Nice. Did that with my Equinox, and it was nearly that simple. But had to use a aftermarket fob, and one only cut channel key, then tricked it into thinking it was a new key, but removed the fob, and subbed with aftermarket. Really easy, but semi-tricky. Nice explanation!

@@MrRockydee07 The pins are a standards OBD pattern. BUT, I am NOT sure that the newer cars will work like this. It depends on how they are designed. You could cause some issues if they changed this procedure in 2000.

I did this video a couple years ago. #4 & 8 are on the wider part of the connector. (Maybe upside down on your car) If upside down, you might be shorting the 13 & 9 by accident? Can you see which in the drawing match up to which bank also either have or don’t have pins? Be careful, you don’t want to fry something.
@@mikeneff832 Could be some computer issues. I can’t really guess. I am pretty sure all those cars came equipped with remote door locks. Might be hard to find a tech & shop familiar with those older cars.

Did what you said, then when I pushed Lock the peer seat went forward, and the outside mirror started moving, and the trunk button does not work, and now my inside trunk release does not work either
I went back out and did it again, my trunk inside and out does not work, my ignition key foes not open the trunk, my power mirrors move while pushing lock and unlock, my drivers power seat moves forward and backwards, but I'm thinking that may be an option that the car comes with
I wonder if the car has the option for each driver where it sets mirrors & seats for you but if different FOB is used it sets seats and mirrors for them?
I have a 96 Park Avenue but I can't seem to get mine into programming mode, my OBD2 doesn't have terminals in the same spaces either, any suggestions or help?
@@BecBec1967 same issue here. My car forsure came with a fob. I have the original ones and used them for years. But my car has no terminal 8 and is not upside down or anything. Was able to enter programming mode but the fob won’t sync.

I imagine it would short something out. That said, I have just read your other note. I would look at fuses. Was trying to see on the web which fuse it might be. So far, I have not found. PCM maybe? Check and let me know. Do you have your owners manual? (For fuse location and which does what)

I followed these exact instructions & my car would not start afterwards. I had to hire a mechanic to make it start again. He said i blew some fuses and to never follow what they do on youtube. Remote still does not work
I bet you got the pins upside down. As you mentioned, trying something on you tube is not without risks. It is possible it is something else besides you remote. What make, year and model is your car?
@@MrTNorris67 Had lots that have followed this and got it programmed. Glad your car is back up and running. Maybe it is on the receiving end of the car that cant “hear” the signal. A shop can test the remote to see if it is working.
I try this in my Regal 1998 and don;t work...when you put a jumper is to connect point A to point B...in this video you jumped hole #4 to #8 who is empty...
Could it be you are missing #4? If so, you are looking at it upside down. Should be there on a 97....turn my diagram upside down. Note the connector is wider where 1-8 is. Narrower where 9-16 pins are. Does this help?

@@manuelsanchez4947 Thinking you blew a fuse. This is correct procedure. If correct pins jumped, should not have popped a fuse. I don't have owners manual as I sold the car so not sure which and were they are located.
it wasn't upside down, found a different procedure. had to hold the unlock button and insert the ignition key 3 times, leaving it in the 3rd time. let off the lock button and it went in to program mode. then i just held lock and unlock on the remotes and it was all set.
This worked great for both mine and my wife's remotes. Also I just clicked on this video for the information, but Mark is delightful to listen to!

Don't ever use graphite or wd 40 on a lock. Use a silicone spray like blaster brand. Works so much better even in cold weather.

No, i did exactly what you instructed. It is for a 1996 Buick LeSabre.

Humm. Regal must have different pins. Not sure why. I would have to look at diagram again. It is not upside down is it?

Could it be you are missing #4? If so, you are looking at it upside down. Should be there on a 97....turn my diagram upside down. Note the connector is wider where 1-8 is. Narrower where 9-16 pins are. Does this help?

Chevy Impala is different setup. You don't use a paper clip either. I will have a video on a 2007 Impala later this year. Not sure how soon. Sorry.

top wide part is top wide part. narrow bottom part is narrow bottom part. If you are laying on your back like I was, it is the right way up.
