I so enjoyed the road trip. Losing a friend/calling it quits is something I went through a few years ago. Friendships are not forever. I was best friends with this person for 15 years and then had to end it suddenly. I still think of her and the many fun times we had together knowing that we have both moved on. Ending it was for the best.
Love the style of your “ travelling in the car” videos - nothing scripted just talking about whatever is on your mind.
I can relate to letting a friendship go - we were best friends through elementary school, high school, first and second boyfriends and worked at the same company- until she told someone something I told her in confidence and it came back to bite me in the butt. I never spoke to her again. PRIDE kept me from reaching out and making any effort to work it out. She never tried to reach out either and now decades later its just a faint memory. I regret I wasn’t mature enough to ask why she did what she did and getting closer.
It seem like you have reached out to “H”? by sending flowers/congratulations but she responds by inviting your ex to her wedding- I think your instincts around ending the friendship originally were probably spot on.

Pride is deadly! I’ve always been the one to reach out and mend things etc but sometimes you need to draw a boundary and I have no regrets doing so. Hi Daniel! You're so right about the friends who come into your life. I don't have many friends either, but the ones that I do have are the true ones. I also have certain family members who don't involve me in anything. Yes, it hurts, but I know what they're like, so I'm content with the way things are. Yes!! I definitely have a “give the shirt off my back” mentality and i bring it with me into friendships and romantic relationships. But, i can totally relate because it took me a waaay long time and a ton of hurt and trauma to understand not everyone is that way. I totally hear you. Most of my bigger traumas happened in my home state (Massachusetts) but i continued to have a hard time getting it up until a few years ago. Finally starting to understand how being selfless can be a bit of a problem sometimes. Sending tons of love ❤️ and hugs 🤗

I appreciate your honesty and dignity. I too am a honest person and I am especially down to earth if people needs me or if I need to. I always give my 100% to any friendship or relationship, because I prefer to have close in connections then a million friends that I just say hi to.
One of my biggest issues I realize is that I can never let go something so easily. Whether it's with trauma, criticism and friendships too, I can't really move past it so easily. Ofc when time goes by, it's still in my memories but I can easily talk about it without the topic affecting me so much.
When it comes to friendships, it's even more hard to realize if that person even enjoys being around you because we aren't our other friend and even so people can be unpredictable. People change and grow and life will always move forward. I never knew I needed this advice so much, not because I have friendship issues (I'm mostly on good terms) but I have an issue between who I should stick around and who I should let go. Life is about creating balance. Good things are more lighter to carry, while all the sad things are more heavy. It's completely our choice which to keep and which to release. It's not easy to let go, but anything that is so heavy will break you eventually.
I appreciate your authenticity and how transparent you are. Keep making good content and I'll always enjoy your home style/travelling content. It's so calming and I too relate to enjoying nature and hikes so much. Wish you the best. Those people don't deserve your time, you deserve people that want more for you instead more from you.

I feel like through every decade of your life you go an inventory friendships…in my 20’s, 30’s and now 40’s. Some of them hurt more than others but it opens your heart for what you’ve learned in that friendship. ❤

Friendships are tough sometimes as you don't want to get in the way of things but you want to be there for them. Just giving people the space they need is important and hopefully knowing that they will get in touch with you when they're ready. I have let go of friendships because of the lies they have told instead of being honest with me. I have a best friend of 10 years and sure we have had our ups and downs (the downs being made from the friends I let go of (it was their fault)) but I am so glad to have her in my life. I know that we will be best friends for the rest of our lives. If you have a best friend, it is best to ask them what you can do for them and also to think how they benefit your life.

I feel you, Daniel. As Sagittarians we are extremely loyal and value loyalty so very much that it is hard when we don't get that back. I very much value who I am so I never feel I am on the losing end when this happens. It's definitely quality over quantity when it comes to friends. I would rather have 4 quarters then 100 pennies. I have had to cut off friendships too and even from family at one stage, it was causing me too much stress and anxiety and making me physically ill. It is hard to do, but sometimes it is necessary for your own well being. My family member and I have sorted things out and back together but my best friend and I aren't and that happens. I just remember all the good times I had with them.

Thank you so much for speaking on friendships so candidly. I have a friend of 15 years who randomly cut me off on my birthday 6 months ago, super hurtful and confusing. I sent her a message 4 days ago reaching out and never got a reply, trying to move on but it’s hard not to think about.

I wanted to share something I've learned and at first, it might sound harsh maybe even a bit jarring but quite the contrary, it's meant to be freeing & bring peace through awareness.
What I've learned is that at one point in everyone's life, the people in your life will part ways with you whether it's for a job, a relocation to a new home, a new relationship, a new friendship, a disagreement, different values, change in priorities, sickness, death and just growing into different phases of life where you might lose things in common with someone you might've had a lot of things in common with in the past.
You come into this world alone on a breath and you'll leave this world on your own with a breath as well. (this sentence is not supposed to be a downer ... lol ... just a reminder that you've been through this before and you got this).
The point of this is to say that those connections play important roles in our lives and some are meant to be in our lives shorter/longer than others whether it's to offer us support, whether it's to share joy/experiences, whether it's to come together & create something or whether it's to teach us (some of our best teachers are the people that are the ones that trigger us the most).
Everyone of those people played a purpose in our lives & everyone that we cross paths with brings some element of value to our lives (that value, moment & memory lives on forever).
So when that time comes where you might have to part ways, you may be sad and mourn the end of a connection but know that you'll be okay in the end because you have the awareness that this is part of the cycle of the human experience, the awareness that you still have access to those memories & moments (no one can take that from you) and while those people may have had a great impact in your life, they are not the source of your happiness & fulfillment ... you are. 💖
you should be careful when coming up and confronting random people like that daniel, i know you're fine and it wasn't like a real confrontation but saying the wrong thing to someone like that guy could lead to something bad because they get pissed off :( love you and stay safe!
I can empathise with you Daniel I had a best friend for 30years and they were there for me through a lot and I was there for them but one day I felt like they had changed a lot and stopped being there. No hard feelings to them I guess we just drifted apart and unfortunately they got ugly over it. Living in a town drains me emotionally so like you I head for country trees mountains and I can feel myself being recharged. Easy isn’t always the best way.
I had a VERY similar friendship with a VERY similar ending. Moving on was the best thing I did.
I'm 62 now so friendships have come and gone but about 7 years ago, I did exactly what you did. It wasn't completely about whether or not they were there for me. I get that life happens but, for instance, one lifelong friend moved to another state and would not contact me when they were in town but post pics on FB with other friends while they were here. It hurts me so much since nothing had happened that I knew of to cause them to completely ghost me out of the blue. Others were "culled" bc I realized they were users, moochers, etc. It's sad to lose friendships but I feel I'm better off for it now. ❤

Sorry about your ex best friend, most of us have been there, and what you said, how some are only meant to be in your life at certain junctures for a period of time is very true. i grew up in a small town in texas (literally like 300 population), so i definitely understand what you mean about it feeling like a "fantasy land".. life moves a lot slower and so do ideas and overall acceptance. its a echo-chamber of the same ideas being spat back into each others minds. very wild lol!! it was eye opening when i moved into a larger city and i was like.. "wait not everyone is awful??"

I'm sorry to hear what is going on in your life. Just remember that no matter what is happening it's just temporary. Everything passes at some point. Surround yourself around with people that have shown you they care about you. Don't waist you time on someone who is unworthy of your affectation. I'm picky in who I call friends and family. I have some family who I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire and I have some friends I care for more than some of my family. I hope you enjoy your time in Montana regardless of what your friend did to you. You're a good guy, don't worry about what you can't change as they say.
