Identical or fraternal? I’m willing to entertain the notion that there may be some type of special, as yet not fully understood bond between identical twins, with "fraternals" though, the relationship DNA-wise, is no closer than it would be had the twin been born years before or after the other. Of course fraternal twins grow up together and thus may develop a closer emotional bond than most siblings, but as to some mystical bond, _maaaybe_ just maybe, it might exist with an identical twin, with a fraternal twin though, no, the idea is nonsense.
@@gregoryreese8491 Umm I'll slide in my input as a fraternal twin and say that what you just typed out was kinda weird and also mildly rude though I don't think you intended for it to be that way. I was blessed with six siblings total and now that my parents are gone, they are even more important to me.
My parents used assisted fertility and wound up having triplets: myself, my brother, and my sister. I don't get why they don't check this things in internet or books. They have patients whit unusual signs and marks which obviously can be a clue to something else and they don't dig into it. Good medical professional is one that approach each case with curiosity and use they brain to connect facts which may be unique for every patient.

According to everyone but house it was lupus until he figured out it never was. I always wanted the finale to be that house ended up dying of lupus. Can you say epic!

Totally fascinating! I can't imagine this condition will bode well for her mortality and that's the worst part. Any illness will be challenging for her body to fight and I wish her the very best.
If she has a baby, it may not belong to her. A woman with this condition gave birth to a child and DNA tests showed the baby was not the child's mother.
False. She would be the mother however her predominant genetic signature may not match that of her ovaries. She carries two distinct sets of DNA mixed in random places through her body, not alien parts hiding in her torso.
Code Name shes not lying it was a documentary. They eventually had to test the womans hair to determine they were hers. They had even taken her kids accusing her of kidnap eventhough she had proof she birthed them. It took years for them to realize it was chimerism
My Granddaughter at age sixteen had terrible pain in her abdomen was rushed to hospital thinking it was her appendix the doctor came out told us prepping her for surgery was her ovary not appendix . Two hours later he come out told showing us photos of her twin inside her ovary there was teeth long hair over this ball like structure the same color as my Granddaughter also fingers just tiny body parts of an infant. My son and daughter in law were so shocked my daughter in law fell apart knowing there had been identical twins broke all of our hearts by the twin being absorbed by my beautiful Granddaughter. Today my Granddaughter is 30 yrs old and has a little girl now age 3 so thank God a doctor was up to date with this knowledge of twin absorption
That moment at 3:25 is so Cringe when shes like "I am my own twin" and then pauses waiting for shocked gasps or something..but nobody reacts. Then Megyn tried to save her 😂
I just learned about Chimera today. It blows my mind that a Mother actually absorbs the cells from her babies into her organs. I also read about this situation where a guy who suffered from serious drug addiction issues throughout his life, was left handed and right footed, he found out he had this condition, he apparently also suffered from autoimmune issues because his hair was falling out in patches. My kids are twins, it makes me wonder if they in the womb, could have absorbed some of each other’s cells? Maybe this can explain the closeness between twins in life. This really is absolutely fascinating. I’m so happy that this young lady was able to get to the answers and improve her health!
I have twins, a boy and girl. My girl twin has multiple problems....PTSD, ADHD, AND so many physical problems.....now, you have me wondering if I would have had triplets.....(they were born in 1963, no ultrasounds back then, and my doctor and I were shocked at the delivery of 2 babies)
Wow. Fascinating. It’s like she knew there was something different. I remember a story of a woman who had a child she gave birth to, but her DNA did not match the child. Turns out she had a twin inside her, and THAT twin’s DNA was the biological mother of the child. I’ve also read that many people can carry remnants of their mother’s DNA in them for life.
I did a DNA test last Christmas and when I pulled up my raw DNA profile, I learned that I have my two X chromosomes but I also have "pepper" pieces of a Y chromosome and to me, this is evidence of the same condition, but of a twin brother I absorbed. I used to have two differently colored eyes, I have a finger with an extra interphalangeal line and a patch of skin on my arm that tans differently and one toe that's longer than the matching toe.
When DNA tests prove someone in jail is innocent, they need to do different kinds of DNA testing to make sure the jailed person doesn't have two different sets of DNA, one making them innocent and one making them guilty!
My daughter has this “birth mark” on her stomach!! I’ve always wondered about it but just like her everyone says it’s a birth mark!! More information on this would be amazing this is very fascinating
@@aricmackenthun47 Technically, no. TTTTS is where one twin's blood vessel system is overdeveloped at the the expense of the other twin, and one or both of them will die unless surgeons can intervene with laser surgery (highly risky) to eliminate some of the overdeveloped blood vessels in the one twin to help equalize the blood vessels in the other. It's very dangerous risky surgery with no guarantee of success, but the only way to save them both. My cousin's twins had it and she had emergency surgery in Toronto mid pregnancy to save them. They did make it to the survival mark of 38 weeks gestation and both were born premature but survived. Both are very healthy but have some mild cerebral palsy.
Martha Dung growing up and going to checkups the doctors told me it’s just hyper pigmentation and my symptoms could be from my eyes ( I had a really strong prescription and got migraines and nausea really easy )
If you look really close you can see her twin sister’s face on the left side? Truly fascinating that the line is perfectly straight, it couldn’t be a birthmark, it’s precisely another pigment altogether.
