Her ex just got a restraining order? Why didn't he go to jail? He should also have to pay her the half a million dollars he was gonna sell the footage for. This isn't real justice.
TheBloodVodka it never is real justice in cases like this, rape, sexual abuse etc. Our laws don’t match the crime. Make sure to write your representatives to get that changed.
And yall never take the blame for taking them
Lisa Bloom is a heavy hitter. I would be surprised if there was not a civil settlement in regards to this - one which it's details probably will never be released to the public.
what did the ex do
Juliana Silva that’s an unfair assessment. Not all men are bad. This guy is a complete dirt bag and should be locked up, but he doesn’t represent all men.
The lawyer on her case is a badass. Champion for women’s rights in my opinion. That woman fought for Mischa and she deserves recognition for being the heroine she is.
Remember at one point Lisa Bloom was Harvey Weinsteins lawyer.
Assnapkin Ed wtf? How does me saying something nice about this lawyer detract from male lawyers fighting for women’s rights? Oh, that’s right, it doesn’t. People get so triggered these days for no goddamn reason. I can’t even compliment someone without being pounced on. Gimme a break people. Jeez.
@@jillianm8958 "Badass" "Champion for women's rights" "That woman" "Heroine".
I don't think you would say those kind of things about a man. You took every opportunity to mention she's a woman also... something you say doesn't matter?
Also, helping(for money) Mischa Barton with a criminal case does not make you a heroine, or a fighter for women's rights.
Go to Africa or the Middle East yourself if you want to help.
@@ebogar42 How does anyone regardless of their gender "deserve" to have sexual material that they didn't consent to the making of seen by the public (or made in the first place). Even if they did consent to make videos or pictures for the private use between the couple, doesn't mean they consent to it being shown to anyone else, not the public and not showing off to a friend for bragging rights.
No Woman or Man deserves that regardless of how difficult the relationship or split. The fact that he was bragging (and possibly showing) to others during the relationship without her knowledge and was basically holding an auction for the tape after the breakup, means this is all on him and shows he's a nasty piece of garbage.
@@ebogar42 What in your estimation, Eric, grants a person the right to film someone during sex without this person's consent and then try to sell these videos publicly? Did she eat his child, murder his mum, call his penis a worm? What grants him this right when in point of fact what he was doing is illegal?
😱 I had no idea she went through this. That’s awful
its because of racism
lineup shut up
Caryn Denean had no idea either. was wondering why she faded from the spotlight
Wtf? What about this situation was bc of racism, again? Should I go ahead and invoke Godwin's Law, in response? Has the conversation degraded to that point?
@@amylieu6084 Imao what
It's bad enough to release a sex tape without the person's permission, but for them to not even know they were being taped? Wow. That's straight up psychopathic to me.
Amanda Knox is also a psychopath!!
@@adastrabella She was wrongfully convicted and has been exonerated. Unless you're a mental health professional who has assessed her personally, you're making claims you can't back up. You also replied to VillageKev's logical comment with irrelevant nonsense.
@@adastrabella give the poor woman a break. People like you made her go through what she did in the first place.
So many women are controlled by SHAME. I always found it strange that whilst women are shamed for their actions, men are patted on the back and high-fived for those very same actions.
@JDMime Haha the patriarchy? I'm pretty sure most rags are run by women or gay men. What does Colin Farrell have to say about the "patriarchy" controlling revenge porn? Oh wait, that's right, a woman vindictively released their sex tape.
The patriarchy doesn't exist. Ugh.
By the way, it's devastating what happened to Mischa. Her ex is a dickhead; clearly someone who was punching above his weight.
It's women that shame other women. Not the "patriarch" as feminist propaganda suggests
I think it's pretty easy to explain why that is. At least when it comes to sex. Think about it this way: Men are keys, women are locks. If a key can open a whole bunch of different locks, then that's a damn good key! However, if one single lock is opened by a bunch of different keys then... you know... that's a pretty shitty lock.
@craisins 86 Because in my metaphore dicks are keys and vajayjays are locks.
shnoopio Except that metaphor males zero sense cause dicks arent keys and vags arent locks. Youre not unlocking anything or being unlocked by sleeping with someone
Imagine all the women who don't have the money to pay for top lawyers
Mischa has a great voice. I'm glad she stood up for herself.
