    Absolutely love my pair of Stealths! In my experience they're indeed as source-picky as the Susvara. Comparable detail and texture yet also different.
    Shame you did not have the Stealth for review when the Zahl HM1 passed through your studio, it's an absolutely magical pairing.

    "Best" is hard for me to say. Like in technicals? Yeah probably. But the Verite Closed on tubes still hasn't been dethroned for me. It colors the music in such a pleasing way and if you like the tuning quirks, you REALLY like the tuning quirks. IMO the VC is superior to its open counter part but also going for something different.. Back to back, I thought the Expanse was just a slightly better Stealth personally.
    Were you going to do a ZMF lineup review or did I imagine that?

    Hey Koji, hope you're doing fantastic. I was wondering did you change anything about your mic setup ? I'm not sure if it's on my end but it seems the sound has been lowered a bit. (i never change my settings for youtube so i know right away when volume got +/- dB)
    Other than that glad to see the Giella Pi here, i'm guessing it came from Pierre aswell ? Can't wait for the review. Maybe can you tease a lil bit ? Is it a gem as i thought it could be ? Or is it more fighting with others in same price range ?

      It’s possible, the overall mastering output is lower than previously, so therefore you might have to turn up the volume to match other levels of other reviews. Possibly, we have been using different editors since May, and trying to find our feet.
      The pie is a little gem, it’s a palm size bomb
      Love the little thing, though it does have some ergonomic nightmare set up in regards to the inputs and headphone output, not a fan of that, but everything will be explained in the review

      @@random-internet-dude war of an irksome scenario rather than actual detriment
      The problem is in a scenario where you have too many headphones et cetera, and you like to constantly alternate, it makes the whole thing very unclean if you know what I mean
      It’s located directly in the middle above the power cable and situated in the middle of the input and output, so if you have one pair of headphones and you leave it I think it’s fine but if you like changing Headphones three or four times a day yes

REALLY makes you feel like you're in the music. My elite closed back list is: dc stealth, verite closed, atrium closed. My bet is once the caldera closed comes out that will be the tippy top for my preferences. I enjoy the focal radiance over Stellia $ per $ spent. Mass Kobo 404 / 424 would be a nice portable combo with this.

      Atrium Closed is alright, but that sound is carried by sub bass and air (mids are really recessed). Very different headphone than the Radiance or Stelia. Verite Closed would probably be most similar, with no coincidence that it uses the same driver material. Caldera open is very, very different sounding. I wouldnt build hype for that unless you've heard the Caldera yourself first. I dont think its something everyone will love or find it worth the $

      I have the SPL Phonitor X, not the 2. In my experience the SPL Phonitor X simply cannot drive the lower impedance DC Stealth to usable volume levels. It is useless for the Stealth, works great with my Audeze LCD 3. For the Stealth I typically use a Pass Labs HPA-1, and it leaves me reaching for a bit more power at times.

  • @jan.tovarnak
    @jan.tovarnak 9 місяців тому +1

    You mentioned that Stealth's have the makings of being a closed-back super-flagship, basically in the company of the best you can get when money is not a factor, in realm of dynamic/planar headphones that is. You also mentioned few other headphones - Susvara, AB1266 and Binor-ER. Are there any other headphones you'd consider to be a super-flagship? I'm thinking that perhaps I could shrink my collection and get something in "creme de la creme" realm but since I already have pieces like Caldera, Atrium, Diana Phi, Diana MR and ATH-ADX5000, I'm not sure whether it makes sense to go even further (Susvara and AB1266 are out of question, Sus because of being hard to drive and AB1266 because of form factor). And those Caldera might very well be close to being considered a super-flagship itself...
    Anyway great review as always, you actually persuaded me to try these ones out - I was on the fence about them from various reviews and comparisons for a very long time but you tipped the scales over for me :-)

    • @ConvinceMeAudio
      @ConvinceMeAudio  9 місяців тому +1

      Focal utopia, lcd5 binom er stax 9000 though this one you’ll see in the review. I don’t think it’s complete, it has issues, but yes to make a simple set up, most likely. Bravura now this latter one is exceptional, minimalistic and extraordinary for the price to performance ratio.

    • @jan.tovarnak
      @jan.tovarnak 9 місяців тому +2

      @@ConvinceMeAudioThanks for the list - I intentionally left out electrostat systems like Orpheus, HE-1, Bravura or Shangri-La, I know they are amazing but also a bit limiting if you already own decent chain already. I've been playing with an idea of owning Susvara's for some time, there are a lot of them on secondary market but I've been always put off by how difficult they are to drive properly. Now with Holo Bliss that might not be much of a problem anymore but still, from what I've heard Susvara is not kind to poor recordings, and I do enjoy occasional metal which is not known for the best recording/mastering quality. Perhaps Binom ER will check all the marks, need to rewatch your review of them 🙂

    • @ConvinceMeAudio
      @ConvinceMeAudio  9 місяців тому

      @@jan.tovarnak yes, SUS can grow with you and your chain, but definitely not fantastic for badly recorded music and with a bliss you don’t have any problems about drivability,
      In fact, I was talking to my telegram chat today about this that the entry point for SUS these days is getting easier and easier. I spent the last two hours running it off of the Diablo two, and this new AK desktop unit that has arrived, and they both do a decent enough job to enjoy the Headphones, obviously there are serious headroom to be had.
      I think anybody who is in this hobby and has got the means to have a collection of flagship Headphones SUS has to be there it’s a reference and a Benchmark
      That’s fair enough in regards to electrostatics, unless you jump up to a LTAZ 10 E which the review will be out soon, yes, that is an incredible amplifier and endgame for 98% of people
      Electrostatic, speakers, power ramp, pre-, Headphones planner, dynamics, IM, all in one box, driven, exponentially

    I love this headphone, but I had to end up returning it because it couldn't be driven by my A&K Sp1000 DAP. I worried it wouldn't, and I was so heartbroken when it didn't. One day, when I can afford it, I might buy it just to be a closed back for my at home rig. I've had to stick with the Stellia for now, just because at least it can be driven properly by portable gear 😢. Would have loved a direct comparison between the two! To my ears, DCA has better tonality and a touch more resolution, but I was surprised at how well Stellia held its own!