I would think this happens more often than people would think. Children just "know" at some level but sometimes can't quantify it. I for instance kept asking my mom if my dad was my real dad. She denied each time. I found out in my 60's through DNA testing that in fact, he was not my biological dad! Another man was and it all makes sense now, including the medical mystery that I had been dealing with all my life. He carried the gene for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and I was just diagnosed by a geneticist! Bittersweet, but good to finally KNOW my instinct was correct!
I grew up an only child but I was a twin as well. My twin passed away in the early stages of pregnancy so we don’t know if it was a boy or girl. I wish my twin would have lived and been healthy that way we could have grown up together but I know one day I will see her or him again.
THE ASIAN LADY IN BACKGROUND --------------> Is actually a Triplet. She repeatedly performs 3 different gyrations. She nods in approval. Then her eyes dart to the floor in disbelief. Then she seems to not approve. Interesting triple genre. I wish she was a quadruplet so the 4th child could "set straight" the other 3. And make them all pay better attention to the twins.
I have the same issue on my right arm.It goes from my shoulder to my elbow. When I was a child my grandmother scrubbed it so hard one day thinking it was dirt she made me cry(love my grandmother to bits) but dang she rubbed me raw.My mom came in and told her its a birthmark but boy she sure could not believe it because it was so brown and I am so light skinned.
Truly amazing story. She's deals with it incredibly and she's very beautiful. My question is, knowing how her immune system is sort of battling with itself, is her life expectancy affected by this at all?
My Grand mom gave birth to 3 sets of twins. 1 set lived but other 2 lost their sibling at birth. However my cousin who was born from my single aunt twin, had a physical due to pains in abdomin. Doc. Discovered my cousin had a twin that was fused to her overy it had bone hair and size of a softball. ... odd stuff
My mom and I both have a genetic collagen disorder, making the fetal membranes weak. When I was two, my mom developed a strange presentation of Lupus and when I was nine, I developed atypical JIA. My geneticist has wondered if we had swapped material across the weakened connective tissue...and if we are fighting each other’s DNA in addition to our own.
ReineDeLaSeine14 is your collagen disorder Ehler's Danlos Syndrome? My daughter, 2 granddaughters and I all have it as did my Dad and other relatives before him. Very very painful disease. Or collagen is faulty. Our bodies mfg plenty of it but the recipe within our DNA doesn't make it correctly.
It's likely your condition is genetic, passed through one or both of your parents. As for autoimmune disorders, of which Lupus is one, medical science doesn't really understand it all so far. But there is some validity to the concept of shared DNA but it's usually the mother who takes on some of her child's cells (through the placenta) not the other way around. Possible though, we just don't know enough yet.
She absorbed some of the cells of her twin, whilst a tiny foetus, which gives her two sets of DNA and two blood types. That does not make her her own twin. Sensible audience for not overreacting.
Fraternal twins have 2 different placentas, they cannot fuse after the placentas form because they don't touch. It has to happen before the placenta forms. Chimerism happens with identical twins as well, where they are both in the same placenta so it can happen later. I think she's the identical type because the left side of her stomach is identical except for the redness.
We don't know how common this condition is. A woman was once accused of not being the parent of her child because her DNA test did not match that of her child. Subsequent testing found she had this condition and different organs had different DNA. She did have matching DNA to her child but the original sample was from a different organ with different DNA. Again, we don't actually know how common this condition is. This can cause havoc if trying to rely on DNA for any sort of verification. This can be an issue for investigations as well.
Yeah, I remember reading some time ago about cases where innocent people were nearly charged with a crime, and others where, because the blood DNA from a crime scene, did not match the comparison sample (from cells obtained from cheek cells) and in this case, as a consequence, the guilty party was, temporarily, excluded as a suspect (the woman was later caught and convicted based on other evidence).
How crazy! I have the exact same markings on my stomach. Straight down the middle one side is the color of the rest of my body and the other half is white. I use to get teased by guys I dated calling me an ‘oreo’ but now I don’t feel so odd!
There was an episode of House M.D. about this very thing. When twins get too close, they can fuse together and even absorb one of them like her. Two sets of DNA, sometimes two sets of cells in the brain causing very life-like hallucinations.
My twin was 5lbs 6oz. I was 3lbs 3oz. Boy/girl. He came out first. My parents didn't even know I was in there 😆 but, he got to go home and bond. I was in a incubator like the one for chickens for 3 months. With cracked ribs and a broken leg. The moral to this story is we fought almost daily but, I kicked his butt! Until puberty and he became 6'3 in like a day. After that he won and we no longer fight. People thunk twins are so close we can read each other's thoughts. Not true with boy/girl twins. We are 53 now and I don't know anything about him. If I passed him on the street I wouldn't recognize him. Sad I know. But it's better this way.
And it's not your fault you two couldn't form a psychic bond...males sometimes will even *admit* that they can actually NOT be thinking a single thought in their heads!
Tracy Thornton. Tracy Thornton that may be your experience. I had fraternal twins. Boy/girl they are so intune when she got pregnant he got morning sickness. When he got pulled over by cops for racing she had an asthma attack. When she went into labor he got pains. When she rolled the car and was lost for 12 hours no one could find her he dreamed the exact location of her accident. They are 30 years old and live 4 hours apart and still have the same connection. She smokes he has smokers cough every morning! Twins connected for life! Whether you want to feel or not. Unless your father by different sperm like that dude said in the comments......

