This mold might be good for a classic Doctor Strange because his original design has a really baggy shirt. They would just have to change the legs and gloves
It’s from my childhood but I’ve always liked the version that Ron Lim used to draw in the Acts of Vengeance storyline. He had the white suit jacket and black pants. Data East also used this version of the Skull in the classic arcade game Captain America and the Avengers from 1991.
For me I like when the plastics are on the lighter side of things. You can easily mod it to be darker to your preferences. It's harder to do the reverse. Especially when you factor in lighting, you might not need it darker.
Thats a great point! Yeah i had to brighten up a few figures in the past, takes a lot more work / prep and breaking down the figure to do a well done repaint vs. quick dry brush wash and accent paint deco job.
dudeeeee, I may grab one of these for the "Ice cube" and "kinda gripping hands" would be sick and PERFECT for black series jedi holocron after a little paint
Great review as always.. Love this Red Skull variant.. 7:45 Gave me flashbacks.. I've had 2 instances where the peg broke because the hinge design was an overkill and also because I forced it.. But the point is we shouldn't have to force a part just to move it.. Anyways, the inside of the hinge is an Octagon already so that alone is enough to hold poses however, Hasbro also added those annoying ridges around the hinge that locks on to the molded slots to the opposite side which makes it extremely difficult to move the part such as the foot in this example and sometimes it doesn't move at all unless you apply heat.. Since then, I've been dissecting those pesky joints so I could sand the ridges, making the joint a little looser than before.. Don't want to take any more chances..
Thanks for your reviews as always. Did anyone else get a strange right trigger hand? Mine was molded with a horizontal joint, but after it didn't move and some heat, turns out it was a side to side disc hinge that was pinned in like any other side to side hinge, wasn't stuck in by mistake, and functioned as normal, meaning the exterior mold was for a up down hinge but worked as a side to side after the soft plastic tore. Wish i could post pics, its weird, nothing I've seen before and i measure my collection in tens of boxes....
I disliked how bright the red of the headsculpts was, so I repainted mine darker. I preferred the more grimacing headsculpt stock, but the big grinning head with paint added. This Dormammu/Red Skull body with additional new parts/overlays could make for a decent Baron Zemo, or possibly a Reavers-style Donald Pierce.
I prefer the trenched coat version but i saw once a red skull where he has a hood type of clothing like he is a nomad he uses a sword and shield i like thT too
Making the lower part of the ball peg will make necks bigger (like the Diamond Selects style), which may no suit the character look. Id rather they place the bigger ball peg in the top as it will fit all head sizes, in look. But you do run into the problem of all previous heads cant head swap. *shrug* i dunno.
I'm pretty fond of Ultimate Red Skull: tattoos, basic military pants and a white t-shirt, leather duster and a skull made from peeling the skin off his own face. And then he got a tattoo on top of the exposed muscle. That had to hurt.
I really like this figure, but hated the Dormammu compared to the BAF from the Doctor Strange line. I also added a shoulder harness from the AIM two pack to this Red Skull, to break it up a bit. I have several Red Skull figures - Red Onslaught, Iron Skull, Trenchcoat Red Skull from the Mandroid BAF - so I can't really pick a favorite.
I preffer his black suits more. I know that this one fits better for the Hydra army colours but it looks "a bit weird" to me seeing the big boss like that.
On sale would get him, eventhough really wanted the character originally. Just really bad tayloring and the plastic doesn't match. The heads look good, though. There are a lot of other figures that are nearly perfect but so hard to find at even a bit more than average price. Like the those puns btw!
How DARE you, Ant? Who do you think you are dropping "If you don't have big enough balls, it's just not gonna work" and then NOT following it with a "that's what she said"? I... I just don't know you anymore. Thankfully that stiff knee saved us towards the end... I'm digging this figure, this is the look I've been waiting for them to give us a Red Skull in, and as cool as the trenchcoat admittedly looks, it just doesn't seem to work well as an action figure, at least not in Hasbro's hands, as they've shown us time and again. Great vid, but I can't wait for you to get through this wave, cause I'm reeeeeally anticipating your Hood review 🤣🤣🤣... Kudos, brother!
Interesting. Even with the double ball neck not being done quite right, I can get fantastic range out of Red Skulls head. Definitely the best Hasbro have gotten out of that type of joint. As you say though, it could always be better. I was glad to see you point out the shading on the heads, I think you're the first reviewer I've seen do so. That was a unexpected surprise when I got mine in hand, as it wasn't shown on any of the promo images and it really brings the head sculpts to life. Anyway, good review as usual, it's always interesting to see your takes on these things.
I actually like the smiling head sculpt. Comically villainous.
With a repaint it can be a taskmaster
He looks like a middle-aged dude you’d see at the gym deadlifting in the corner wearing his old University of Oregon sweatsuit.
I prefer the trenchcoat that he wears in the newer comics but this looks good.

So...
I wish Hasbro would’ve painted the heads in a darker shade of red. The molded plastic looks slightly off to me like it’s more orange.
Red skull doesn't iron his clothes; he's so evil.
Does that also include not washing his hands?

this would be my favorite style for red skull

Thanks to Red Skull, I set my life in order, have a purpose and cleaned my room. Hail Lobster.
My fave version is actually the 80s evil businessman look with one of those long cigarettes

Man that is a great Red Skull Sanitation Engineer figure. You could say he takes heroes to the trash.
I added a dark wash to both heads, so much better.
for my it's my new fav figure and the mold is really good.
Oh the wise words which teaches us from life. " if you got a bigger ball you can get a bigger hole" Well done ! 😁
Absolutely
@@AnthonysCustoms just love these reviews
He is so happy that he got a big gun. Now he can play shoot & block with Cap.
Not a big marvel fan but i like him with that smiling head. Looks like something ud see on a heavy metal album cover

My favorite look was the Toybiz Marvel Legends look; it was reminiscent of the cover of Captain America #263

They could have given him a wash in between the teeth
я на себя набросился
I guess all marvel legends are “8/10” might as well just say that.
You can guess that all you want but you'd be wrong.
