The way he talks about reading the draft, knowing his characters from his family but not knowing the real person, all this makes me think that is how his ideas of "the soul of the emperor" came from

Brandon I believe that you have already left Jordan's shadow. Your work is remarkable to say the least. I would also like to thank you for your countless hours spent teaching the craft to us new and up-and-coming authors. I just finished the copy edit of my book and now we are proofreading. So in a few short weeks my first novel will go up for sale. I have learned about writing from you through writingexcuses and you BYU lectures along with all you amazing works. Thank you.

Mr. Sanderson, your books are... incredible. Your talent is helping to change the face of modern fantasy, and you should feel proud of your accomplishments. We don't need to hear modesty from you, Mr. Sanderson. You don't stand in the shadow of Robert Jordan- you stand on his shoulders, and on those of the men and women who wrote masterpieces before him.
You will be remembered as one of the Great Masters in your own right.

Dear Brandon Sanderson. You are making a dent in the industry with your books. You are inspiring new writers with your books and your classes that you so kindly share for free. You are helping kids and teens find themselves in your books, and not just them, but even grown people. And most of all, you are true to yourself and the vision you have for your worlds. Every one of your books clearly shows that. I might never meet you, shake your hand and tell you this in person, but I hope you know how thankful your readers are for the books you are writing and how inspiring you are to many of us . Thanks for everything. Nikola Dimitrijevic.

Mr. Sanderson, I don't think there is an author alive today that could have done the job you did with the Wheel of Time series. I'm absolutely thrilled with how great the last few books of the series felt, and as a long-time fan (someone who also grew up with these books), feel that you did an absolutely incredible job of maintaining Jordan's vision of this beautiful and detailed world. Thank you. :-)

Brandon, many have already said it, but I echo it. You are not a hack. A great writer and you have made me quite happy in finishing James' books. It broke my heart when he died, to see his life's work go unfinished. It scared me to hear some unknown was going to finish it. And it brought me much relief to see you do it so masterfully. Since then I have read other of your works and loved them. Kudos Brandon, keep up the good work.

I wondered what I would do once I finished the Wheel of Time series. So much time and energy invested in a fictional world, I didn't want it to end. Like in the books, the Wheel turns, and the end of Jordan's era opens up for me the new(to me) works of Sanderson. I may not have ever been introduced to your writing if things had been different. Your writing complemented that of Jordan, and I have pages and pages left, exitedly, to read.
    Thank you.

I'm not from the US, in my country fantasy books are something you get to read because a friend of a friend read it and thought it was awesome, I read Mistborn before I found someone who pointed to The Wheel of Time, and in all certainty when I discovered that Robert Jordan was dead and Brandon Sanderson was the one finishing it was a relief, because it was an author I enjoyed and respected.

I read the entire series starting in Feb. this year and finnished it july this year. I loved all of the books, and was surprised to find the final book wasn't written by the original author because it is very similar to the others. I loved your book and am so happy that someone as talented as yourself could take on the task of finishing the series because if there was no end to that series I probably would have cried.

You. Are. The man. Brandon, I met RJ once and you twice. You are the appropriate mix of humility and (tastefully) stoked fanboy in your task. I am still working through Towers of Midnight, but only once in a while can I tell where RJ's ends and yours begins. You are the best replacement since Sammy Hagar took over for David Lee Roth in Van Halen, except you and RJ are both likable. Thanks for taking the job and giving it the serious consideration it deserves.

You don't need to worry about escaping Robert Jordan. You'd already done that before you started The Wheel Of Time, and The Stormlight Archive is going to cement that. Great letter, appreciate that you are an even bigger fan of my favourite writer than I am. Can't wait to read the new stuff you have coming out soon.

A Memory of Light is on my bookshelf - unread and waiting, like a promise. I look at the smooth, white cover, anticipating what will happen to my friends. Watching this video is like seeing an ending - and I don't want an ending to the WoT. I wait now like I waited 14 times before, but now I wait for the time I am prepared to say goodbye which will consist of enough time to read 14 books, one after another, in one long sitting - that’s when I will say goodbye.

Brandon I am a Huge Fan. I will admit when rumors started floating around about this kid that was going to finish The WOT. The Greatest Literary work of our time and among the greats of all time. I was skeptical.
The first thing I done was look at what you had written after The Final Empire I knew you were a very capable writer. I have not been disappointed yet I have now read all of your works I still rank WOT at the top of any list. You have a couple that would be up there also.

I find the part he said about finding oneself in fantasy books really interesting. I hadn't realized it until Brandon said that phrase in this video, but I really did learn how to be me from fantasy books at least as from any other source.
Another thing I realized is that I partially repress that part of my identity because something tells me that it doesn't apply in the "real world." I'll work to ignore that tendency in the future.

I also grew up reading The Wheel Of Time, and I don't feel like finishing that book series is a shadow over your career. Discovering you *after* Jordan died was one of the best things for me as a reader; I own every book you've published to date and I've found them all really addictive to read. I was surprised by the Rithmatist (it takes skill to make a story about chalk battles exciting - it really does) and while people might roast me for this, you are a far better writer than Jordan is.

Brandon, you have a much better penchant for moving the story along than he did. I stopped at book 4 in WOT because RJ just didn't really have a way with keeping his readers involved throughout the entire books. I am rereading the series though so I can read it with your finishing touches. People calling you a hack are just ignorant, ignore them, or tell them to go read Mistborn or something.

I think that the looooooong wait for the fans and all the theories and collective imaginations came to its own life and formed the perfect ending. We all "knew" A, B and C would happen, MUST happen, and this created a huge expectation. But TOR just had to put in RJs ending as it was written long ago.
The collective fan base simply had more time and vastly more raw imaginative power. So we all came up with a better ending then the one we finally got.

Dear Brandon Sanderson,- as one who started reading when someone I knew told me I HAD to read Mistborn, I only have the deepest and warmest regards for you as an artist. your work has given me understanding and hope, it even strengthened my faith. as one who was convinced that no one could ever write something so totally epic as the hobbit and the Lord of the Rings by Tolkien. no one can even try to challenge him,- but you did. you wrote with your heart and are helping so many writers yet to be published with your lectures on UA-cam. to me, you will always be on the same pedestal as Tolkien. THANK YOU FOR VIN

I firmly believe Sanderson saved the series, Jordan wouldn't have ended it at a memory or light. There was always that possibility he would of dragged it out for another 3,4,5,6 books and it all worked out in the end. Sanderson was able to give us -an ending- we needed.

Like a few people have already stated, you're doing well in your own series of books to come into your own. I've read all of the books you've released. My only gripe is that you seem to keep writing the first book of a series and shelving the rest to work on another series. I love all the stories, but when I finish a book, I'd like the story to continue to its resolution, rather than starting a new journey with new characters.
    My 2 cents.
