Calling a car “undrivable” is to mechanics what “not enjoyable to watch” is to a comedian. That’s not just a “yell”, that’s the most fundamental insult imaginable. Especially considering he was driving the car while calling it “undriveable”. It wasn’t about the message, it was about blaming others in unreasonable language. Even Sky analysts found it all a bit much. That was merely one recent instance. But if you prefer to ignore those and believe in a myth, go right ahead. I used to do the same before realising I was only fooling myself.

Not only that other teams and FIA agree that porposing is an issue that is dangerous they are implementing rules to stop it. But oh how dare lewis says a porposing car is undrivable. And that statement isn't even meant for mechanics. It was a design flaw not a mechanical one. By the way most if not all drivers say this. Max says it all the time when his car is not performing as it should. Charles Sainz Alonso Russell recently said it. And there is nothing wrong with it they are simply stating what they feel about the car, and engineers and mechanics simply make it better. Thats it. So stop making a big deal out of a non issue here. I know I am wasting my time trying to explain this because you made up your mind and will just come up with other stuff. Lewis is a national treasure and a great role model. I hope he stays around to win an 8th title. Whether we have to wait another 1-3 seasons, it will be absolutely incredible when it happens.
Max Verstappen fan here, but with nothing but utter respect for this man. I rooted for him when he first came into f1, as well as when he was fighting Rosberg. It’s a shame there’s so much animosity between Lewis fans and Max fans after last year, they’re generational talents. I hope the true motorsports fans can appreciate both of these guys in years to come.

It's refreshing to read a positive comment like this. I'm in awe of all the drivers, in my view, Lewis is the best but Max is another huge talent. It's possible he could one day threaten Hamilton's records.

Lewis has one F1 championship he won while at McLaren and six Formula Mercedes Cup Championship. The Formula Mercedes Cup was only for the Mercedes drivers with their dominant cars between the years 2014 to 2020 as they had no competition other than their teammates and no team could compete with Mercedes. Very much like the Toyota Le Mans wins with no other LMP Hybrid competition. Way too many people overlook this fact, Mercedes basically bought their championship by outspending all other teams. Why do you think they implemented budget caps. The driver who finished third between those years was really the F1 championship winner.
People give him a lot of shit but Hamilton has always seemed pretty genuine. Even more so now that he is a veteran and the fact that he is always encouraging young drivers like Ocon, Lando, George, Gasly etc.

The first race I went to was Monaco in 2001 whilst working as a contiki tour driver, along with 17 passengers and wow hooked .I’ve been an F1 fanatic since I was 19, I’m 47 now and have been a huge fan since 2007, Lewis’s first f1 season. What a journey it has been. A true great of the sport and the goat in many ways. Such a good human. I love the new breed , Lando George max Daniel etc but this man will go down in history like Schumacher and Niki as a god amoungst the rest. Keep rising Sir Lewis . What this guy has endured through his life to get to F1 is just unbelievable. Not even talking about what he has done in F1. The work he does of the track and change he is driving within the sport is unbelievable. Easy to give money for a children’s charity when you have billions. But the issues he is tackling and the way he goes about it is great. He is a good human being.
He set up the commission with his own 20 million and now they have released the programm to get the underprevileged kids/women in UK coming in to the sport.

I hate Lewis for who he is, how he acts, the things he says. It's not influenced by the media at all. He will never be forgiven for what he did at Silverstone last year. And while he knows he was guilty of the accident, hence the penalty, he still won't apologize for it. For absolute no reason he recently even claimed in the media that it was all Max his fault and that the other drivers are so much better. The whole world knows this is complete and utter b.s. The fact that he states this is pure toxic fuel for his fans. He is sticking to his lies to not loose face in front of his fans. This is something we saw with Donald Trump as well. To quote him: "The more you repeat it, the more they believe it." Lewis and Trump are both like 5 your old kids. Imagine a 5 year old stealing candy and you catching them do it. As soon as you confront them they will try to manipulate you by denying the truth. The amount of length they will go to to defend their truth is sickening if you do this as a grown up. This sort of manipulative behavior is part of several personality disorders. Lewis definitely suffers of at least one of them. Always playing the victim. Always manipulative. Always a hidden agenda. And you guys swallow it all like cake and follow him like a cult and worship him like he is some sort of god. No one questions anything. No one ever doubts him. This felt more like a genuine conversation than an interview. I loved it. Also the scenery added an ambience of calm to his questions for Lewis. I'm not gonna lie; I enjoy Hamilton for different reason than why I enjoy Max, Alonso, Charles and Gasly (my other favourite drivers).

