After 30 some bikes in all varieties and almost 60 years of riding I could not be happier wth my decision to buy a Himalayan. It's going to take me over the TAT. I'll ride it to my beloved Washington state from here in Florida and then on to show off to my brother in Alaska. It really did it all calmly and with ease
Very good review. A most capable motorbike. One of the best features is its simplicity. And air/oil cooled. No water pump, thermostat, fan, coolant, radiator, hoses, etc. And no hot air blowing on the rider, when over working in an already hot environment. I like that it uses low end torque effectively. Wheel spin is nothing but wasted energy. Tractability moves you forward. RE got it right, on this one.
Nice review ...I've clocked 27000 km on it ...it's been 2 years ...bike is a good companion and it might not be the most powerful or the high tech but it has it's character which is different and connects well with the rider...long roads or no roads it's there for you. Brings a smile every time you ride it.
I just recently bought one and as it was growing on me I still wasn't quite sure about it (I'm still within the break-in period... less than 300 miles). Then I mounted the tire combination I use on all my other bikes. WOW! With the new tires I am now in love with the Himalayan! It can definitely perform! I generally live in a sandbox and the stock tires are good in dirt and some loose stuff but not in deep sand. My tire combo does allow the Himalayan to perform in deep sand 😁 (the tire combo I use is Dunlop D606 rear & Perelli MT21 front).
Glad to hear you like the bike. Upgrading the tires is a great idea especially when you ride more off road or tougher terrain. Thanks for the tire recommendation.
Way to go.kudos.Any friend of the Himalayan is a friend of mine.Ive been owning this baby here in Mumbai.India since 1&1/2 yrs and its a man's bike .Its Robust& Metal,Not plastic like the others.thx.
This bike is really good on the Indian roads. I have been using mine since the last three months and the rides have been really good...especially through country roads off the normal highways.
I liked the video-nice balance of talking and instruction as well as good video both on and off the bike from different angles. One of the thing's that impressed me most about the bike is the handling on road through tight twisty road sections but also as you say it inspires confidence off road as it is so very capable in many challenging situations.
Great review. I'm coming from off road riding/racing (if you want to call it that :)) and previously mountain road/track days/road racing. Been off the street for 9 yrs because ultimately I was bored. I feel like this could be my bike to come back with. No temptation really to crack the throttle on the street because this isn't it. Commute, cruise back roads, and maybe squeeze a trip in occasionally. Trying to think of any other bike that would cover the same territory without being massive or grossly expensive. WR and CRF 250's seem boring... guess that's where the utilitarian charm comes in.
Hey Jeff, the Yamaha or Honda 250 are both small bikes. For the sort of riding you describe above the Himalayan is a good bike. Really easy to cruise around on and when you feel the itch to go off road for a little bit it's plenty capable of doing that. You should try to test ride one and see what you think. Thanks for watching!
Good overall review.. I've been practicing your core riding tips. Very helpful. I consider the Himalyan to be a torquey little mule, with an afterburner! 😁
Really surprised that you like the Himalayan. I have prejudged the bike, thinking that its motor, producing only 25 HP and 25.6 lb-ft of torque, would be a gutless wonder. When purchasing my 2022 Honda CB500X, I didn't even consider the Himalayan for that reason. Thanks for enlightening me!
It’s not a super powerful bike but it’s very easy to ride. Especially for riders lacking off road expired it’s a great way to get into trail riding. Have you ridden much off road on the CB?
Great review not only commenting but showing each detail about the capabilities of Himalayan! Very soon will be arriving here in Brazil also and it will be great!
Guilherme Moto Relax thanks a lot! Tried to show that the bike is capable of some real off road riding. Enjoy the Himalayan in Brazil. Thanks for watching
Very good review. Versatile value for money bike that's hard to fault. There's lots of after market gear you can add that will make it even more capable. You can add performance kits that will take it up to 474cc from 411.
Hit that like button in the first minute when I saw you ride the Himalayan over that rough terrain. Quite a treat! Plus I really like your review. Good thing you went into such detail. I have been eyeing the Himalayan for a while here in India but I am going to hang on to my old KTM Duke 200 with high profile 70-30 road-dirt tyres for now.
Sedlak Offroad School Oh, I know I will enjoy the Himalayan quite a bit but I would like to see what other manufacturers bring to the market. Still waiting for BMW to launch their baby GS here in India. But it is only natural that if I pick up a Himalayan, I will be lurking around your channel quite often! Ha ha!
this bike is a mule, if you want to go in remote places you do not need a race horse, you need a good old mule. if you ave a problem whit the fancy computers on 2 wheels no one can help you in the middle of Kazakhstan or any stan or Africa, this one can bee repaird anywhere by a village mechanic so i vote for the mule.
Very impressive to see how well it manages the difficult terrain. I have one question. In the video I see the rear wheel locking up occasionally going down hill - I had understood that the ABS could not be switched off. Any information?
jtsinspain the 2018 model in the US didn’t come with ABS. They made that upgrade for the 2019 bike. Thanks a lot for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed the off road action. I had a lot of fun on that bike.
Really enjoyed your vid! Not many vids of the Himalayan doing steep uphill/downhill and over chunky rocks like you've shown. You mentioned it can go over logs. Do you think it's a good bike for someone to learn how to clear logs on or is it really only for an already advanced rider like yourself to be able to do things like that on the Himalayan? Would it be easier to learn to clear logs and go over bigger rocky terrain on a Kawasaki KLX230/250?
Thanks for the positive feedback! It will be a lot easier to learn riding rough terrain on the KLX. The Himalayan can clear rough terrain but it is mainly build for the road. The KLX will be lighter and it has a better throttle response making it a lot easier to learn. I have a video of the KLX 140 on the channel where I go over some of the benefits. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi - Great video. There's not enough reviews of the Himalayan in the US yet. Question for you, you mention that you rode in California, did you get the bike there or another state? I'm waiting for mine but the CA dealers say it's not released yet. Also, I'm a tall rider, about 6'1, do you think it will be uncomfortable (more so than normal) for longer rides? This is one of my main concerns. Thanks!
Hi, I got my bike in California but it was a media bike from Royal Enfield. They should be available soon. I’m 6ft myself and I felt a lot more comfortable than I thought I would. On longer riders I sometimes moved back on the seat (were the passenger is supposed to sit) to stretch out a little bit. I don’t think you have to be worried. Let me know what you think once you ride one 👍🏻
Hi Ted, Thanks for watching. The US version of the Himalayan is fuel injected. It makes a big difference so hopefully RE will bring the fuel injected bikes to other markets as well.
Imam Jaferali In India RE bikes like 500 classic and all are known to last 5 decades, not sure where u heard parts falling off there mate. Dumbass i have one and it has plastic
Cool review. I just got back from a 3000km adventure ride on a Himalayan. The bike did very well. I would happily take it again.
Balaji Devanathan thank you! That sounds like a really cool trip. I can’t wait to come to India and do some exploring around there.

