Right, now I know Im addicted. As soon as you started to clean the wheels, I immediately stopped the video to check if the the tyre logo was lined up with the valve!!! 🤯😳🤣🤣
Seeing middle range price/performance bikes getting love makes me smile. Just remind the owner to stop leaving it outside in the rain. (You are not in uni anymore)
Amazing guys, one of the best yet! My only suggestion is that you linger a bit longer on the before and after shots, and maybe have a longer outro of the finished bike. It's all over very quickly at the end and we want to marvel at the transformation for longer!
These are always fantastic to watch. Thanks for the effort you guys put in! Would you consider showcasing some different services in the future, for example, a suspension for service?
We’ve got a couple suspension services on the channel, the Giant ATX video is our most recent, if it’s on a bike we’re filming it’ll be on the video 🧡⚙️
A big compliment for your great commentary/narration! Great voice and sound quality and a good balance of general info and details about the bike. Also very relaxing to listen to! There are some serious Sir Attenborough of bikes vibes going on 😀👍👍👍👍👍
I so love these videos, what a transformation on the Rockhopper. Would be fantastic if you could cover a basic shock absorber service in a future video. Thanks for another brilliant video, makes my day. Dave, Mooloolaba QLD Australia
Really enjoy these videos. Amazing care taken , and good narration. Appreciate your work and also that im learning great tips on bike maintenance. Thanks
Putting some copper grease on the back of brake pads is pretty much standard when servicing car brakes. Stops them squealing. No problem at all if you use high temp (e.g. copper) grease!
Brilliant service as usual. I was wondering if you ever come across a bike where the brakes are setup so the right hand operates the front brake and left hand the rear? I was wondering if that was and old school setup.
I do quite regularly. It’s not an old school set up but actually left hand drive, a lot of bikes are coming in to the U.K. from European sellers especially during the last couple of years with supply chain issues brought on by the pandemic. I see a lot more left hand drive push bikes than ever before! People look at me gone out when I explain this!
Very nice! You make me feel less bad about purchasing a second torque wrench (2-6nm) and feeling like I need a third. Got one that's probably made for car work (20-140nm) but good for stuck stuff and some selected screws on the bike - are those the one that have leftys? You mentioned the bottom bracket (40nm?), anything smaller with a lefty? Now I probably still need something in the 5-25nm range or need to rely on my battery drills torquesettings...
1:38 classic shimano BB, seal falls out, bearings crap out. Plastic nds cup cracks, can't reuse them. I've got one of these specialized s in the graveyard pile. No chain stay bridge + the narrowest BB to chain stay tube width = flexy rear end that bananas if you land sideways of a curb. At least the head tube wall thickness was decent on this model
Thanks for these videos, they're an oasis of peace in the middle of th week. Question: I have a miniature vice (attaches to the horizontal surface of a desk... looks funny!) for derailleur work, but I need (want) a bigger one for wheel hub and other cup and cone adjustments. Which size would you recommend? Thanks in advance! 🙂
I worked as a car mechanic for several years and lubricating brake parts is normal, I was surprised to hear you say people find it odd to lubricate the backs of the pads. The pads need to move in order to serve their function, rust and debris can hinder that movement. Sometimes something that seems obvious, one way or the other isn’t always correct.
It's funny, a bike rebuild reminds me of a mechanical watch rebuild.... disassembly, ultrasonic cleaner, reassembly with different types of grease etc...
I dont know how you hold yourself back from taking all those stickers from the frame and replacing those grips - would make a huge difference to the already huge difference your efforts made - nice job!
Drown rear derailleur in degreaser, lubricate jockey wheels and drop some oil on body is a way how to destroy main bearings and torsion springs. Wipe by rag is in this case more gentle and enought. By the way a lot of youtubers do it wrongly like You.
The brake fluid should of been flushed as it's been a least several years since it was flushed last. Once a year is good for hydraulic brakes to have all new fluid put in them.
square brackets... I hope 2023 will be the year where this technology will be stopped. Now it should be only hollow technology like hollowtech II or DUB.
Right, now I know Im addicted. As soon as you started to clean the wheels, I immediately stopped the video to check if the the tyre logo was lined up with the valve!!! 🤯😳🤣🤣
Haha welcome aboard 😂🧡
Wish you was local to me , my local shops dont and can't do half the things you do
My local bike shop is shockingly bad. So wish I had a bike shop like this that I could trust with my pride and joy 😞
@@chrisbenger3298 I do 99 percent of my bike but I would like some decent hubs put on my rims and I've never laced wheels before
@@dougbrett9218 i now service most of my bike, but would be reassuring to know that I had a reliable bike shop if needed 👍
Then do it yourself. These videos make it look really easy. And it is…and fun too!
@@fschurer I will dismantle a old spare wheel and try building it up before I attempt my bike wheels 😉

