As a fan of Lewis, I think Max is 1) A fantastic driver and 2) Down to earth now he has matured. When I first saw him race, I knew he would be a WDC. As a Lewis fan, I was obviously not happy with what happened in AD, but that wasn't Max's fault (and Lewis knew that, which is why he congratulated him) He is doing what Sebastian and Lewis did when they had the fastest cars and good luck to him - he's driving well, and fairly, as both Lewis and Fernando acknowledged at the last race.

To do this for such a long time you have to be something special. Coming from a Dutch Max fan. The 2021 season was the best season ever. They were pushing each other so far ahead of the rest of the field. Unbelievable.
Max has a team behind him of mainly British people. Max his talent coupled at that of Christian Horner, and Adrian Martin Newey, they are British. The whole crew in the pit box is British, the workers at the RB factory in Silverstone are British. The Netherlands is a British colony across the channel. No wonder so many British F1 fans love Max.

They weren't 'poor' but his father had to take out loans for Max to be able to get on with karting. He worked himself on his karts not with hired engineers and other hired staff like a lot of them had. They drove in a Van every weekend to karting tracks in Italy and back home right after, not in a private plane like others. They worked very hard for all of it so they and especially Max deserves everything he has now.

We here in the Netherlands have seen more these kinds of interviews with Max, already from the beginning of his F1 career and he hasn’t changed a bit. It’s a lack of interviews in English like this one for the rest of the world to see how max really is and we already knew. Max is honest, down to earth, straight forward and funny. no BS and slick talk, we all know who I’m talking about.

I have to say the F1 coverage by F1 with Laura Winter, Will Buxton, Sam Collins en some others is a really nice alternative and in my opinion much better than Sky F1.
Max is a top lad! and generational talent , the disrespect he gets from so called Motorsport fans / media is appalling. Most of my British family and friends support him and lando, some have watched F1 since the 70’s so they know genuine class when they see it.

Great interview. Love hearing questions that aren't just typical weekend talk. Shows more of the driver's personality than just asking them how the car feels this weekend lol
And some say he's arrogant. He's not. He's a down to earth guy that loves to win. Because winning is just the best feeling there is. And now that he has achieved his goal of becoming world champion, he's much more relaxed and doesn't make the mistakes like he used to do before he became champion. And he's still getting better and better.
He is so down to earth, seen that comment a few times now but his stayed so normal after all his succeses. but on the track he is a monster and is so smart, this year he's almost unbeatable.
Max just lives for racing, it's all he's done his whole life. 9:00 liked that fashion question, you can see it's clearly not what he's about. If people don't like him, it's simply because he's kicking the ass of their favorite driver.
I honestly can say that he, of any ‘famous’ person from the Netherlands, is as Dutch as can be. Honest, down to earth and ‘behave normal, that’s crazy enough’ attitude. Family and lifetime friends are the most important in your life, if you hit a high that’s great, if you hit low they will be there. That’s the way to do it.
I’ve worked with NATO as an officer with the US Army so I had many opportunities to interact with people on that side of the pond and I am convinced that Max is the most Dutch dude I have ever seen in my entire life. If you rolled every Dutchie into one guy, he would come out looking and acting like a twin of Max Verstappen.

Well at 67 years I have a very good instinct regarding the who the what and the when. Max is a very welcome breath of fresh air. The beauty of this is he will stay this way always. He's the best of the best and give everything that he can regarding the racing wherever that might be. Michael Schumacher will be very proud if he could know that Max fills his shoes 110%. He does not need best wishes for the rest of his career he already have that from me. Disappointing, Steve, good interview but you had to tease him. I'm British and I've always been a huge fan of Max. He does in fact have quite a huge following in the UK. Nice to see Max think that, don't let anyone else think different as it's not true.
Kudos to channel 4 for this interview, I usually despise everything else they do, but this was a good interview. The interview gets better towards the second half, when the questions are less F1 focused and more fun. Its not as mundane and repetitive as these interviews with Max usually are, where they ask him the same generic questions again and again, in fact Max actually mentions as much in the video. Max does have UK fans btw, I'm one of them, lest ye forget RBR is a British racing team.
Agree with everything except the last part. They are an Austrian racing team although I do understand why you said it. But just being based at Silverstone doesn’t make them a British team. It was Austrian investment and Austrian people that created the team and they were sent to Britain to be based out of to give them the best chance at success.
What I admire about him is he is still the same guy who started in F! all those years ago, very down to earth, grounded, highly intelligent, gracious, can laugh at himself and an over the top achiever! I have been on team Max from the very early days and it brings me such joy to0 see how his journey is progressing so far, onwards and upwards Max your a Champion in so many ways in my eyes Dx

When he won his first worldchampionschip in the interview with David Coulthard, when he asked Max, who are you? Max responded, I am Max verstappen and like to drive in cirkels, while David Coulthard wanted him to say I am Max Verstappen and I am a World Champion! So humble he couldn't almost say it! Couldn't believe it himself!

Max is so transparent. He didn't change at all, even a bit. What you see & hear is what you get. He speaks with such sobriety and has a typical Dutch demeanour. Max is so charming because of his simplicity, yet he was born a super natural talented F1 driver. I admire the guy so much 💪🏻😎🧡

He's really grown up a lot in the past 2 years. Great attitude for a champ and not too full of himself in interviews or trying to push an agenda. He just focuses on driving the car.
I went to the GP in Montreal this year, and the merchandise data speaks volumes. You could buy hats, shirts, jackets anything for any team, but you could not get a Red Bull hat anywhere at the race, zero Red Bull hats left two days before the race. Despite what the media promotes he has a massive fan base.
Nah that wasn’t rude, just a bit of friendly banter and Max reacted very well, smiles all around. Obviously these guys know each other and get along pretty well.

