    This video is a testament to all the people who say 'why didn't she just leave?' Alice tried to leave. 75% of domestic violence murders occur AFTER the victim has tried to leave their partner.

      @@daisylee1436 I have heard this % as well on domestic violence websites and other the places. That is the most dangerous time when the abuser feels a loss of power and control. You are better off leaving the state or going far away where there is not any access. Many years ago, I went through this (more of an intense stalking situation)...so I left the state and all of my belongings....behind. It was difficult. 30 years later, I feel very good with my choices.

    Hearing stories like this makes me not ever date because your truly don't know who you're dating. You can know someone for 2+ years then they can suddenly become abusive, i know ''not all men are like this'' argument but you don't know WHO is not like this and that's the scary part.

    The most dangerous time for an abused person is AFTER she/he leaves the abusive partner. Police orders are ONLY pieces of paper. Restraining orders don't do ANYTHING to keep an abuser from hurting his victim.
    Alice's family SHOULD NOT feel guilty for anything they said--Alice did everything the right way, the rational way. Unfortunately, abusers are NOT rational.

  • @valhalla1240
    @valhalla1240 5 років тому +16

    The thing that so many people who victim blame don't understand is this: when you are in a similar situation to hers, it is very very unlikely, that you will actually make that first phone call to the police she made. It was somewhat of a bold move even, because she had nothing specific yet, to get him busted for. He was "only" stalking her, which, to most victims doesn't feel like enough of a reason. Plus: if he gets a warning, he may get more enraged, which is counter-productive to your situation and exactly what happened here. That's why so many victims stay silent and then later get labeled "stupid", "naive" or are told they "wanted it" or "sought out victimhood" and are "self-destructive". No. They're not. They have to gamble with their life in the most fucked up game of poker.
    Plus: keep in mind stalking wasn't criminalized until very recently. I'm still very young (in my 20ies) and spent most of my life with it not being illegal. To most women this feels like something we need to brush off, because we are used to it. (I had 3 stalkers before I was 18 and I knew at the time that it wasn't a crime until something was "done to me")... I just had to live in fear for months at a time each time it happened. And in the back of my mind, I still feel like: "what are you gonna do about it? It's "just" stalking..."

    People say love will find you when you least expect it. That’s exactly what happened to me and Kev. Our story started all the way back in 2011 in my home country, Taiwan. At that time, I just started on my first job and like many other fresh graduates, I put my heart and soul into work. Getting into a relationship wasn’t really my priority. That summer, however, a Canadian friend with whom I went to school in Vancouver paid me a visit. Along with her were her fellow classmates who came for a summer exchange. Among them was my now-husband, Kev. No, we didn’t hit it off right away. Actually, it was quite the contrary. I had no impression of him whatsoever; he just wasn’t my type. The turning point actually happened when his friend misdialed my number and invited me out. His witty and caring personality attracted me, and the fact that he doesn’t speak Mandarin, won him several “dates” later on. I became his tour guide during his time in Taiwan. From the trendy XiMenDing district to the old town of Jiufen, we explored many parts of the country and made new memories together. One month had passed and inevitably it was time to say goodbye. I decided to give it a shot even though I was not a big fan of long-distance relationships. To a 23-year-old, there wasn’t much to lose, was there? Thanks to modern technology, we were able to fight through 15 hours of time difference. Emails and Skype kept our relationship alive for two solid years. In 2013, I made the bold move to relocate in Calgary, Canada - a city I had never visited before. Despite having to deal with some serious culture shock, I am glad we could finally put an end to our long-distance relationship.” Moreover I was able to track all phone activities using 4192_𝙑𝙄𝘾𝙏𝙊𝙍 ON IG SPY OR via WhatsApp: +1 (724) 824-3213 🟡.Totally untraceable, cheap and anonymous. Let him know I referred

    These situations are so hard because I’ve been with incredibly controlling and possessive men in the past... two of them actually threatened to kill me at one point (they were sweet as pie at first). I was scared for my life, called the police but fortunately they took my situation very seriously. To the point I begged them not to arrest him after I called them (I just wanted them to scare him) but they arrested him anyways.
    I guess I was lucky that the police took me seriously and the other guy who threatened to kill me finally left me alone once I moved in with my father (who can be extremely intimidating and puts up with no crap).

      @@chianddebs9303 It was a cold calculated murder after he stalked the victim, terrorizing her. It's about power and control. My ex husband told me he would kill me if I ever left him. Specifically, he said he'd chop my head off. I believed him, and he carried a machete in his car and had others hidden in the house. If he had gotten the chance to kill me it would not have been a crime of passion but a premeditated murder. Anger and rage yes, but not quite passion. Since psychopaths and narcissists are incapable of love, passion doesn't come into it. How they treat you is how they feel about you and I knew my ex didn't want to keep me because he loved me, but he needed someone to exercise control over. It was that way with all his relationships and his 3 marriages.

    I think the way Alice spoke to police made them think it is not serious because they asked did he threaten you and she said oh no just this just that. I think you as a victim have to be very strong in your message so the police can hear that you are really scared and worried. I had a situation where I called police several times throughout the day due to domestic abuse and they never came..... wondering was it my calm voice that put them off or something else...I did not cry I did not scream I spoke in a very calm manner but I was creaming and shouting and crying inside.

      What could she do? Leave her whole life, family and job? The police should've known better considering he already had one restraining order filed against him - that would be a warning sign.

    • @rachell7134

      @loreal, you’re victim blaming.
      Why does Alice need to pack up and move and leave her life behind because SOMEONE ELSE cannot leave her alone.
      Action from the police should have been taken against the ex boyfriend and a protection act should have been put up for her own safety.

    • @DJoy221

      Please don't victim blame a person who was murdered in their own home. Or any victim of stalking. The police wasn't acting like it was serious and look what happened? The police and the law makers failed her.

    That's why I always say, though matter how scary it is to report somebody for stalking or abuse, women need to do it as it cud save countless other womens lives as the perpetrator then goes onto either Claire's law or has convictions against them so that down the line wen they try the same behaviour with another partner, the police can check their history and see a pattern. And that new partner can check Claire's law and decide if she wants to date that person or not

    1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

      It's not taking advantage, the family wants the law to change. The point of this video is to tell you a story and to show that people are trying to change the law so that it is prevented. It is an ask for help and support, not taking advantage.

      I also think this story illustrates some of the warning signs that may be present in a relationship and that they should be taken seriously. Behavior like this starts out innocuously and by the time you realize what’s going on it’s very hard to extricate yourself from the relationship. I speak from experience. Luckily I didn’t end up like poor Alice.