I never understood why there are so many haters for this guy. He is very well spoken and, even though one may not agree with all his views, his arguments are thoughtful and legitimate. Apparently, he is truly humble and grateful for what life has given him, too. He is also a damn good driver, he may or may not be the GOAT in terms of absolute speed but he certainly is up there for discussion. Yes you got it. People love to hate on greatness in the moment. Let's imagine he continues racing for 4-5 years but doesn't come close to winning again I guarantee you will be much more liked. Just like Vettel for example. And even if he does continue to win.. after his career is finished for some years people will appreciate him and people like us, that experienced his era will defend him against future drivers just like old fans now defend the likes of Senna and Schumacher against the current drivers. The animosity started when he constantly addressed Max in the press as 'that guy' A clear statement of disrespect towards a driver that entered F1 at the age of just seventeen. Also his Woke attitude at every occasion, especially when the cameras are rolling, annoys many people. He behaves like he is the Mother Theresa of the grid, but than one with God knows how many luxury houses, exclusive cars, a yard and even his own Yet. Of course there is nothing wrong with that if you can afford it, but when you like to give the impression that you are deeply concerned about all the poor and needy in this word, it makes people feel a bit uncomfortable, to say the least. Than his phoney kindness when he is interviewed . But he simply cannot give one single interview without having a sneer towards Max. Even in Silverstone he felt the need to say that he and Leclerc proved that it was possible to go through Copse with two cars, without crashing into each other. It was a poor intent to clear himself by putting the blame again on Max for that incident. All those things add up, especially in the Netherlands.Personally I think that is the reason he is not very popular here, not because he has been winning a lot. Maybe this has nothing to do with who he really is, but everything with how he presents himself.

I first thought Ignite was involved with Dan Bilzerian, but after hearing the importance of what Ignite is, I'm way more stoked. Good job Lewis. You're a visionary and much more than a driver, which is greater than the rest of the pack by a large margin. I wear a Merc F1 hat during race weekends proudly.
Listening to Lewis answering those questions - some tough ones btw - just proves once again how much of a balanced, humble and good character he is. Even though this season not being the prettiest so far, he`s not moaning or looking for the ones to blame. He`s been out there with team putting the hard work on every race week and trying to figure out that car. And that`s why I am pretty confident that better days will come. ✌
Everyone works hard. Lewis is extremely experienced. Knows what to say. Diplomatic. This is proof of that. Nothing else. How on earth is any of us able to say how he is without having met him once? He’s a legend. He’s extraordinarily talented and determined. That’s all we know for sure.
Lewis is ACTING like he is so ignorantly innocent, because he needs "the people" to think he is the perfect example of "a balanced, humble and good character". I think he tries too hard. But some people buy it.
Ofcourse he's good, but not legendary. Schumacher left the best team after winning the championship, moved to a struggling Ferrari and built the team up from the ground together with people he gathered around him. He had to fight 4 years there before achieving the most dominant winning streak in F1 history with 5 driver championships in a row. At the same time he was a leading force in making F1 safer and because of that definitely saved a few lives. Now that's legendary.

I'm Dutch and i'm a Max fan as well.....Lewis will be remembered next to Schumacher and Senna as the best drivers ever!!! I still enjoy his driving but i think the new generation has arrived and let them prove to be as good as Lewis in his best days. Lewis earned his place in the Hall of Fame!! I can’t stand the interviewer’s questions but Lewis handles everything with such calm, grace, and intelligence. He brings such a maturity and respectfulness to the sport and he’s doing his best to do good for the the sport + the world. I will forever be in love with his heart and in awe of his brain!