So the twin has no tangible effecton her life other than the autoimmune symptoms and the abdomen line
@@fatmahassan1080 Yeah except there was one woman with the same thing where some of her eggs were her twins so what ended up happening was some of her children were genetically not hers.
But for future reference, you shouldn't go around stating that fraternal twins having a special or spiritual bond is "nonsense" because there are plenty of identical twins that hate and can't stand each other and plenty of fraternal twins that are deeply connected to each other.

I love hearing that she has a best friend who is like a sister to her. I pray her health gets better.
I have an identical twin. She is five minutes older than me. We are in our forties and she is my best friend. I empathize with her wondering what it would have been like growing up with a twin, or even a sibling. I was blessed with six siblings total and now that my parents are gone, they are even more important to me.
My parents used assisted fertility and wound up having triplets: myself, my brother, and my sister. There were four fertilized eggs that were put into her womb and there were four heartbeats to start out, but one had suddenly disappeared between ultrasounds. I have a line down my stomach kind of like Taylor's where there's two different skin tones on either side, so it's interesting to think that I could have the same sort of thing as her.
You should watch, The twin inside me. I recall watching it several years ago. Two sets of DNA.

When asked she can say "I'm an only children"
I did a DNA test last Christmas and when I pulled up my raw DNA profile, I learned that I have my two X chromosomes but I also have "pepper" pieces of a Y chromosome and to me, this is evidence of the same condition, but of a twin brother I absorbed. I used to have two differently colored eyes, I have a finger with an extra interphalangeal line and a patch of skin on my arm that tans differently and one toe that's longer than the matching toe.
This makes me wonder how often this could happen and we just don’t know it. 🤔

She probably meant blood types.
Twin to twin transfusion syndrome is when one twin absorbs the other twin. That absorbed twin then becomes a parasite that feeds off the other twin.

Interesting story. I suggest you use the term "abdomen" instead of "stomach" . The stomach is an organ in the abdomen which is used in digestion.
How about "belly" or "tummy?

Doc. Discovered my cousin had a twin that was fused to her overy it had bone hair and size of a softball. ... odd stuff
Wow
What I find so intriguing is that the line is SO straight!!!
Anyone else think of Dwight from the office. “Absorbed my twin in the womb”
The real question is:
Are her brain cells made of two different DNA types?? That will really freak me out. It's like fusion in Dragonball Z.
It's not that she lost her twin, she IS her twin. She is made out of two people. Her twin is alive in her.
Very interesting, but it sounds incredibly hard. My son has had various health issues his whole life, not easy. Hope you both are doing well 💜
You are your Moms egg so it would have to be Dads genes in the mix, right?

Joanna deymonaz Probably not.
