Thank you for the question. Because suretyship is like insurance, the surety is not a principal debtor. The surety only answers when there is default on the part of the assured. On the other hand, in solidarity, any of the solidary debtors is a principal debtor. So, the creditor can collect from any of them, irrespective of the fact of default of the other solidary debtors.