For me it's nice to see him facing some adversity again. This feels like 2009 and I kinda like that. He's had some great battles because he's not been running away with it
Lewis is such a great role model and he will win this season. This man deserves everything that he has worked so hard for. Realizing the car isn’t the best and makes his car the test subject to project the car forward. Could’ve been selfish and forced it on George but he took it upon himself to find out the best setup and is now driving like his true self and getting the best result out of the car for the past couple weekends. Hopefully France is his chance to get on the top step.
Do you even hear what you are saying? How does this all make sense to you? Lewis wants to win. Not because he wants to win, but because he want's to be seen as a winner. This makes him feel secure and gives him the confidence that he can't find in himself. Read up on psychology if you want to learn how these things work for some people. Him being a guinea pig for test parts is because he want to be in control of the testing because he desperately wants to find something to make his car go faster and he doesn't believe Russel is up to the job. Being slow and losing to your teammate make you look like an average driver so it's also very convenient to pretend to be nobel. So indeed very selfish of him. So now that you have given it some thought, do you still believe he is a great role model and that he deserves everything? Or do you see the deceiving manipulative personality that he actually is? What he says and what he does or think are 2 completely different things.
I saw this interview on the live channel 4 show , which Lewis loves. Steve Jones always asks him the relevant questions, and they are both genuine. Lewis is an amazing talent, probably the best there ever will be, he is an awesome human being, helping people who have less, with Mission 44. The GOAT. Consistent as can be. Yes he had the best car for a long time but let there be no doubt: He delivered time and time again, no matter the material. One of the rawest talents that started racing karts relatively 'late' compared to other racers. Started winning rather soon nonetheless. I hope he keeps his young spirit and raw will to succeed alive long enough to keep performing, because he still is performing incredibly well. Silverstone 2022 was a treat. He showed his usual raw speed yet measured approach to racing. When everything is said and done. When all the current critics and hypetrain-writers have moved on to writing bits about the next controversial BS, Lewis his mission remains sincere, Lewis his achievements will stand. Lewis is just one unbelievable person. He gets abuse , hate , racial slurs thrown at him & still he remains a true professional with his calm manor when he speaks. Mark my words when he is gone from the F1 scene people will say i wish we had more wheel to wheel action like the Hamilton days or i wish we had battles like Hamilton how with drivers. People need to appreciate the amount of success & eyes lewis has brought to F1. Ive loved watching him over the years battling with many so many different drivers & winning titles so when he retires it will be a sad day.
14:55 he definitely wanted to say more, but he was being mindful of the setting. As an African-American, I can totally relate to his choice of language. Blacks in the UK, America, and elsewhere have to be careful in how we describe our struggles in public settings due to unfair repercussions. It's inspiring to see Lewis thrive despite these challenges.

He race with Schumacher along with Vettel and he had made great history in F1 and gives inspiration to next generation f1 racer. Even some of you guys might hate him but he just being himself introvert but people often misinterpret as a rude person, but he just don't bother to hater, that just his personality. He always tried to stay positive even he haven't win this year and always gives good example to young generation. Even he is a F1 racer he tried to tell everyone could always chase their passion regardless what people say.

Different car chassis this year so the old methods of making the car faster won't necessarily work. The Mercedes engine doesn't seem as strong in the new car either since even Mclaren has fallen behind.

I Believe that, at the present, the younger lads are HUNGRIER, (and hence more focused) for their first or second world championship, than Sir Lewis is for winning his Eight world championship. He is far more Talented than all of them . Even if he doesn't win it this year, if he goes back to basics, and remain absolutely Focused, he will win another World Championship or Two.....

Lewis Hamilton is the man, he's my sporting hero. The fierceness he has on the track and his calm composure out of the car he wears better than anyone else. I'll admit the campaigning stuff isn't my kind of thing, though if he truly does believe in it and feels rewarded for it then all power to him. Hopefully he wins an 8th title, there will proper celebrations if he does!

That’s not just a “yell”, that’s the most fundamental insult imaginable. Especially considering he was driving the car while calling it “undriveable”.
It wasn’t about the message, it was about blaming others in unreasonable language. Even Sky analysts found it all a bit much.
That was merely one recent instance. But if you prefer to ignore those and believe in a myth, go right ahead. I used to do the same before realising I was only fooling myself.

The car was undrivable because It was porposing, making it dangerous to drive. This was just a fact which the WHOLE TEAM agreed on. Not only that other teams and FIA agree that porposing is an issue that is dangerous they are implementing rules to stop it. But oh how dare lewis says a porposing car is undrivable. And that statement isn't even meant for mechanics. It was a design flaw not a mechanical one.
By the way most if not all drivers say this. Max says it all the time when his car is not performing as it should. Charles Sainz Alonso Russell recently said it. And there is nothing wrong with it they are simply stating what they feel about the car, and engineers and mechanics simply make it better. Thats it. So stop making a big deal out of a non issue here.

Max Verstappen fan here, but with nothing but utter respect for this man. I rooted for him when he first came into f1, as well as when he was fighting Rosberg. The first race I went to was Monaco in 2001 whilst working as a contiki tour driver, along with 17 passengers and wow hooked .I’ve been an F1 fanatic since I was 19, I’m 47 now and have been a huge fan since 2007, Lewis’s first f1 season. What a journey it has been.

What this guy has endured through his life to get to F1 is just unbelievable. Not even talking about what he has done in F1. The work he does of the track and change he is driving within the sport is unbelievable. Easy to give money for a children’s charity when you have billions. This felt more like a genuine conversation than an interview. I loved it. Also the scenery added an ambience of calm to his questions for Lewis. I'm not gonna lie; I enjoy Hamilton for different reason than why I enjoy Max, Alonso, Charles and Gasly (my other favourite drivers).

