Everyone watching this understands what a gifted maker Laura is, but can we take a moment to appreciate how she curates the best music and incorporates it so seamlessly into her videos? Her editing skills are just as incredible. I think other UA-camrs could learn a big lesson from this just as a matter of capititalizing on viewer statistics: keeping the viewer engaged with the music all the way through makes sure they watch the whole video start to finish. Love you, Laura, stay awesome!
Thanks! That is a big compliment :)
@@laurakampf Thank you!
I like how she synchronized the sandpaper sounds at 6:58!
Absolutely! I come for the content and enjoy the tunes - Laura got me in to Biffy Clyro! This one - that bassline just pulled me along.
@dinobuddy is so correct. I'd love to see a video on *how* Laura edits to the music. It's almost as if she's been listening to the song over and over while making whatever she's making. MAYbe!?
Now this is one BEAUTIFUL little lamp!
It is a beautiful lamp and listening to you at the end was even better!
Sure do enjoy all the awesome things you make!!
Wow that lamp is beautiful!
I'll keep watching, Laura
This lamp remember me of my grandmother had in her house !! Nice job
Very interesting that you used Ballistol to finish the lamp. I have used Ballistol on devices that fling projectiles at high velocity, as a lubricant on the sole of my plane, and a few other things, but not as a wood finish. I don't have the spray version (in fact the bottle of Ballistol I have is decades old), so I don't test that, but if I see the spray version, I will give that a go. Thanks for sharing, and keep up the great work
I'm not sure if im more impressed by the lamp or that shop. 🤩 wow
I know nothing about wood working but I thoroughly enjoy watching your projects come together.
Laura, U should consider "lashing," multiple wraps of heavy thread or fine cord, for cable control when it is exposed. Telecom companies used (maybe still use) lashing for neat cable bundles (they rarely use zip ties as cabling may stay in place for decades & plastic dies & cracks over time)
That's really gorgeous Laura! Kudos
Impecable work, Laura!! It turned out amazing!
Beautiful lamp,it's looks like Art Deco
It's so beautiful watching a creator create.
Very cool lamp! Love this project.
Bonsoir
Superbe travail
Très belle lampe
Merci pour vos vidéos
Michel 😉🙏🏻🍻
"Let Glue Dry" - a compelling statement in both making... and life!
You have such a great gift for making lamps and lights. And so many if them seem to start as ideas without a formal plan but that you make through drawing. Love it so much. And I appreciate the different techniques you try to incorporate in each build. Its tremendous. Thank you and see you next week!
fantastic, favourite thing I've seen you do! x
Beautiful as always Laura ❤️
Always wonferful ideas Laura !
I love that lamp!
Maybe, but maybe..thicker arm to hide the external cable
Ciao !!
It's got a really nice Jugendstil feel :D
You could put brass finials in the holes on the arm, to give it a spine like look of connected sections bending to the weight. Thanks for sharing!
Really nice job really cool design.
Brilliant!
Awesome work!
Lovely!
I love how creative you are using just what you have.
Beautiful
What a beautiful desk lamp. And, as always, a great video.
Very cool Laura. Nice job
It looks so simple, yet it's a work of art! And I bet switching it on must have felt satisfying. I somehow felt when I saw it. Great build!
Ooh, its a beautiful lamp!
I love the dark wood and brass, such a perfect combo. 😚👌
And the lamp head itself is lovely and reminds me of a seashell! 😄
Have an ace week Laura!
This was awesome! Loved watching you let it flow!
You have always good ideas and i love that you put your style in everything you make.
absolutly beautiful
Nice design
Genia !!
Good job!
Beautiful! Love the organic feel
Hey Laura. That is one AWESOME lamp.
Well done.
Looks great, I love the contrasting colors and the smooth, asymmetrical design. I think there's also some interesting potential in the jagged sawtooth pattern the shade had before you cut it.
I like your lamp - even with the holes! 👍🏻
I like this one a lot, the creativity, the materials: nice!
Por fin vuelve a hacer objetos interesantes!
So nice Hello from Azerbaijan 🇦🇿
Amazing work, as always!
nice...
Great work :-) I really like it :-) All the best :-)
Unschlagbares Design! Wie du einfach das perfekte Messing(rest)stück für diese Lampen da liegen hast! 🤯
متشکرم لارا 💕
Let glue dry-Eskalation! 😉
:)
Laura, I love all of your videos, but I’m for ever yelling at my iPad: PUT SOME GLOVES ON, Laura. 😁
Brilliant! (Pun intended, LOL)
👍👍👍
👍
Really nice design!
Maybe you you could fill the sh*tty holes with some brass plugs.
