I had exactly the same problem on my 84 FJ1100 ! I followed your video and it's fixed ! Saved me just buying a new starter motor. I wouldn't have had the confidence to do it without your video. Huge thanks 😁👍

Good vid. Here's a tip, if you need to remove the airbox, it's easier to loosen the bolts holding the subframe. Then you can move the subframe to create the room to pull the airbox back a little.

You have the upgraded 4 brush starter motor found in the fjr1300 much stronger than the stock 2 brush fj1200.

Greetings from across the pond. Am entertaining an FJ purchase in the next few days. Not sure if you still have that one but I enjoyed your problem solving processes about the brushes and then the bushing. You seem to grasp that *someone* got it together at some point and you can do the same. I also liked your philosophy and you and the bike growing together. Subscribed. Cheers.

Thank you! Yes I still have the bike Its had its 'shaken' bi-yearly road test and now its going through the process of registering it for use in Japan. Should be ready in a few weeks

Hey do you only use an fzr 1000 rear wheel. No further adjustment needed.

Yes the starter wasn't the problem on my bike. It turned out to be a faulty starter relay
