Except in this case, the father put doubts in her head because of his own words. HE caused her to seek out the test by saying that he always wondered if she was really his. It's sad, yes. But, he shouldn't have said that if he didn't want her to go there.

Even with those doubts he still raised her.... He probably only put that bug in her ear due to blatant infidelity, insecurities and pure saltiness. As alot of parents do, drag the kids into the adult foolishness that the kid didn't ask for..... Unfortunately this happens more than it's talked about in dry interviews like this one

    I love the daughter’s statement:
“... I don’t believe our ancestors make us who we are.”
This is a very wise statement. I’ve always felt that way.
Also, the man who raised her should be considered her father.
He took responsibility, emotionally and financially and with his time and effort.
All the biological father did was impregnate her mother in the heat of sexual
passion and walk away - end of story.
Having said that, the three talking with Megyn seem like a lovely family.

I like how this quote is used, however, being black and white myself, does this quote still apply to why black people treat white people unfairly because of slavery? There are people who hate white people because of slavery but this didn't happen directly to them or their immediate family. Yes, ancestors go through things good and bad, but when will we take a person's character as who they are instead of their skin color? Your comment just made me think 🤔

      @SmoothOperator2013 5 років тому +2

@@1rage17 There is nothing wrong with correcting someone's grammar. The problem is people feel insulted rather than learning from their mistakes and using it as self improvement.
      I am correct.
First you state that I am wrong, then you state that not everything has to be perfect. Try to break the sentence up. Her is very pretty? Her daughter is very pretty, but she is pretty. She refers to subjective noun third person. Which means she is the subject of the clause. Her is an objective noun. The direct object or indirect object of the clause.

Our race and sexuality are not a choice. What is a choice is everything else. No matter where we come from, how bad the conditions are or what blood courses through our veins, it’s our perception and how we in which we choose to deal and process it all. And just as important, is our desire and determination to rise above our past conditions and heritage to become much better. It’s where we want to go and and who we desire to be and become. Setting the bar higher and doing better are the words that inspired me by the ever so amazing, Mr. Sidney Poitier.

My grandmother claimed that my mother was fathered by a member of the British Royal Family ... nobody believed her. She was living in a very working class area of London when my mother was conceived. However ... in 1999, long after my grandmother's death, I came across a web-page that detailed the movements of Prince Albert (later to become King George VI) around the time of my mother's conception. He attended a gathering of "working-class leaders", accompanied by only a single companion, at a location very close to where my grandmother was living ... on. believe it or not May Day (it is reported from other sources that the Prince was toying with becoming a Socialist!) He was in the habit of popping over to Paris, incognito, for a day or two, where, so his brother's diary noted, he had liaisons with women. My grandmother claimed my mother was conceived in Paris. If my grandmother's claim is true (that my mother was fathered by a "member of Royalty") then Queen Elizabeth may be my aunt.

My mother told me that when she was very young (maybe about 4) her mother took her to "large house in the country" ... where a man came into her room and spoke to her ... she thought that he was her father. Her mother later told her that her father was "a Duke". Albert was then the Duke of York. In 1930 my grandmother had a total mental breakdown, after the man she was living with left her for a younger woman ... my mother ended up in an orphanage. A "mysterious benefactor" arranged for her to be fostered out and provided for her education.... my mother thought that he was probably a relative ... my grandmother came from a family background that included people who owned farms and were fairly well-off. Immediately prior to my grandmother being taken away to an asylum and my mother being placed in an orphanage my mother said that "Three well-dressed men visited the house ... she thought that they had 'come from her father'". Its possible that money was provided to a family member to support my mother.

He had married and had chldren after he left my grandmother. As he is recorded on my mother's birth certificate as her father his descendents by his wife should have the same DNA as my branch ... if he really was my mother's father. See, eventually down the line,
    Our generation, combined,
    Our connected bloodline,
We can change for the better,
    In time,
    Our future lifetimes,
    True example, may this
    Family shine,

Ppl should stop hating ppl where in the bible did our Heavenly Father say hate your brothers or sisters no matter of ones colour what's colour any way we may be painted all the colours of the rainbow 🌈 but in the end our Heavenly Father our Holy Spirit loves us all equally cause we are all his children ! I prey that this madness will one day stop and everyone will see we are one and the same we are all gods children we are all brother and sisters if we cut our selves we bleed the same blood !!! Hopefully god can open narrow minded souls that hate is not the way it just a festation to eat away ate ones very conscious . I prey for brothers & sisters who have this hate in their core souls & that our merciful holy father Can lift their spirits in a positive way Amen 🙏

First of all their daughter is so beautiful ❤️ Second it's a good thing that the dad that raised her was the dad that raised her because she would have turned out like him too since they learn it from their fathers and mothers, it's good that she didn't grow up with him.

This is such a powerful story. What I took away is that racism is taught based on your environment, upbring, social setting etc and not something that you inherit. So sad!

Very interesting. I applaud this woman and her family are for how they handled the grandfather's vile prejudices. That couldn't have been easy. When I was a young woman, I would've had the same opinion that this daughter expressed regarding how our lives are not determined by our ancestors' but feel differently as I've gotten older. Although as adults, I think we can pick and choose what characteristics we're going to take on but making major behavioral changes takes a lot of self awareness and internal work.

Well thanks for this. I’m on my 3rd decade of searching, and prepared for some bad and ugly, so it’s inspiring to me to hear this story.

Wow !! Did she ever break the rules or what?when you marry someone you are marrying their culture as well, that is the real question, are you prepare to take on their life style, now she will forever be stuck with this whole mess, that is something i could never allow myself to put myself through and that's why i married my own race.i am not prepared to marry a black women per say or a white women for that matter.