"Great voice"? She sounds like a fucking pack a day smoker and then gargles rocks. Thought I was listening to a dude.
@@tommynikon2283 She has a raspy voice. It used to be considered ideal. Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore have them too.
Hey look at all these jealous losers in the comments. Oops I already forgot about you. Mischa rocks.
I was recorded without my knowledge in 1997. The guy was a cop. He and his cop friends liked to sit around together and watch the videos. Nothing I could do. THANK GOD it was never uploaded to the internet. It was back in the VHS days.
I am so sorry to hear this happened to you. Is it still possible to seek justice?
Cop culture is toxic in my community too. Thanks for sharing your heart so openly.
Sorry you had to go through that and thank you for sharing. It's a very difficult subject to talk about but it has to be said so people known it's a big problem.
Get those videos or Sue him image to how many women these men are taking advantage of
I don't want to worry you, but you can still put VHS tapes onto the internet by reformatting. You should still press charges against the cop.
I wouldn’t wish this even on my worst enemy, it can really ruin your life
I am so sorry if you, and anybody has to go through that, it must be terrifying. I imagine it destroys one's confidence and central being in a way not much else can.
chokinonashes61 yes it does. It takes a long time to recover your self worth after something like that. It is horrible when something so special and private is put out there for everyone to see without your permission. Worse is all the judgement that comes with it and lack of understanding. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Yeah, it sure did ruin Kim Kardashians life. lol Just stop. It only ruins your life if you let it.
a 15 year old committed suicide because of this its the worst. the woman/girl will always be the one shamed. seen as dirty. family will lose respect for her or kick her out even tho it was all that nasty mans fault!
or make you rich and famous
I'm a 43yo man. And I'm so disheartened and outraged every single time I hear one of these kinds of stories. Women being abused. Taken advantage of. Hurt. Killed. My exes telling me their stories. My female friends telling me their stories. My partner sharing her stories. It's heartbreaking and incredibly enraging at the same time. I hope we can fix this one day. For the time being we all need to continue to fight, to initiate change by being vocal, by being supportive of women in these circumstances, and fighting the behaviours in male culture which create these situations. #metoo is just the beginning. Gilette is just the beginning. We had a lot more work to do.

I don't think some people understand how big of a star she was at her peak. I have always been surprised she never had the huge post OC career she was expected to. Revenge porn is a low pathetic disgusting thing to do to a person, the slimeball who did that to her is vile. Good to see she took him on!
I think she was fired from the OC for having a bad attitude. So that's why. Work ethic is worth more to the producers than fame when it's fleeting and there are a million pretty, talented girls knocking at the door.
Yeah It’s really surprising the amount of bad things that happened to her since The O.C, as her character said one time “I think some people just get lost”.
I remember after Mischa had a lot of problems and spent some time in the mental hospital the media really blackballed her. She was seen as a person with mental problems and really lost her A-list status she once had.
She was never a big star. lol She was on the OC and that's about it. Was in a few shitty movies too I think. Was never a good actress really.
She began to heavily abuse alcohol and drugs and had a poor work ethic. It was inevitable that Hollywood spit her out.
The fact that Amanda Knox is doing this interview really is a statement.
Of racism in Italy, yes.
@@charlottepringle2634 I am too lazy to look up the case. What was racist about that case??
Omara Oliver that’s not even xenophobia, as the coimputate is actually Italian.
Meredith’s murder is still unsolved, and actually the possibility Amanda is involved is still pretty high. Probably is being American that saved her.
@@beatricevanpelt3599 No Meredith's murder is not unsolved. They found blood and DNA matching a man named Rudy Guede and he was convicted of the murder in 2008.
Sarah Guede’s DNA has been found on the crime scene but not on the knife that killed Meredith. That was amanda’s one.
