You guys deserve a broader audience, your videos cover so many fields. Useful insights in maintenance, love for bicycles, ASMR(for lack of a better word) and a father - son relationship to name a few. Keep up the good work!
Hey Bikespeeds👋 Big fan from Texas. Always learning something new from your videos. I've been mainly riding my Yuba Kombi E5. Love the ability to carry groceries and/or take my family with me on my leisure bike rides.
Got to say guys like you are awasome business owners who know what they are doing and how to do it. There is a bike shop where I live just like that and the guy who owns it want do you wrong in anyway.
Fascinating video. My son has got one and he hasn't used it for years so I will be using it soon and hopefully it will be ok for me start riding again.
I've just taken one of these, put a rigid fork on it, narrower cassette, surly corner bar and painted it with spray.bike paint. It's made a pretty good gravel bike. 👍
Wednesdays are my favorite day of the week thanks to Bikespeeds. There were some good catches on this service with the QR springs and the tire rotation. I was surprised that you reused the chain. Have you ever had to deal with a customer that is riding tubular tires? I am watching from South Carolina, USA.
@@Bikespeeds I have been riding tubulars for a while and now I have a flat. I don't have a spare so I am going to try Vittoria Pitstop that is supposed to seal leaks and pressurize the tire. Should be interesting.
@@MX5Fanatic try and pull out what ever caused the flat before squirting in the pit stop and as soon as you hear it seeping out turn the wheel so the hole is at the bottom, much line you would a tubeless tyre. Pit stops a great product and usually works well.
Amazing service on that bike this week. The chain and cassette was a really interesting transformation, I'd have assumed the chain in particular was too far gone but it looked good as new at the end 👏
Great video as always guys and I think it’s always brilliant that someone remembers the bike in the back of the shed or garage and gets it serviced and hopefully start riding again. Anyway something to make you smile . Had a bike rattle on my giant propel advance disc 1 and I was 100 % sure it was the headset I thought I hadn’t seated something correctly as I had to replace one of the rubber covers that gives the headset that integrated look and as you know the headset on these bikes are a bit fiddly anyway pullled it all apart and put it back together and still got the rattle. I then started bouncing the bike and what it was a co2 canister in the saddle bag was banging against the seat rail😂. I should have done this in the first place but because the bag had been on it for a couple of years no problem I discounted it from the offset Doh 😖🙄. Anyway now a dab hand at giant propel headsets so I guess I got something from it 🤣😀
We get things like this in the shop all the time, someone thinks they have a bottom bracket worn out or other bearings and it’s just a cable rattling against the frame! At least you fixed it⚙️
Amazing result once again!, beautiful color shine at the end, just got a similar MTB from a local Yard Sale, and I’m planning to rebuild it to bring it back to life, paint looks nice on the one I got so I’m hoping I will be able to bring some shine. Thanks for creating this content, it inspires to bring old things to life once again :)
I'd like to see your process for cleaning up your work area after one of these services. How do you safely dispose of the ultrasonic cleaning liquid, wash towels, reuse brushes, etc. I recently did a full "bikespeeds service" on my race bike thanks to your inspiration, it turned out great but I made quite a mess along the way :). It's way more work than it looks!
It's hours worth of grimey hands on work. That's why some bikes featured here appear to be neglected. Most of us would rather pay for this level of work... if we can afford it regularly.
That chain cleaned up well! On the rear if the tire has those classic chevron style treads I like to deliberately flip them, as the inverted tread has better forward bite if reversed. Nice vid as always
Good lord gents. Amazing work as always. My current bike is a 2021 Giant Fathom 1 and I also have a 2022 Defy advanced 1 en route. P.s. Someone's getting quite good at filming and editing. You're videos are always a pleasure to watch as they aren't bloated for the algo like most. Cheers and Thanks a bunch.
That was beautiful! I enjoyed this more than the car detailing videos! Got here because I just handed in my Carrera Code disk for a service and was curious what they're going to do with it but doubt it'll be this well done!
Thank you for your all of your knowledge and content! As you said in this video, and others, that you don't put pedals in the ultrasonic cleaner (understandably), is there any chance you'd be able to do a separate (generic) pedal overhaul video? Possibly a series of different types of pedals and how to regrease them?
Love your videos, keeping bikes going is great instead of having them end up in the trash. I currently ride a Merlin Ti with full Campagnolo Super Record. It is custom 69cm frame set.
Your saddle would be at my shoulder! Crazy how the worlds so different! My Dads short, although taller than me & all my childhood his best mate was 6’7 even as a kid I used to chuckle at them.
Great video as always. I've got an odd collection of bikes. A Dawes Super Galaxy touring bike, a Genesis Flyer single speed road bike, a Gazelle Tour Poulaire Dutch bike (Omafiets) and a Mongoose Title Pro xxl bmx race bike. 😄
I just love these videos. A couple of questions. 1. would you recommend removing the chain and derailleur as part of normal at home cleaning my bike? 2. If so, I am sort of afraid of taking apart my derailleur. Should I be? Do I need to keep the upper and lower jockey wheels and parts separated (Shimano 105) 3. Do you recommend reusing the quick release or using a fresh one after re-installation of the chain? Thanks for all the great information. I love them all and my lunch on Wednesday involves eating a sandwich on my couch watching your new video!
Hi Paul, it’s really up to you on how in depth you want to go, it’s not necessarily required to take everything apart obviously as a shop with all the kit the work to reward ratio is pretty fair for us. You should be fine reusing quick links though technically they should be replaced every time the chain comes off, hope that helps👍🏼
Personally I don't take off the derailleur because then I'd have to mess with the indexing. I just take off the plate holding the jockey wheels, that's easy. And KMC make "official" reusable quick links.
Excellent videos I find with alot of second hand bikes if I'm buying they have buckled wheels Can you do a video on truing the wheels Step by step Thanks rob

I had a Carrera Vulcan many years back and was surprised how capable it was. Good to see this one getting some nice treatment.
Amazing service on this bike, fantastic work and bet it rides like a dream afterwards 👌

What a fantastic job, many, like myself would have probably binned that chain and bought new!
