    Hey man, even though i'm not vegan or vegetarian I still find these videos really useful and informative. It motivated me to change snack types and things like that. Great videos!

    That "oooooOOOO!" was the selling point to that peanut butter haha.

    Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I really like when you say that when you're a vegan it is possible to go from feeling amazing to feel terrible. I am a vegan and a cyclist as well and I felt this many times before.
    By now I'm overtrained, because I didn't hear my body and pushed myself too much. I hope that you get on the wagon again :)
    Once I get back to real trainings I'll make use of your tips, they are great man!
    Greetings from Brazil!

      Alexandre Selhorst Being over-trained sucks man, been there before and its hard to get back into the rhythm. Best of luck and thanks a million for the view! I think its crazy to have people all over the world watch my videos, really a humbling experience.

      The Vegan Cyclist Yeah, it really is... I will start to carry some potatoes along, I liked the idea a lot!
      Do you have any special tip on recovering from a burn out? I'm just riding within Z3-Z1, and it is never for more than 2.5 hours. My avg week time is 7.5 hours ride. I'm thinking to do it until I feel the desire to smash the pedals again :D

    Love the potato idea. I'm a big fan of boiled potatoes with salt and vinegar. Red whine vinegar being the best, balsamic is very good, too.

    The best Post ride meal for home for me would be 5-6 Bananas,1 frozen Banana 400mls water and Tablespoon of Coconut sugar Blend for a Carb loading Smoothie !
    Very quick to make,wouldn't worry so much about protein,even Bananas have protein.

    • @TheVCAdventures
      @TheVCAdventures  9 років тому +4

      Scott Payne Awesome stuff man, I gotta say I am a little over bananas. I eat them, but would rather do pretty much anything else. I smashed a tub of potatoes, rice, broccoli, and snow peas today after a 3+ hour ride with 5k+ ft of climbing. IT....WAS....AMAZING

      +The Vegan Cyclist Yeah and yesterday I took some of your videos and watched during indoortraining. "Why I ride" nice one. Really inspiring for me. .....Basicaly it doesn't matter whether it's your or your trainer's knowledge. It's the lifestyle :)

    Great video man, I have been thinking about going vegan but with cycling and wanting to move into racing, I didn't think I could get the same out of the recovery food if it was vegan. Just out of interest though, roughly how many calories are you eating daily? Because i've seen a few videos saying that i'd probably need to eat much more if vegan to get the same energy than if i ate dairy or meat

    • @TheVCAdventures
      @TheVCAdventures  8 років тому +2

      +Daniel Ellis Animal products are pretty caloricly dense, which means usually that you have to eat more, more often to stay on top of your daily needs. Especially when riding a lot. So as long as you can manage that, you should see huge improvements. But just take it slow, I have a video I am about yo upload where i interview a top cat 1 who is vegan.

    Great stuff. Any thoughts on riding 60-90 minutes in a fasted or fasting state. There seems to be a lot of mixed information out there on that. Usually ride first thing in the morning. Thanks.

      bobwalsh57 i have been doing it for years, not problem for me. i do it because i save some time this way in the morning. i pushed a few times and i have been able to ride fasted for 3 hours straight. i guess I'm used to it now. start slowly though if you decide to try it

    very useful information, I just have a question though, do you eat any kind of bread?
    I ask it because I have heard some cyclist eating lots of bread to get carbs. But I am not sure about the quality of that source of carbohydrates.
    Thank you in advance, mate :)

      Travis Harper I have been doing a bowl of beans and rice after rides when I can. A cooler is a good idea though, I hate coming back to the car and having the fruit all soggy and gross from the heat.

I will make the trip every once n while but for about 7 years I was on the mat 6 days a week, now its like 6 days a year :( - here is a video of a fight at grapplers quest tournament that I ended up winning when I was a blue blet. I got to purple but then kinda fell off training.
