- While it received some freshening up for 2021, the Dodge Durango SRT still packs the same 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 475 horsepower - enough to run toe-to-toe with some purpose-built performance machines like BMW's M cars. Agreed. I went to my local dealer and drove one and yeah it is a killer vehicle. The 21 interiors are awesome. But man I don't understand why anyone would want to pay 900+ a month for a vehicle at all. I wanted a rt with the tow n go package and at 60k fully build to our specifications, 750 a month is still more then I want to pay. And who the hell has 10 or 15k to just drop as a down payment. Vehicle prices are nuts. If I get a durango I'll stick with a gt plus I guess. 550 is way better.
@@kuhndog-1196 I ran into the same issues so I ended up leasing an MDX from Acura for 490 a month with 0 down... msrp was 58900. Can't beat that lease, dodge all suck at leases.
Well, he’s saying in relation to an X5M or AMG. It’s about 30% less than those.
I bought a 2021 SRT 392 - didn't take the brakes package or the DVD package but got everything else including the Demonic red combined with the Interior upgrade group it looks amazing inside
A;most the same here, a 21 but with no demonic seat/moon roof or dvd. Got everything else though, even the 3 season tires. Got it used like 2 months ago with 700 miles for 75, not a bad deal.
I bought a new one in 2018. 2.5 years and 40k miles later this has been a solid ride. Not much maintenance except for the routine stuff. The ride is a bit stiff. But I'd rather have that all day long than a sponge feel going into the corners hard with a 5500lb vehicle.
Agreed. Bought mine in Oct 17 and have 41k miles on it. Not a single problem yet.

I rented a Durango RT and it didn't hold a candle to my 2019 Flex Limited. Felt sluggish without turbos and Dodge doesn't even put adjustable pedals on it. Wife couldn't wait to get her Flex back. Also the OEM tires are trash. Triggered the traction control systems constantly because it slipped so much.
@@SteveLord only one way to find out how sluggish it is, line them up lol! Also I prefer rear wheel drive vs fwd like on the flex unless you go with the awd limited trim if I recall

Still don’t understand why the 6.4 in the trucks has such low hp and torque when this has so much more. I understand that one is used for hauling stuff and one is used for hauling a**. But the 2500 has been stuck at 410/429 for so long!! Bump it up with some performance parts!! Then drop it into a 1500!!

13 city - 19 highway is exactly what the 4,100 lbs 2006 300C SRT8 with the 6.1 and 5 speed auto was rated at. So pretty good when you consider the extra power AND especially the extra weight of the Durango.
Tommy, seriously, people who buy that vehicle for the motor do not care about how pretty or how cutting edge the interior appears.

I would love to get one but I've heard from several people that the water pumps are not reliable and break. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
Not sure I’d consider this an “M hunter.” The X5 m501 is quite a bit quicker and a full fledged X5m is easily showing this thing it’s taillights all day. Still a decent value for what you’re paying though.
With the AWD of the SRT Durango, few other performance SUV's will be able to beat it stoplight to stoplight.
Maybe they've fixed the damn tail lights. About 75% of the Durango's, including mine, have had water leak into the LED tail lights burning out the lower portion. Costs $1000 to fix.

The interior has been improved. Too big of a vehicle for my taste, but people with a lot of kids and gear might go for it.
I have an older one, I never found it too big...but that is definitely a personal thing for sure. To me it seems to have a lot of interior room for the exterior volume. Maybe twice in 4 years I had any size issues in the city, with like parking. I can manage a full size van or truck down town to with not too many challenges though, parking can be tight with the full sizes, but the Durango almost a non issue. I have over 400,000 Km/ 250,000 miles on mine and it has the 3.6L V6 5 spd @ 23mpg highway; no doubt the 8 spd gets even better mileage.
Would really like to see a turbo 6. Yes I love my hemi but would like to see something new besides complete electric. Really like how Ford Integrated the gas and electric in the f150
You got a SRT 392 and saying the ride is too firm…get an RT or the base model. The reason I wanted the SRT is for the performance aspect.
I still wanna see a mashup between the Durango Hellcat, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, and the Lamborghini Urus. I seem to recall each one has claimed to be the fastest SUV in the world at some point.

You didn't show the console were the drive selector used to be or how to change 4 wheel drive modes? Does the new Durango still have 4L?
The new Durango SRT models are AWD. The computer makes the decision on which wheel(s) receives the power.

You can get a nice BMW X5 for 70k .... not as big as the Duango ..... but it matches many of the 392's performance .
And BMW’s quality definitely surpass Dodge’s.

Very disappointed with this video. You claim this is an "M Hunter". Then the only thing you mentioned about the "M" is that it's much more expensive. Seems like you didn't have a plan going into this video. You didn't know the towing capacity, you didn't mention too many of the features, didn't prove it's worthy of competing with an "M", nor did you give any reasons to consider this over the "M". I usually like your videos but recently they seem to be moving away from details towards generalizations. As a 392 Durango owner, I was really interested in watching this but felt underwhelmed. I hope you take this as constructive criticism and do a more thorough job in the future.

I love the SRT but I’m unfortunately from the Chicagoland area and everyone is stealing nice cars like this. Also that new RT with the TowNGo is a real bargain. 10-15k more for the 6.4 or save money and get the 5.7 with all the SRT parts 🤔 ?

4,7 sec 0-100? A 2.0 liter 4cyl TSI VW Golf R kicks it’s ass then...... Not to mention a 2.0 liter 4 cyl A45S AMG....
This has nothing to do in the league of the X5M Competition or a GLE63s AMG
4.7 is off. FCA advertises 4.4 and there are reports of 4.1ish (mostly stock). I have personally gapped a Golf R and I'm at 7k feet in elevation. As for the X5M and AMGs, yes they are quicker by a few tenths. But they are also $40k more expensive which is the whole point they are trying (but unsuccessfully) to make. The Hellcat Durango will smoke the Germans and still $20k cheaper. But back to your original comment, being within a few tenths does get you in the league.

Realistically speaking the legendary Dodge V8 engines have been gone for 50 yrs with the exception of the HC 6.2 L
You can tell the difference when you pop the hood...you could loudly hear the clunkiness...my X5M not so much...
74 is a lot of cash for a Dodge. Besides, it does no compete with the X5M. More with an X5M50i. About the same money. And that 50i is going to leave this one in the dust. PS: I`m no Dodge hater, I own a Charger Hellcat. I think the RT with the TNG package is the sweet spot.

Wondered that for years, a short bed reg cab with a 6.4 would be crazy, but they probably think it would take too many sales away from their higher margin products, where a guy would buy a charger and a ram 1500 instead of just a 1500.
