He's my favorite actual fantasy / sci-fi author right now. I've read everything from him (I fact I finished Words of Radiance a few days ago) and I honestly enjoy his books and style a lot.
I wish my people knew about his work, I try to talk with all my friends about books and I can't stop recommending him to everyone.
Respect and please don't stop writing.

I've only recently discovered his work. I read The Way of Kings and LOVED it, and am now beginning Words of Radiance.
I tend to shy away from author interviews. I always find it a bit disappointing to learn a favorite author is a jerk in some way. I know that shouldn't have any influence on how I see their writing, but I admit it does.
I enjoyed this. I appreciate that he realizes he can inspire people and not just mindlessly entertain them, and that he writes with that purpose in mind.

Its amazing and Im only at like chapter 6 and I LOVE the characters, so full and I feel like i'm constantly on a leash tailing after them. no offence to Sanderson but we need another guy or 2 like him, most of what is Fantasy in the last 10-20 years (aside from a few giants) can best be described as "readable at best" - then when you want to read nice long books (~ 40 hours on audiobook), there's not much else out there - rothfuss, wheel of time, I imagine malazen are also about that long - anyone with any good suggestions for other books this long?

It's cool to see how many of you are writing just like me, here watching videos of an incredible author. Brandon Sanderson some how seems to take human nobility, and make it something that his characters, while not searching for it, seem to rise to a level of strength and power (typically with some completely awesome power), that inspires me to write.
Brandon, in this video, you say you are working to inspire people? You have succeeded big time! After reading about Kaladin, I feel like Bridge 4 has pushed me to be the most awesome . . whatever I am ;-). Your characters like Vin and Kelsier to name only two, refuse to be suppressed into unhappiness, and grab hold of their lives. Thanks for your excellent, amazing writing. Keep it coming!!

i really want to read some brandon sanderson at some point. his works sound more like the kind of fantasy i'd like rather than george rr martin and such (nothing against him mind you, his books are just too grim and gritty for my tastes).

I need to work more and find people who will trade me novels and proofread. I'm TERRIBLE at catching my own errors. I caught a few in the stories by other authors I read today who were published. I don't care if I sell any myself. It gives me something to share that's inside of me. It's painting what I manage to learn. My worst written book was the most read because it had power in it, a spell. Other than that, I've written children's books. I get better ratings on them.
