These type of games are always so fun, it's so nice to know even a professional who has probably beaten the game multiple times can get messed up by these bosses it's like an art of humility
Yes, it gives you a pretty good challenge. I love souls like games and I was a big fan of the Nioh series so enjoying this game a lot. Stopped using weapon imbues for bosses as well just to make it more fun for the future bosses.
Damn you made it look easy, took me almost 2 hours to beat him xD But ended up with almost same playstyle as you where I was using the ice trap, it felt really cool to always bait him into that trap
Nice! Also nice to see someone else investing in Fire/Water build, I love it! Ps: also nice to see another girl kicking ass in this game, we rock sister
Another impressive demonstration. Just reached this boss, a humiliating defeat first attempt. I’m running with an earth build and the same dual swords. I may have to back to Water.
Thanks Peter! No need to go water. Just take the level 1 ability of water and use it to douse his weapons fire whenever he casts a critical and you dodge it. If uou deflect it, it goes away anyway.
I did it! Didn't follow anything u said but watching you gave me hope. Grinded 25 morale with 2 reinforcements and somehow got all the deflects. It was hard but wasn't as annoying as Zhang reng
I beat him immediately after changing my weapon to the Soaring Ursine Mace with the Panther’s Gift martial art. Once I would deflect his red powerful attacks where he is briefly stunned I just immediately did this martial art on him and it brings his spirit so low that I just have to do it twice in order to get his big red stun where I can deliver a massive blow. Rinse and repeat and got him- just needed the perfect martial art.
Nioh and Nioh 2 were definitely different cause of Stamina playing a big role in basic attacks as well. Deflect was not applicable as default and only on certain weapons. Honestly, I like both playstyles. I am a fan of the nioh series but I loved Wo long as well! :)
Thought I was pretty good at deflects Fought him Became a damn god Also chased him-NO. Wait for him. Backup or move around, but he’ll come (FORCES you to git gud. No, amazing. May be one of the hardest bosses fought including many SoulsBornes) Just…wow. This chick is an absolute, “Chad”? What’s the ladies badass name?

Well your damn right I’ll check it out! This lady made me look silly! Well at least till I understood “deflect dummy” I’d love to! (Any tips on getting your spirit filled faster? Ah it’s in the game, just gotta read stats. And you are a, “Chad” (there’s gotta be a name, you’ve made me need to look for it😂👍✌️ (Ok so…there’s just too much of a debate. Looks like Stacy maybe? Or Christie or Chrissy or… Look, you’re THAT so, screw the name-ur badass👍
Should've guessed ice works well on him. For me if you parry his jump fire attack it extinguishes even without ice. Too bad my build is full fire accumalation and extra damage to burning targets. Also with double blades.
Mine was the same. I just learned a couple of ice spells and had points in water due to dual blades so got ice on blades too. Only changed a couple of pieces of gear I had lying around having ice accumulation.
@@Hawkishere my water branch is 20 something due to the scaling of dual blades. So, should be easy enough to get some spells. I just recently realised that Lu Bu is way easier without companions.
Ya they are the popular choice for fast attacking but stats gain is something people will need to account for since most dual blades focus on Water element to gain the most base stats unless you pick dual saber or dual axe instead which focus on sofferent stats. If you are looking for a different weapon that is not dual sword for Water element then there is a Curve Sword that focus on water element for main stats gain and the other is fire element focused. Curve Swords are in a Strange spot in this game since it does not focus on a specific element and there are only 3 in this game being the starting weapon (wood focus) then the other two is gained later which one is fire focus and the other Water focus. Both are for a gear set being the fire focus one is for a set that boost martial arts and finisher attacks and the Water focus one is for the gear set that focus on using Range weapons which has a effect that gives your Range attack the ability to Slow debuff enemies it hits and auto recharge 2 bow arrows every finisher hits.
I wish I could reset my skill tree. I feel like I spread it out evenly between Earth, Fire, and Green too much. May invest all in Fire going forward. What do you think
Really depends on the weapon you want to use. I wanted to play a burn accumulation build. And dual swords are fun for me. Hence distributed mostly in fire and then water for weapon damage.
You can respec at any time in the Hidden Village. Speak to the old man in the hut behind the flag and select the top option. You can do it an unlimited amount of times.
You neglected to mention the double-critical follow up attacks he does but I think you didn't get to see them since you were so powerful you killed him quickly.
Oo powerful. I personally thought my hits were barely making a dent to his life bar since I was all fire and needed to be more frost. Edit : yep. Like 16 damage swings lol. And my ice attacks were doing like 10 damage. I doubt that is powerful.
@@Hawkishere just looking at your overall DPS it's about 1.5 mine in this fight. Even the critical attack damage is about 1.5-2 times. The damage is very high. But that is kind of irrelevant anyway? Like who cares. I'm just theorising as to why you didn't see (and this didn't explain) the double-critical attacks he sometimes does after 50% HP. As far as I can tell there isn't an obvious telegraph and he just does it randomly. But if your DPS isn't so high like yours you'll probably see enough criticals to encounter a few of them. I was getting 2-3 per attempt. Unfortunately if you try to punish him after the counter his critical follow-up will hit you, so it would be good if someone could figure out what the telegraph is and teach people. Overall a fun fight, if a bit easy.
Interesting! Well thanks for the insight. I did a lot of attempts this fight just experimenting for the guide. I think I did notice it in one of the attempts if I recall it but it wasn't something I wasn't able to counter or had a problem with.. Maybe because I was using ice traps on the ground and it countered his fire attacks, he did not do a follow up? Maybe I'll go back and check once I'm finished with making everything.
@@Hawkishere interesting theory about the ice, it's possible. I didn't have any viable spells or elemental damage for this fight. But when you counter the critical it dispels the fire weapon anyway. It's kinda like the hedgehogs, how they roll and even if you counter it they sometimes turn around instantly and roll again. He has completely unique follow up critical attack animations for each of the criticals he does, as far as I can tell. In fact I think most humanoid bosses have a double-critical attack since I've seen a lot of them do it.
Agree! I also really liked Zhang Liao if you face him solo. I did not even know that you can remove companions till recently. They only make the fights more annoying to deal with so solo is the way to go! :)
Should be able to - I plan to do a level 1 run anyway so would be fun without using anything. Meanwhile, I did defeat his monster version without using heals or water :) ua-cam.com/video/wF7BWI1A-Zc/v-deo.html.

Most welcome! Glad I could help 😀
