Im retiree like you and i always read the Bible that give me more joy in life everyday. And reading the life of Abraham,Isaac ,Jacob and Job inspires me a lot because they lived long happy and contented. They made a good name with God and helped others enjoy life.
Longetivity is the main reason to retire, lots of people in Japan live longer because not only that healthy diet is the key but able to walk a lot of hours a day is very healthy in combination with naps in between, moderate weight training in the Gym, massage, facials, dental appts, MD appts, socialization, vacations and relaxation. All of these are limited if you are still working.
Hi VGrampa and all, Almost 68 here and I am not planning to retire. My work sched for a major airline is so flexible and my workload is so doable. I could fly to any country and get paid too in the form of paid vacay. So how could you not loved what I am doing? In actuality, I am waiting for my wife to retire in 5 years and by then we could have a double retirement. Now, if I die tomorrow? Well we just came back from Lourdes, lighted candles for everyone and petitioned to have world peace and begged a little more time for me and my wife. That’s all.
I retired early at 62 grandpa. Now I’m enjoying everyday of my life. I’m planning to stay in our country for months and come back here in USA to have my check up, my mammogram and Obgyne. Thank you .
I am battling with this now. I have had a home based business for 25 years. Plan was to retire at 52 and move to the Philippines this year....but now starting to back out. Im afraid I will be bored in the Philippines. Ive been there 13x....married to a Filipina and been to Thailand 3x. Problem is....the people who look like they are having the most fun in Phil and Thailand are the people on vacation. The people retired there look to be the most miserable in both locations.
No, Don't apologize! What matters is that you are in good health and enjoying life! No one knows how much time we have here on earth and so we should treat each day as if it's the last day of our lives. I pray 🙏 that the lord will keep you and your precious family away from harm. Have a safe trip Kababayan! 👍
Lucky are those who can retire without financial and health coverage concerns. Some people don’t want to retire because of the feeling of self importance to the job or to the company. They should realize that after a few years of retirement the company and its workers will forget who you are and the great things you think you did accomplished for the company. Retire early and enjoy life as life is short.
Well comeback GrandPa good to see you again, That’s very true on what you said about retire I retire for two years now , sometime I told myself y did I retire? When you retire you own ur time , do what u want to do . Compare to being imployed ,you have to do the job first before leisure…. Yeah we really don’t know when we going to die?
Welcome back! Great philosophy. I've retired because I enjoy being in control of my own life and no longer living on a schedule. I want to help others in my retirement, pay it forward lifestyle. FYI, we didn't have to do anything online before we returned to the Philippines at the beginning of January. It was back to pre-covid processing.
Really? You mean e-Travel is now discontinued??? Could that be right? Here's an article dated Feb 1 2024: www.natlawreview.com/article/philippines-reminder-etravel-registration-mandatory-holiday-season#:~:text=Philippine%20officials%20reiterated%20that%20registration,Key%20Points%3A&text=As%20BAL%20previously%20reported%2C%20the,entering%20or%20leaving%20the%20country
VG, if you have a nice income to retire early, why not. Enjoy your golden years. I am only 58 and already falling apart. Luckily my business keeps me afloat, but money to retire, I don’t have yet
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. My retirement includes grasping that I can no longer move the needle. I appreciate your blogs because you are through and therefore you do not waste my time. We must all live with the choice that we either get busy retiring or waste our time waiting for the sun to set. The journey has to be more important than the destination. But the destination makes the journey worthwhile.
Good to see you back, Grandpa! I was in the Philippines last December, and the immigration did ask if I had e-Travel of which I had. My wife and I (66 and 67 years old) are covered with Federal Insurance Health Benefit (FEHB), being a federal retiree myself. We opted not to take Medicare Part B.
Good to hear you are back, I am your avid fan and learned a lot from your videos regarding retirement, investment Phil vs US to stay. I retired 2 yrs ago😊 enjoying life.
One reason to retire is, that after age 60, we only have 25yrs or less to live. Might as well do whatever we want. Finding what you enjoy doing may take a while, but at least you'll have a good time with less stress Finding it.
...'Always think and believe that tomorrow you will die". Wow, that's a wake up call for me lol. I love my job so much but I have to let it go in 3 years God willing 🙏. Time to go places while you're still 💪
You still have to register for e travel for each passenger. And you have to do it coming and leaving the Philippines. Also note the presenting of the two passports may not work again. Seems some of the immigration agents will not stamp the Filipino passport if you present the U.S. passport along the same time. Perhaps it’s the mood of the individual agent or their power trip mood.
I wish my brother can do what you’re doing but the problem with my brother is he doesn’t have the money . He was a mining engineer in the Philippines and when he came here he was working as a security guard till he retired. Now he’s just relying on his SSS and living in California that it will not go a long way.
I'm Retiring August 9th this year, I'll be a little over 62 & have Full Income Replacement from my Pension & Social Security. I was planning on working until 65 when I can get Medicare. But, [like you said] I'm tired. I can afford Health Insurance in the Philippines, I don't have tendonitis in a hot climate & i can take a three year vacation in SE Asia while I decide where I want to live...
Hurry back to Manila. The weather is much better here than the East coast. Retirement lets you travel like you did in the recent months. Hard to argue over that.
Any advice on how to handle needing health insurance before 65? That’s my greatest concern as I don’t qualify for Medicare yet. Health insurance is so costly.
Vlogger Grandpa- We missed you- I am planning to retire in the Philippines but I want to know what bank should I use when accessing funds from Social Security and savings? Your recommendations are needed
Hay grandpa I consernd I have an annuity for retirement with life time pay out after the 10 year life expectancy the annuity company will probley want proof your still alive I read it will be a for and probably have to be notarized. Do you know if they will except a notory from the Philippines. Or will I have to go to the embassy in the Philippines . And do you know how often they will ask for proof of life.?
Hay grandpa I called my Ira company’s I have 2 of them. And they both said it 6:56 depends on what kind you have. I have a life time annuity and they said they don’t need proof from me I’m still alive because if I die in the us or the Philippines it is automatically registered in the death notifications world wide..
I retired last December in the Philippines at 57 with $500k and a $1500 a month pension. Living the dream!
That little bit would scare me...invest that 500k or else ypu wil be 77 with 150k in real money.

As soon as you can afford to retire, don’t delay.
You’re right.. I’retired when I turn 55 and I enjoy it very much. I’m 62 now waiting for my husband retirement very soon.
Nice! Just remember than Medicare does not kick in until you are 65--unless you have other medical insurance coverage.
@@vloggergrandpa2707 yup, we do. I’m one of those blessed people.

Best part of retirement is not knowing what to do. You do things impromptu.

I agree that it is costly. Watch my other vlog re this. It's too complicated to discuss via the comment aection.
But if you have a health insurance policy then they would need to send a proof of life form..
Are you Filipino? I can tell by your accent
You are back anong nangyari sarge?
Only busy having fun!

Try BDO or PNB.

That depends on the company. It would be best that you communicate with your plan's administrator.
VP, where are you in Seattle. I'm from Bellevue, WA along with some other seniors that are interested to chat with you re reirement in PI?
I'm not from Washington though I go there periodically. I usually go to Gig Harbor.