Awesome ''Do it all'' bike!
I already put 10000 km on my Himalayan in 3 months...I love this little bike

One of the best reviews out there, really enjoyed it, thanks , this could be my next
Thanks for watching!
Liked and subscribed...BTW all those bad comments about the bike from India are by people who haven't ridden the bike..
erichhere thanks for subscribing 👍🏻 Yeah I think most people will change their mind once they spend more time on the bike.

you can pull a fuse for abs on almost any bike or car. kindof annoying but there is an 'off' ;)
2019 as switchable rear abs the 2020 euro5 model as no longer the switch but still can be done whit mod

Is it okay to ride hard on the extreme roads with the oil cooled engine ?
~From Meghalaya ( India )
Yes, I had no issues spending all day in tough off road conditions. Thanks for watching.
I believe it is carbborated. .not fuel injection...correct me if I'm wrong...good video anyway
Hi Ted, Thanks for watching. The US version of the Himalayan is fuel injected. It makes a big difference so hopefully RE will bring the fuel injected bikes to other markets as well.
Here in India, RE brought out the fuel injected version a year later..
And I believe the carbourated version is discontinued.
:D
Good review. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Off road the Himalayan shines, on road needs an upgrade - oil cooler, more power, acceleration, on/off ABS braking.
Have you even ridden this bike?
It has an oil cooler.....
Himalayan is Air & Oil cooled both
Nice review keep do it
Thanks for the kind words.
Wohooo!! My Enfield is in USA .. how was the build quality btw ?
RJj Clips really good so far. I didn’t have any issues with the bike so far. Absolutely enjoying it :)
Does this one have a switchable abs?

No, it’s fixed
I have one :D

Tubed tyres yuk
whats wrong with tubes?
Wtf hw Street bike 😅😂🤣