We love bringing some pride in the bike back to the owner!🧡⚙️
This was my bike. Huge transformation and at a good price would certainly recommend. Rides like a dream. Thanks again 👍
Happy to help🧡⚙️
Since starting to watch your videos it takes me longer to clean and lube my bikes as I do a more thorough job, thanks.
Haha we can’t help ourselves either⚙️
@@Bikespeeds I've also stopped using ptfe spray and upgraded my degreaser, can't run to an ultrasonic cleaner yet though.
Nice work! Lovely mate!
It is professional services. I like to watch your restore the bike. Thank you.
Thanks Tran!🧡⚙️
Massive difference!
One more time your video hypnotized me watching your magic done over an almost dead bike. Congratulations!
Thanks Jorge!🧡⚙️
You do work on bikes very thoroughly 👍👍👍
We try our hardest!🧡⚙️
Hugely satisfying to watch, only wish it was longer. What a difference you made to it.
Thanks for the support! ⚙️🧡
Fastest 12 minutes of my day. Thanks gentlemen for that great job.
We got a 20 minute video coming for you this Wednesday so stay tuned for that one!😂🧡
Great job again buddy🇬🇧👍👍👍
Thanks Leslie!🧡🇬🇧

Cracking job buddy 🚲👍

It’s amazing what you can do with just time and patience🧡⚙️
Get in, first !
Second!⚙️
What a transformation. Well done! I always learn something watching your videos. Thanks
Thanks Vivienne, enjoy the videos! 🧡⚙️
Great work!!
In a future video could you explain a bit more about sizing a bike chain.
Also would be great to see a fork service.
I love watching your videos.
Checkout a video that came out a fair while ago now but the Giant ATX video we did has a fork service ⚙️
Really impressive work!

We actually did one a few months back in our Giant ATX video but will definitely do another fork service when the right bike for a video comes in🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds Excellent, will check it out, thanks

A car is defo not a bike. I always stay away from anything but brake cleaner near my pads or discs.
Agreed!🧡⚙️
Sweet😎
Love your content ❤🔥
Thanks!🧡🧡
Another superb transformation 🇫🇮😎 I’ll be honest I thought that was going to be a new chain for sure.
The video we’re filming today is a 1961 restoration, no new chain on that one either!! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it🧡
@@Bikespeeds looking forward to that video 🇫🇮😎

I even just realised I miss read your question! In the U.K. right hand drive the majority of bikes are left lever rear, right lever front!

"Split beam" torque wrenches can measure in both directions but are trickier to use. Pedals: left one is left hand threaded.

A regular 1 ton-e vice isn’t too big and will do everything you need on a bike. Thanks for watching 👍🏻🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds Thanks for the ad *vice* 😏🤪
if you could only have one torque wrench which one would you recommend
Love to see the comeback of this rusty chain. Did you rub it only with a metal brush?
Just with the metal brush, and oiled it⚙️

It's funny, a bike rebuild reminds me of a mechanical watch rebuild.... disassembly, ultrasonic cleaner, reassembly with different types of grease etc...
What paper do you use when sanding down the disc brakes?
Around 100 grit 🧡
Another great deep clean! But why not just put a new chain on?
5 minutes cleaning this one up is cheaper to the customer than a new chain, everything we do in the videos is for our customers🧡⚙️
I wonder how this guy’s hands end up after a day of working with no gloves 😂 Great job by the way!
Thanks for watching!🧡
What torque do you use for pedals?
What bottom bracket did you use?
Would the chain have cleaned up better if it had been soaked in something like Evapo Rust?
Potentially! It’s something we’ve never really experimented with🧡
now, some years ago i bought a Shimano deore groupset second hand. came across it today. how do i know how many gears it is suitable for?
Look closely at the back of the rear derailleur and it will have a number RD-**** google what you find and that will tell you.
@@Bikespeeds thank you