Could look really nice with the Kontrol cover :)
Accepting that you did not steam or, apparently boil the wood for the arm laminations, how long did you soak them for? It seemed to work well.
For a good hour. Worked very well. I let it dry next to my woodstove
@@laurakampf Thanks, helpful. Regards to Smudo.
👍🏾😎
It looks like a pencil sharpener shaving
You know, if you're laminating wood like that for something you plan on powering, you can actually imbed the wire IN the wood while you're laminating the layers together by having a few layers be split in two leaving a gap. ;)
If you're interested in a more detailed explanation, let me know and I can make a render of what I'm talking about.
Am I looking right at it or is there no music credit? I'm wondering who/what the background music is.
You know you're a big fan when you don't even read the title and just watch the video with no idea what it's about lol
And click the 👍before the vid even starts
Beautiful
I love how a significant portion of this video was just Laura making world's fanciest plywood
Hello Laura.
This is not just a lamp...this is a masterpiece...this is art !!
With kind regarts .. Walther
When you were looking at the lampshade after sanding I thought to myself: “Oh no! She’s gonna wear it as a hat!” But then you didn’t. You’re a better person than I am! 😂🤣
Snap! How could anyone resist???
@@nigelmtb I woulf have worn it outside too! 😂🤣
As somebody raised by T.V and spent over 1/4 of my life watching movies... This is enjoyable at so many levels. Thank you for following your passion. ¡¡PURA VIDA!!
Hey Laura, I'm an industrial design student and just wanted to thank you for making your videos. Your videos remind me why I got into making and design in the first place. All the best!

Looking at your expressions handling wood, metal and tools says it all for me! The pleasure you express, your smile, the way you caress what you make…it’s inspiring and what creativity is all about. Thank you for sharing your amazing talents.👍🏻👏🏻😎
Laura the lamp turned out to be a great idea, very cool looking and the lampshade has art deco vibes to it!!! As always Laura 💯%... 👍🇬🇧.
Wow, this is such a Cool Thing!! This is amazing work, Laura! Thank you so much for sharing it with us
What a beautiful lamp! You are so creative and handy, I always learn something from your videos, Thanks for posting!!
What is the name and author of the tune from the”making a lamp from scrap wood?
I really love it.
Fantastic! The heavy brass hardware and purple power cords are a very nice touch. As always it's such a pleasure to watch you work :)
3:30 I'm just going to assume that "birch" is the German word for maple.
I can honestly say that lamp is a beautiful piece of craftwork
What if you used little brass eyebolts through the holes in the arm to thread the wire through? I think it'd match the look and it would keep the wire much straighter and closer to the arm. You could even get fancy and install grommets in the eyes of the bolts.
I seriously love all the amazing work Laura does. Sunday is by far my favorite day of the week just because i get a new Laura video that day. Thank youuuu 🥰🥰🥰
Love it! Why not use some more brass scrap to plug the holes in the arm, thus matching the base? Just one idea!
This looks super nice! Very cool project. Especially the lampshade turned out awesome.
Regarding the holes in the arch: If you have a brass rod of the hole's diameter lying around, you could put some discs as inlays into them.
Some glass (either colored of plain, would be cool as well !)
Going with the flow makes me think if my favorite quote: "The material and the craftsman's thoughts change together in a progression of smooth, even changes until his mind is at rest at the exact instant the material is right." Robert Pirsig
I love the “let glue dry” sweater
Where?

I want one too😭😭😭
@@Neslekkim oooohhh yea
Hahaha....
Wow..now that is a really nice lamp fella. 😅
While watching the video, I was thinking, "That's a missed opportunity to weave the cord through the bent wood." Then you immediately explained why you chose not to. It goes to show that sometimes not having a plan and improvising the build can be beneficial.
Beside the projects themselves, I really like your style of how you present the tools or your merch. It's very elegant and not so on the nose like some sponsor-sections others have. Very good.
Grüße aus Lippstadt
I 💖watching the process just as much as the end result. You're such an amazing storyteller!
I actually like the holes in the arm. I thought it was a nice design feature.
I love the lamp. Especially the shade😊🐝❤
Great video,keep it up!🟠🈺️
I love everything about this lamp! I need to keep that technique in my back pocket: cutting wood into thin strips, wetting, bending in a form, glueing up. The shape of the shade reminds me of a Tiffany lamp! It got a cool radius effect at the bottom from the plywood. I like the holes and cord wrap, it’s utilitarian. Also, I’m fond of those toggle switches.
Nooo the holes looked very cool !!! I loved the lamp !
In every one of Laura’s videos we witness great design, which seems to come out of her mind effortlessly and is presented in a cool, humorous way. I love the let glue dry piece of wood and top.