Plus, the judgment says that FOR SURE was not him the person who killed, he has been accused of complicity in murder. But complicity with who? No one knows, that’s what I mean when I say that it’s unsolved.
she’s so beautiful, i’m so happy she won this case. would love to see her back acting a lot and hopefully press and everyone watches this and doesn’t treat her poorly again
I grew up reading celebrity magazines and specifically remember that she always was not only criticized but downright attacked for her fluctuating weight and seeing that as a little girl put such a panic inside my head like you can never gain weight or people will say the same disgusting things about you. and thats the only thing i ever read about her and now seeing her and hearing her talk for the first time, 10 years later makes me cry cuz it just throws me back so much and also remembering there was an actual person behind that all this time who was being bashed by the media. like i cant imagine how much more pressure she must be under then regular women and what she went through reading these things throughout all these years, like i'm in shock and i'm amazed what an incredible woman she is for still being so strong.
Thank you for bringing this to people's attention. I have been a fan of Mischa since the first episode of the O.C. I was so upset that she is having to deal with this when I found out.
Such a brilliant series. This showcases the strength and resolve it took before the current movements

*Can't really put my finger on exactly what it is but there's something about Mischa's voice that I love.*
It has a nice balance of feminine and masculine.
It's one of those accents where you can tell that her parents had british accents

She strong person for speaking out . What awful thing have to go though that. Men can be evil if they don't get their way and it's not right .
Mischa Barton has excellent control over her facial expressiveness. I don't know another way to say this, but it really surprised me
@VNem Vee Not consciously working to heal trauma and masking it with drugs doesn't help either.
VNem Vee This is not true. They do not “always” go together. Some people opt for recovery without meds. It is possible. We can’t say we know with certainty what anyone is doing, or that a particular treatment ‘absolutely’ had to be used for them.

I hope that as my girls get older feminists won’t be seen as a bad word.
I hope you teach them that it's not
Oh I do and will but in this society it sucks, if your strong, ambitious, speak you truth, your treated like less. The word bitch has been thrown at me many times, this attitude that I’m less of a woman because I stand my ground not afraid to share my opinion, and I will not coward to any man. This is an attitude that was hard fought for. Many men have tried to “put me in my place” only to find their place. I’m not a man bashing bitch, I’m just a bitch with a voice that will not be silenced.
Yes, me too.
For their sake and yours, I suggest you find ways to clean up the feminist movement and get rid of the bad ones (which there are plenty of). Otherwise, I do think that as your daughters do get older, more and more, feminists will be seen as a bad word and something a lot of people won't want to associate with for a variety of reason.
@MB "When all women wanted was the right to vote and not be treated as second class, they were still denigrated, called extreme, radical, ugly, unwanted, frustrated."
You forgot to mention a lot of this name-calling was done from other women who were opposed to their own right to vote lol.
" Look at the mocking postcards made about women from those years."
How about you look at the actual data we have about it??? Feminists make so many assumptions that annoy me greatly.
1.they assume men didn't have to fight for their right to vote...which is silly because they fought much harder for it as it literally cost quite a lot of lives.
2.they assume it was men vs women...which is wrong because there are documents from back then that show that men were often more likely to support it than women.
3.they assume the right to vote was a self-contained thing at the time which is very wrong...at the time the idea was that the right to vote was associated with certain responsibilities.Feminism wanted SELECTIVE equality not equality.(I would argue feminism at it's core is about selective equality of outcome...aka inequality)
" Feminism isn't the problem, men are."
What If I said "anti-feminism isn't the problem, women are" would you call me a sexist piece of shit on the basis I just implied women are bad?
Mischa is still so beautiful, and so strong! Thank you for doing this for women!
So good to see Mischa healthy 🙌🏽 you go girl.
I'm glad Amanda Knox is doing these but someone needs to give her some coaching about how to conduct an interview.
This why I don't trust anyone anymore. When I see things like this, I'd just rather be single forever.

I just realized that Mischa Barton is Marissa Cooper in real life. She has the kindest heart but someone needs to take care of her
Good for you, Mischa. Your courage and composure set a good example.
This is a great interview and I think it's super important to know the side of the victim because they are the only ones who matter. I just wished we could give just as much attention to the perpretator's name... the way the media treats these stories makes it seem like these things just "happen", like no one did them: "Girl is raped", "Woman is killed" "Woman is victim of revenge porn". We should put these men in the spotlight and make sure everyone knows they are the ones who committed a crime.
I'm so proud of you Misha. You inspire me with your courage and strength. God bless you.
