my god, this is like a gameboy for musicians.
That's what it feels like lol

This has nothing to do with Music.
@@randysnewbiebluesrockguita7782 YES! The old gatekeeper who plays *guitar* YOU MUST BE THE ONLY ONE (:
@Dale Macarena You dont need the op1 to use the pocket operators
The PO-33 KO is probably one of my favorite new pieces of gear in a long time. I made an entire album on it in about a week. It's just so easy to use and the workflow really inspires so much creativity.

My claim to fame is going to be that I said spaghetti on UA-cam and Andrew Huang wrote a beat with it. Sending this to Mom!
Ben Levin C O L L A B
I've never been so happy, Ben finally getting the recognition he deserved all along
Spaghetti
Ben Levin haha XD
For real though, thanks for all the hard work you put into inspiring people to make music.

does multicoloured shirt mean recording?
Red sauce means recording
I was watching the video and thinking about you. Glad to see you here. :)
Seriously. This collab needs to happen!!
"so lets record some spaghetti" remix when?
My friend bought one of these when we were hitchhiking around the europe, even though we sometimes struggled to make anything listenable, it always brought strangers closer to us :)
I just love the mental image of a handbag full of spaghetti.
What is your spaghetti policy here?

One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is to take my skills as a software developer and explore what I'm able to accomplish in limited contexts (i.e. a simple programming language in a game). I assume these devices would be equally challenging and fun.
YUP. Something way limited makes me way more creative than if I get endless possibilities. It's weird that way.
You'd love Game Builder Garage for the switch
I died when I heard the Handbag thing on the Pocket Operater.
OMG! You used my "A Handbag?" Clip. That just made my day!!!
My favorite part of Mondays is being able to watch an Andrew Huang video. Always learning more from you, Andrew, thank you. ❤️😛

“I wish there was something like like this when I was a kid” Actually, there was: the talk boy from home alone could do a lot of the sampling and warping that it does.
Yes yes yes ive been waiting for this so much. Thx thx thx
Whoa look at this comment........ITS BEEN HIGHLIGHTED BY THE ONE AND ONLY ANDREW HUANG. thx🎤🎧🎷🎸🎹🎺🎻🎼🎵🎶♩🎙
I was waiting on this too, definitely right up his alley
Lol I’m so confused it’s 1:00 in the morning and I started watching meme compilations and somehow got here I don’t understand anything that he’s doing but I love it
You should download a free copy of Cakewalk by Bandlab and start making music...
I love this channel for wired experimental stuff and reviews thanks Andrew!
Two years later, and a) my god, what a simpler time 2018 was, and b) so let's record an example still gets stuck in my head all the time.
Needs a part 2, not so long justice here bro , K.O deserves it's own episode!
I think it quantizes the FX automation at the same rate as the notes, so you basically get 16 points per pattern. This matches how it handles the rest of the pattern automation at least.
loving your editing
Dope!!! It's always cool when legitimate musicians get busy on the tech gear. It helps wanna-bees like me push it to the next level. Great Vid!!!!
This device is possibly the highest homage paid to Kraftwerk's Pocket Calculator.
I'm the operator with my pocket knockerator!
1:26 that was beautiful, and it wasn’t even intentional.
got some old daft punk vibes off that spaghetti beat
Austin Mangle same
Yeah man, that handbag sample sounds heaps like something from technologic
I was on the on the fence about buying one, now I’m buying one. You explained the device well!
Damn, man! Next you should make music with an abacus! 😂
‘To be born, or at any rate bred, in a handbag, whether it has handles or not, seems to me to display a contempt for the ordinary decencies of family life that reminds one of the worst excesses of the French Revolution.’
That ending...you got me man!😂😂
the hooh sample is the best sample i’ve heard all day
Good to see Ben Levin getting some recognition... sort of.
Jack Pepper only Adam Neely was recognized :'(
this looks like it has a steep-ish learning curve but it would also be SUPER fun to use
So let's record an example
I think the k.o will be good for me on the go or at school since I’m only 13 and have a spending limit on products, but this looks amazing
The “Lets record an example” section reminds me of Tomadachi Life.
You forgot to mention that you can connect them and sync them up!
"so let's record an example" type beat
ive seen so many videos ab these things but yours is by far the most useful ty
What?! No jokes about the sound of one hand clapping?
5:04 Half a clap
So, that's what it sounds like! Does this make me a zen master now?
Challenge idea for you, Rob, Roomie, and Dave. A music making challenge, but everyone has to pick pre sets for someone else and screw them over with what they pick
Everyone: Sees the awesome shirt:
Me: Forgets what the video is about.
I dunno... I feel like it's missing something... _You can use it as an alarm clock._ Buying them right now!
DUDE that dress shirt is phenomenal!! Where's it from?
Ogotu it’s not a dress shirt just for having a collar on it lol
Its a liquid crystal display. Electrically controlled photo polarization.
0:57 Don't tell me that's a hardbass donk
*my inner slav:* *jumps out of his screen and takes the thingy from him*
6:16 that sounds like the same vocal FX deadmau5 used in his song "maths"
The only good thing to a Monday.
Ikr?

