@@AnthonysCustoms they rarely does that now(I think) tho I think that they have to do it this way because the first time we saw this Dormarmu revealed in 3d model, he was yellow but after he was about to getting manufactured, his flame was red instead. Mostly I think of this because they have to save their budget and focusing the figures in the whole wave instead of trying to corrected the flame colors on just one figure character. Idk, this is just my theory. I might be wrong
I actually love this figure as I'm a big fan of dormammu. I have the Baf which is good but I prefer this look and I do agree, Hasbro should have fixed the lack of yellow on the head flames but even so this is one of my faves this year and we've had a lot of good releases this year.
I'm using mine to make a Penitent One figure, from Blasphemous! He's pretty much perfect for the character, even the color of the suit is right! And him having gun holding hands? They'll be sword holding hands now!
For the life of me, I don’t understand why Hasbro does things like this 1. Why doesn’t Hasbro listen to things that people criticize about their products 2. Why are so many (if not all) of the bad products being accepted positively like it’s not a big deal that they are executed poorly. It’s like people think that if they criticize these products that Hasbro will stop making them, which is not the case at all. They as a company have the duty of pleasing the customer who buys their products, and if a product(s) doesn’t sell well because it/they receive(s) too many complaints and don’t meet the customers demands, they have the option of making better products OR stop making the decisions they made previously with the product and the other products assorted with it. In other words, it should NOT be this difficult to get better products out of a company that gets billions of dollars a year.
Ant, it's absolutely ok to say these things sarcastically and snarkily (snarkily???)... if I made a few phone calls, would you be willing to talk with Hasbro? Call it a job interview, call it a consultation, call it a meeting of the minds... just promise me you'd steer them the right way... I'm so tired of Hasbro making these head-scratching decisions that keep some of these figs from greatnesst - trigger fingers where they're unnecessary while lacking where they're needed, articulation missteps... it can get pretty frustrating wondering why exactly someone seems to be out to lunch when some of these choices are made. As for the vid/review, try and slip a stinker in there once in a while - I'm getting bored constantly applauding you for your great content 🤣 Bravo, brother!
I appreciate the support but I'm pretty sure they aren't interested in hearing from me directly. It seems unlikely they aren't at least marginally aware of my content. If they wanted my input, they could easily have it. Or maybe they get what they need from my reviews and that's that. The world may never know.
I really like the balance in these reviews. It is a game-changer in terms of deciding if the figures reviewed are worth buying or not. Favourite word of this review: shelf-dive. 😁
As for the neck balls, I think they’re pretty much dedicated to using the big on on top going into the head at this point as it’s basically a feature of the product line to be able to interchange heads at this point so that doesn’t bug me at all. I do like having the ball at the bottom of the neck to help compensate for it though.
If you shine a light on his head the flames light up to bright yellow and he looks exactly like the way he does in the comics! I’m wondering if this is the gimmick and why they have done it like this
They ruined the flame colors of head so they can rerelease him later with correct coloring somewhere down the road. Probably in a set so we buy him again. They will put shading on too if they’re feeling generous.
ive read alot of the old 1960s comics and dormammu is one of my favorite characters. i think this figure is perfect, if they had added any more details i would not have gotten it, i got it because it looks like the old comics character. trigger hands are funny tho
I just got this figure, literally a few hours ago and I managed to get the crown/antler piece further back on the head. I've seen a few reviews like yours where it just rides forward, but it slightly locks in place when pushed back far enough, at least on mine it does, until you turn the head even slightly and it'll fall out. That and the lack of head range bug me, on top of the flames being dark orange instead of bright yellow like the comics or the prototype render, but otherwise I've enjoyed it so far.
I'd have to go searching for it, but on one of the Marvel legends streams they talked about the flames. When the render was shown off at Pulsecon, the flames were yellow and were suppose to be yellow but for whatever reason, when they got ran at the factory they were this color and too little too late to fix it. Im hoping a future Strange can have the corrected head packed in like they did the Onslaught or shadow king heads.
I pre-ordered it, so I guess It'll drop any time now. Really looking forward to it since I missed out on the Legends one and I'm thoroughly done with the Hasbro store exclusives mambo. I'll cross my fingers and hope Mafex or someone makes one in the 6 inch scale, but if not, it sounds like I'll be happy with the one I have, which is good to know, so thanks.
@@Cooleepable dude other than scale, ,because I prefer 6 inch too, that thing is incredible, the Legends one looks like a happy meal toy next to it, and I don't even care about the armor, it's that good haha
Dormammu and Red Skull share the same base buck, and RS has the same sets of hands. Makes it nonetheless baffling but it's the best explanation I can give
Since the boots are unique parts, i wish they were a little longer to give him some more height. He's eye to eye with Red Skull and a little too ordinary sized. Other wise, I assume the trigger hands are just part of that mold so they'd get run anyway. I can have fun with them. I know it's not accurate, but marvel vs capcom has me always thinking of Dormammu with one blue fire-magic swirls and one red.
They could have done so much more for Dormammu. Painted face, a simple wash, or some other small paint apps. This just has the bare minimum in the worst way. Didn't even bother to hide the fact that it's a slightly retooled Red Skull.
I just got hold of this ( & the hood 🙃) and i actually like it more than Darwin :D its a good figure it was hard to not put it to my shelves... I have few space thou.
I also like the BAF as well. I had to use sticky tack to get the "antlers" to sit properly. Even then it still moves when you turn his head. Its my least favorite part of this figure. Along with their choice for the color used for the translucent flame. Its like Hasbro doesn't have eyes sometimes. Just like this Dormammu. The head is just so poorly designed altogether. It really does kind of irk me that its the same Red Skull body mold. So much so the still included gun gripping hands as an accessory. Where are his magic "fireballs" he throws ALL THE TIME IN THE COMICS!!!!
I'm surprised you didn't take more issue with the ugly, ugly joints. Even straight they're too thin. Makes me wonder if they couldn't really have done it better
My favorite Dormamu is of course GUNMAMUUUU!!! The Dormamu who uses GUNS! Don't laugh, I'm only about 50/50 on whether that actually happened in the 90's or not. In all seriousness, the BAF look is the way to go.

Not gonna lie, this figure sucks in its execution. The accessories are useless and the articulation is basic. Not worth $33 (price here in Canada) plus taxes.
Hasbro did the flames on purpose so that they would re-released it with different and accurate paint job.
I like to think they don't do that sort of thing.

"okay, I own this now. What's next" is the feeling I get with a lot of figures, kinda starting to get out of the hobby.
It's a lot of the same mold as Red Skull from the same wave, so they threw in all the same hands he came with, which includes trigger-finger hands
His hands are that way from a crippling arthritis in his index fingers. He got it from space invaders in 1977

Getting more yellow on the face and flame, as you stated, would've also helped knock down the garishness of that yellow belt.