Mischa is such a strong and smart woman! So proud that she stood up to this jackass looking for clout! She’s so blessed to have such an amazing lawyer too. You can tell she actually cared about what happened to Mischa and genuinely wanted justice for her and I’m so glad they succeeded! (:
Auntie Geigui Of course money helps with lawyers but regardless of income women usually don’t fare well in these situations
She killed it in The OC 👏👏
Mischa Barton is a good actress
Yes!!! amazing actress, love her accent
The worst part about it is that I never even heard about this. It was never publicised, yet there are plenty of magazines that would be happy to report on her on a night out. Mischa is such an articulate, intelligent, gentle person and should be so proud of herself for this achievement.
I don't care about Amanda Knox history, but god she is an AWFUL interviewer!! I didn't even know who she was but thought what a terrible interviewer... I mean she kept on insisting if she was afraid, over and over, you can even see Mischa getting a bit frustrated or surprised by the constant question. She’s so strong, i don’t know if I’d be able to fight it. I never even heard of this case before
Thanks Mischa for sharing your story. You’re very brave and such a beautiful soul.
Why is the interviewer always asking if she is afraid?
I am so glad that most of the comments here I see are from Americans who can see Knox for what she is: a ruthless murderer. I was so disappointed when she was set free. In Italy we don't have death penalty, but I would have really been content with having that woman rot in prison for the rest of her life. She was so brutal... so incredibly disgusting what she did... oh if only they let her alone with Meredith's family... she would have gotten all she deserved. On the contrary, poor Meredith is under 3 feet of dirt and this jerk is out there enjoying life... cannot believe it!!
During the interview the interviewer was really aiming for emotional experience, not much of a story and reasoning... Idk if its her personal rage or passion, but she has more things to say than Mischa
It's because Amanda Knox personally understands what it's like to have your sexuality used against you on a very large, public scale.
Why are people hating on Amanda in the comments? Sure we all know the story but she was deemed innocent by a court of law. That's why we have these systems in the first place. So we the people don't need/have to make those rulings ourselves. If everyone runs around judging her to be guilty AFTER the court ruled in her favor then what's the point of the court? Let the girl live her life, whether she did it or not, she is to be considered innocent.
She was great on the OC, I loved Marissa (screw the haters). Didn't know things went so bad for her..shame on her disgusting former boyfriend. Good to see that she is better now
thank you for this amazing series and giving us a chance to hear all these courageous women's voices.
That is no punishment for him. He needs to be publicly shamed for this
Why is there emphasis on Knox’s own life? Why is this connected to horrible stories?
I mean, she contributed to the killing of a British girl in Erasmus in Italy, got away with it, and now she uses the story to promote herself?!?
This is sick and crazy.
i have nothing but respect for mischa barton... i hope every woman (and man) will have the courage to stand up against revenge porn..
RIP Meredith Kercher we will NEVER forget what they did to you! Amanda Knox is a cold blooded murderer and I still can’t believe she got away with it!! 😔
Anyone that still believes that she's guilty is a fool. The guilty person was caught and confessed to the crime. The oddly sex obsessed Italian prosecutors concocted a femme fatatle sex crime story that the media couldn't resist. They had an open and shut case with forensic evidence and a confession from the actual murderer and instead gave him a reduced sentence to implicate two innocent people.
Amanda had this happen to her when she was in jail. The guards did it to her. Amanda has been through so much.🙏
Wow this is terrible! Poor Mischa :(
Never been a fan of Misha but I am so proud of how she stood up to this. Go girl.
I want to see her in more shows and movies!
Thank you Mischa for your strength and empowering women during such a violating depraved experience from a sick perverted ex.
When I was 25, my ex messaged me and threatened with photos that if I didn't get back together with him or be his friend he would upload on revenge porn sites.
I was livid, I told him if he did that I would file charges in court. He then said he wouldn't do it and apologised. I was scared for months and even years later I looked just incase because even a threat brought out vulnerability and fear in me.
When I was 28 I found an album containing pictures without my consent (Bathroom taking showers) taken by someone I trusted. A relative I trusted destroyed it to protect him. He never threatened an exposé on a site but I felt sick to my stomach and so violated and still do when I think about it. I considered the perpetrator family. The perpertrator also sexually assaulted me and almost killed me. I have severe PTSD and I still won't take naked pictures of myself to give my partner of 3 and a half years nor let him take any of me, it's all left it's mental and emotion imprint I will have for the rest of my life.