What a great interview with Max! You can so obviously see he's much more comfortable being interviewed on Channel 4 by Steve and also by DC for instance and more open than to most other interviewers especially the other 'British F1 'channel'. Good job again guys, love it, ❤🙌

Max Amazing just sounds so right because it is, he is so focused and nerves of steel,I have noticed how a certain group will always mention the greatness of the red bull car but just cannot acknowledge the great driver that goes with that car,the testament of great sportspeople surely should be to admire and acknowledge the greatness of somebody as exceptional as MaxAmazing.
I didn't expect that, but they have good chemistry.
This is why max is so loved. He calls it like he sees it, straightforward, no PR BS. What you see is what you get. Love it. (A quality i would say that he shares with alonso and Kimi)

Great interview. Love hearing questions that aren't just typical weekend talk. Shows more of the driver's personality than just asking them how the car feels this weekend lol
And some say he's arrogant. He's not. He's a down to earth guy that loves to win. Because winning is just the best feeling there is. And now that he has achieved his goal of becoming world champion, he's much more relaxed and doesn't make the mistakes like he used to do before he became champion. And he's still getting better and better.

He is so down to earth, seen that comment a few times now but his stayed so normal after all his succeses. but on the track he is a monster and is so smart, this year he's almost unbeatable.
Max just lives for racing, it's all he's done his whole life.

I honestly can say that he, of any ‘famous’ person from the Netherlands, is as Dutch as can be. Honest, down to earth and ‘behave normal, that’s crazy enough’ attitude. Family and lifetime friends are the most important in your life, if you hit a high that’s great, if you hit low they will be there. That’s the way to do it.
I’ve worked with NATO as an officer with the US Army so I had many opportunities to interact with people on that side of the pond and I am convinced that Max is the most Dutch dude I have ever seen in my entire life.
If you rolled every Dutchie into one guy, he would come out looking and acting like a twin of Max Verstappen.

I feel like you guys at Channel 4 are really good at bringing out the side of Max that media doesn’t portray as much. Like this interview and of course **that** taxi ride back in 2021. They were just great to watch!
Well at 67 years I have a very good instinct regarding the who the what and the when. Max is a very welcome breath of fresh air. The beauty of this is he will stay this way always. He's the best of the best and give everything that he can regarding the racing wherever that might be. Michael Schumacher will be very proud if he could know that Max fills his shoes 110%. He does not need best wishes for the rest of his career he already have that from me. My wish for him is many more fantastic races, to stay safe on the racing track and stay the winner that he is.🏆Amanda from South Africa..

Disappointing, Steve, good interview but you had to tease him. I'm British and I've always been a huge fan of Max. He does in fact have quite a huge following in the UK. Nice to see Max think that, don't let anyone else think different as it's not true.
He does like Steve, if you see their interactions through the years it's always with a bit of fun and teasing.
It's all just banter mate.
Max has been an inspirational addition for both the young drivers and F1 fans, no hypocritical virtue signalling political rhetoric, just pure racing!

Kudos to channel 4 for this interview, I usually despise everything else they do, but this was a good interview. The interview gets better towards the second half, when the questions are less F1 focused and more fun. Its not as mundane and repetitive as these interviews with Max usually are, where they ask him the same generic questions again and again, in fact Max actually mentions as much in the video. Max does have UK fans btw, I'm one of them, lest ye forget RBR is a British racing team.
Agree with everything except the last part. They are an Austrian racing team although I do understand why you said it. But just being based at Silverstone doesn’t make them a British team. It was Austrian investment and Austrian people that created the team and they were sent to Britain to be based out of to give them the best chance at success.

What I admire about him is he is still the same guy who started in F! all those years ago, very down to earth, grounded, highly intelligent, gracious, can laugh at himself and an over the top achiever! I have been on team Max from the very early days and it brings me such joy to0 see how his journey is progressing so far, onwards and upwards Max your a Champion in so many ways in my eyes Dx

This is how Max is in Dutch interviews, most down to earth sport superstar there is. He basically just loves racing and doesn't care about the fame and money surrounding it.
yes and also humble, when you say that at forum's everyone is laughing, but he is actually! not bragging or whatsoever. When he won his first worldchampionschip in the interview with David Coulthard, when he asked Max, who are you? Max responded, I am Max verstappen and like to drive in cirkels, while David Coulthard wanted him to say I am Max Verstappen and I am a World Champion! So humble he couldn't almost say it! Couldn't believe it himself!

Imagine what a bitter person you must be to hate this guy. Most down to earth and genuine champion we've had in a long time.

Just the right balance of respect, humour, and irreverence. It's obvious that he put Max at ease right away, and poof! An awesome interview. Max is so transparent. He didn't change at all, even a bit.
What you see & hear is what you get. He speaks with such sobriety and has a typical Dutch demeanour.
Max is so charming because of his simplicity, yet he was born a super natural talented F1 driver. I admire the guy so much 💪🏻😎🧡

He's really grown up a lot in the past 2 years. Great attitude for a champ and not too full of himself in interviews or trying to push an agenda. He just focuses on driving the car.

I went to the GP in Montreal this year, and the merchandise data speaks volumes. You could buy hats, shirts, jackets anything for any team, but you could not get a Red Bull hat anywhere at the race, zero Red Bull hats left two days before the race. Despite what the media promotes he has a massive fan base.

How rude from interviewer saying no one is going to root for him. There are couple of people amongst British crowd who likes him.
Nah that wasn’t rude, just a bit of friendly banter and Max reacted very well, smiles all around. Obviously these guys know each other and get along pretty well.

Certainly not rude at all! These 2 have a good relationship and the banter already started at the very beginning of the (great!!!) interview. A bit of 'poking' a guy to tease him and directness is always good and Max fielded it perfectly.
