    With the conclusion of Munich high in 2024, this is the very first of many videos covering the event.
    Great pleasure as always those of you I met at the show, and hope to see more of you at future shows.
    If you could share and like and all the rest for I believe this is the first video on the quartet on UA-cam we would appreciate it a good deal

    Chord dacs always sound so fussfree, engaging. The fact that 16/44 is all you need was elemental for mr Watts already several years back. It is only now an idea that crosses into mainstream thinking. I do wonder if a trickle down version in the Hugo pricerange will come, though.

    Opinion appears to be very divided on sonic effects of the m-scalar. I haven't heard it myself but looking forward to it and this upgraded scalar.

      That’s a shame, hopefully at the next meeting, will definitely check it out, I found Rob‘s comments in regards to high-quality BNC cables not been necessary for this one. I will definitely put it aside and have a look side-by-side with storm when this unit comes in for review.

    • @ConvinceMeAudio
      @ConvinceMeAudio  2 місяці тому +1

      Worth it, I wouldn’t go down that road, because once you’re beyond the $3000 mark worth is not a part of this conversation anymore you can get amazing stuff in this category and be happy
      What is very subjective and only applies to the individuals pocket
      And yet we still have to dissect this a little bit further and see value value is a different proposition
      Let’s just say you’ve built a 30 K system or a 50 K system or even a 250 K2 channel system, every percent is again and that’s the category we’re talking about

    The only thing that stops me going Chord is that none of there dacs are a true balanced design through xlr.

    • @ConvinceMeAudio
      @ConvinceMeAudio  2 місяці тому

      It means nothing bad, they are built from the ground upwards to be single ended and it’s the same technicality and performance as balanced. The reason why things are so skewed in the market in this manner is because single end it is always after thought and most things are pretty shit in this regard, you will not have such issues with chord.

    • @oohtob6685
      @oohtob6685 2 місяці тому +1

      @ConvinceMeAudio sorry but I've been buying and selling hifi for 45 years.
      I've had the tt2 and m scaler and I'm sorry but nothing compares to a true balanced xlr set up.
      Just my findings over the years and my preference.

    • @ConvinceMeAudio
      @ConvinceMeAudio  2 місяці тому

      @@oohtob6685 that’s fascinating, predominantly here everything is balanced. I’ve always done it this way even from the engineering side of things in the studio, but a few super flagship products have come in that are innately single ended and have been designed in such a way.
      And when doing side-by-side testing in regards to sonic quality characteristics transparency they seem to be fine and on Paul, I just don’t like RCA cables personally Lol

    I mean, why spend so much on an upsampler when you could just buy a better DAC? Things like outboard upsamplers are like monoblocks...great at the ultra high-end, but kind of unnecessary for the middle class and below.

    • @ConvinceMeAudio
      @ConvinceMeAudio  2 місяці тому

      I think this is the wrong direction of looking at it, but I do understand where you’re coming from. This is a foundation of something that you can use to enhance what you already have, but I need to test it with Dave to see if it measures up to WD signature, because honestly I think that’s a tough cell otherwise that’s already 25K together roughly and 25K you can buy Poseidon or WD ultra when it comes out so it’s a very very interesting scenario that we have to look into.

    • @johnlim9009

      Well! In Hifi, there are low-fi, mid-fi and hi-fi. Pick which suite you most!

    • @PickanPop
      @PickanPop 2 місяці тому

      @@johnlim9009 Right, but my point is that if you're buying an ultra-high end system with something like A DCS Vivaldi or Esoteric Grandioso, an outboard upsampler makes a lot of sense as cost is no object, but when you're shopping on a budget, focusing on parts and engineering typically is a better way to spend than on more boxes that do distinct functions.

    Rob Watts is the King of unsubstantiated claims which he passes on as scientific facts when they are just his own unproven assertions. Nothing new in this industry, of course, but he's a Master of this. If one challenges him on these he resorts to saying HE can hear those things so that's the end of that discussion...

      Just because something isn't scientifically proven does not mean it's not real.
      Do you actually know what science is or does someone need to send you a definition?
      Maybe a bit less negativity and spend more time on doing something constructive yourself. That would be a good start.
      If you know how to make a better dac go ahead and do it instead of posting silly comments.