Its sad how she wasn't cast for anything after the O.C.

Oh the tragedy.
It is, but she didn’t really want to be a huge star
My trust would be so broken. I’m already paranoid about cameras in public bathrooms/ hotels... but to find out someone you thought you loved was violating you 😐

(I know this isn’t important, but)
She’s so beautiful, I can’t even...
I still don't understand why women are threatened with sex tapes by men whose bodies are also seen in the tapes. They don't feel the shame women feel. The privilege, dude.

It happens all the time even in the United States. Just look into the innocence project. The police only set their sights on one person. They don’t actually do their job and end up attacking the wrong person.
So much respect for Lisa Bloom. One tough attorney, and so effective in bringing justice for her clients.
Amanda is a miracle woman.
She murdered a young woman (or at least she was involved), escaped her responsibilities and is not ashamed to have a public life.
The man who sits in prison has never said she was involved so why would he cover for her? Your walnut brain is just too small to ever question this?
Jen Lee He said it was her since the beginning.
Just read before insulting random people on the internet.
@@beatricevanpelt3599 I've watched every documentary on this and he never was incriminating her or her boyfriend. Stop lying. His semen, however- was found in Meredith.. but I guess you believe Amanda used some kind of witchcraft to put it there.
@craisins 86 same here. If she would have been friends with Rudy, I could see why people might believe she could have helped him or maybe even just turned a blind eye if she was really an evil person-- but the facts are there's no evidence they had ever met or even seen each other before.
This is why I have trust issues, because when revenge porn or up-skirting happens there are no laws on your side, no prison time for the criminal
Amanda Knox is doing such a great job with this series. I really admire how she has used her experiences for good.
GROSS! Maybe you can be her roommate next
That shows how corrupted our society has become looks and money are the only values people respect.....
So glad this series exists, please make more!
Great content but I can’t stop thinking about Amanda Knox.
been binging these Amanda Knox videos. these are so important.
The journalist keeps trying to put words in her mouth / get her to say specific things.
Wow Broadly really doesn’t care who they give their job to. Amanda Knox is still wanted on trial for murder but the US government swiftly made a deal and got her away. I wonder how the family of the young murdered English girl would feel seeing Amanda Knox taking advantage of the fame surrounding her murder case ? The world of media stinks. It even goes beyond the fact she is guilty or not, fame acquired that way should not be taken advantage of, it’s distasteful.
Good 👏🏻 Fucking 👏🏻 Work 👏🏻
Also, it is epic that Amanda Knox is doing this interview.
Being strong for ourselves is a long journey when you have gone through any type of violation against your most personal ways, lifting ourselves up and our eyes up to these crimes against us or another person is the only way we can make change, together, #eyesup
The interviewer tries so hard to show compassion it looks forced and fake. She actually gives every answer in her questions so annoying.
Oss Delmar I think I t’s because there is a deeply contradictory verdict she carries as someone who lied her way out of a murder. You’re discerning something and it’s a complete lack of empathy full of self-effacing self-aggrandizement. I know it may seem like those two descriptors don’t belong together until you think about it. Watch micro-expression lie detection videos about her. It’s amazing someone so guilty can get off in this day and age.
@Petersburg Tug - read Malcolm Gladwell’s book “Talking to Strangers “
Why is Amanda Knox the person interviewing her?
She's a journalist, and this is part of a series.
Really happy to see Amanda doing well and also doing some pretty amazing interviews.
E. Null but what about the poor woman Meredith Kercher whom she murdered? She’s not doing so well.
I wouldn’t suggest asking a cop bc they’re rather ignorant on the nuances of the law, go ask any lawyer. If you willingly send text email a photo of yourself , clothed or naked, to another person it is then their property. You are permitted to do whatever you wish short of making money off it without their consent or permission. If you want you can show who ever you wish, you can print it out and make a 24x36 poster, it belongs to you just like someone gifted you a camera developed picture of themselves
Survivor not victim
victim.
love her humility an grace go girl!
Amanda Knox really?
Too bad Kiesha's judge didn't see what she went through as a crime, as well. Both ladies, stay strong!