I never understood why there are so many haters for this guy. He is very well spoken and, even though one may not agree with all his views, his arguments are thoughtful and legitimate. Apparently, he is truly humble and grateful for what life has given him, too. The animosity started when he constantly addressed Max in the press as 'that guy' A clear statement of disrespect towards a driver that entered F1 at the age of just seventeen. Also his Woke attitude at every occasion, especially when the cameras are rolling, annoys many people. He behaves like he is the Mother Theresa of the grid, but than one with God knows how many luxury houses, exclusive cars, a yard and even his own Yet. Of course there is nothing wrong with that if you can afford it, but when you like to give the impression that you are deeply concerned about all the poor and needy in this word, it makes people feel a bit uncomfortable, to say the least. Even in Silverstone he felt the need to say that he and Leclerc proved that it was possible to go through Copse with two cars, without crashing into each other. It was a poor intent to clear himself by putting the blame again on Max for that incident. Maybe this has nothing to do with who he really is, but everything with how he presents himself.

Listening to Lewis answering those questions - some tough ones btw - just proves once again how much of a balanced, humble and good character he is. Even though this season not being the prettiest so far, he`s not moaning or looking for the ones to blame. He`s been out there with team putting the hard work on every race week and trying to figure out that car.

Ofcourse he's good, but not legendary. Schumacher left the best team after winning the championship, moved to a struggling Ferrari and built the team up from the ground together with people he gathered around him. He had to fight 4 years there before achieving the most dominant winning streak in F1 history with 5 driver championships in a row. At the same time he was a leading force in making F1 safer and because of that definitely saved a few lives. Now that's legendary.

I can’t stand the interviewer’s questions but Lewis handles everything with such calm, grace, and intelligence. He brings such a maturity and respectfulness to the sport and he’s doing his best to do good for the the sport + the world. I will forever be in love with his heart and in awe of his brain!

For me it's nice to see him facing some adversity again. This feels like 2009 and I kinda like that. He's had some great battles because he's not been running away with it
Lewis is such a great role model and he will win this season. This man deserves everything that he has worked so hard for. Realizing the car isn’t the best and makes his car the test subject to project the car forward. Could’ve been selfish and forced it on George but he took it upon himself to find out the best setup and is now driving like his true self and getting the best result out of the car for the past couple weekends. Hopefully France is his chance to get on the top step.

Being slow and losing to your teammate make you look like an average driver so it's also very convenient to pretend to be nobel.

Lewis is just one unbelievable person. He gets abuse , hate , racial slurs thrown at him & still he remains a true professional with his calm manor when he speaks. Mark my words when he is gone from the F1 scene people will say i wish we had more wheel to wheel action like the Hamilton days or i wish we had battles like Hamilton how with drivers. People need to appreciate the amount of success & eyes lewis has brought to F1. Ive loved watching him over the years battling with many so many different drivers & winning titles so when he retires it will be a sad day.

He race with Schumacher along with Vettel and he had made great history in F1 and gives inspiration to next generation f1 racer. Even some of you guys might hate him but he just being himself introvert but people often misinterpret as a rude person, but he just don't bother to hater, that just his personality. He always tried to stay positive even he haven't win this year and always gives good example to young generation. Even he is a F1 racer he tried to tell everyone could always chase their passion regardless what people say.

I am totally with him on this...bring the youth into the sport....As an 81 year old fan of the sport, I do NOT understand the attitudes of the older racers who have give Lewis a bad time. They would have no idea of the skill involved in racing the modern F1 vehicle. The oldie's cars were just basic by comparison...! The old fuddy-duddies should shut up and move over...they just have to accept the fact it has all passed them by now!
To be honest i would rather drive todays cars, than the death traps they had in the 50s and 60s. Safe to say safety has come a long way.
The interviewer is right though. W/ all the things that Mercedes has on hand and they still haven’t figured/ made that car faster? It’s understandable that LH doesn’t want to say it, but ain’t no way he isn’t thinking it. Hopefully they’ll get it together before he retires which will be sad. Different car chassis this year so the old methods of making the car faster won't necessarily work. The Mercedes engine doesn't seem as strong in the new car either since even Mclaren has fallen behind.

Honestly no matter whose fan you are, you gotta respect the things the man has done on and off track.
lewis hamilton is the GOAT of F1. against all odds, he managed to break all records while still being able to juggle with activism, philantrophy, business n personal branding... n while also being the only black driver EVER to drive in F1 coming from such a humble background. being the only black driver in the sport is impressive. but to win 7 drivers championship n was extremely close to win the 2 other ones is extraordinary. you combine the two its just above the level of fanggio, schumacher n all the other GOATs. yes in F1 you cannot really tell who is the GOAT but when you factor these circumstances that i just said, it just really made sense

I'll admit the campaigning stuff isn't my kind of thing, though if he truly does believe in it and feels rewarded for it then all power to him.