8:31 - "A handbag?"
From the film adaption of "The Importance of Being Earnest".
6:26 sounds like when you're changing someone's voice in tomodachi life
The way that first sample got chopped reminds me so much of FLs Slicer on mobile.
Ngl, I kinda love it.
The most amazing thing about these is how expensive they are when you actually look at them.
Still much more cheaper than the OP1
....they aren't expensive
......at all....
@@VICKERY- relative to other equipment, no. I think people get annoyed when they see how much brick and mortar stores are marking the popular ones of them up, and when they get an impression that these are some kind of groovebox. They're practically toys, and that's fine.
With that in mind, relative to something like an app, e.g. nanoloop, they're quite expensive and honestly a bit of a pain to use with serious intent. Though i'd be happy to have one on a plane or something, sure.
@@VICKERY- also, I wonder if these aren't just largely identical hardware devices flashed with different firmware. If you did want to use these and only these to produce, it would be great if you could pay some amount to license firmware and then reflash them to be the ones you need. If you're interest in three or four, the price quickly adds up.
From musical tamaguchi to psychopath stalking you and harrasing you on the phone
I was literally eating spaghetti bolognese watching this 😂😂😂😂😂
woooow
i fell in love with the po-20
I trolled my teacher i Said it was a calculator😂😂
Simon Cassel legend 😂🔥
Lmao
lol! Damn smart! My boss would never know the difference!!! Why the headphones..? Im listening to the numbers as frequencies ^_^
Simon Cassel *was* not *were* I’m disappointed nobody corrected this idiot before
+Vetoed Impersonator Oh be quiet teacher. You're just mad that your eyesight is too bad to recognize a calculator!
I like how this thing is cleverly not super fancy "future" looking. it's mechanics speak for itself.
Your shirt is a a party for my eyes!
The whole time he was thinking “DANG I LOOK GOOD!”
Nice to see you finally use the magically fun gameboy calculator synths haha
Haha totally saves the handbag situation at the end there
Yeah , 4 polyphonic doesn't matter if you are actually trying to create a decent track on DAW. You'd be running the individual me channels onto their own tracks.
Worrying about that would.pnly be if you wanted to use this.as a toy.
“It darks up” I love him
Random compliment incoming: I like your choice of font. Also that ending made me lol
Fun fact: This thing literally changed my life and I was so addicted to it that it cured my reddit-addiction!
Let's just take a moment to appreciate how small those devices are. You needed SO MUCH MORE back in like 2000 to be able to do all that. Imagine how further can this technology advance in the future.
I dunno, it's fascinating.
Limitation is exactly why I love the PO system. I have the PO-24, Office, learning how to work within the limitations of this device has actually made me create some really fun beats.
I cannot wait to add a second operator. Really don't know what I want yet. Kind of leaning towards the KO.
For future reference, when something "lights" up on an LCD display you could accurately say that it is "polarizing." I'm sorry to be that guy, but barely useful facts build up in my head like gas in my intestines.
THE EDITING on this was more than superb; I haven't laughed at one of your videos quite like this before. Bravo!
"If you haven't already"
Mom's spaghetti
Handbag-etti?
Andrew, this sounds strange, but you should try to make music with Roblox sounds, not just the oof sound
But ROBLOX Studio is good.
Maxture I use it everyday!
I feel like that would be too niche for his audience...
wth are my old comments
So this is basically FL Studio but pocket? Neat!
Wasnt expecting much from that small sequencer, but im suprised how much you can do with it.wow.
Me: Oh nice maybe i should buy one of those there not gonna be over 30 dol-
*looks at price*
Me: *Nevermind*
These are insanely cheap for what they do. You would have to buy several other pieces of gear to do what this does all-in-one. If you’re looking for inexpensive, check out some free DAW’s.
Nothing worth your time that's actually good in the long run is cheap, always make investments.
That's very nice of you to review gear witout being paid. Congrats
i am the oporator with my pocket calculator
#kraftwerk
Tixo Moments oooooh yeahhh
Just to great. Bought 3 this year. Partially convinced by this video.
PO-33 KO by far is the fave. Like a budget DAW in my pocket. Perfect for any travels. :)
I am also working on syncing them with Koala Sampler
i have 2 challenges you could try
1. Imagine Dragons Thunder, using thunder sounds
2. Create a song using anime battle sounds, so things like swords clashing, or kamehameha from dbz.
I WOULD LOVE to see you attempt this!! please do Andrew!
it would be so cool right!!
@@_Requiiem you commented your own comment. ok.
@@_Requiiem it would be really cool though
@@Prod.BM7 someone replied to me, but I guess they deleted the comment so now I look insane
oh ok lol sorry
Hey Andrew I just bought the the PO KO! I hope it's amazing!
I have been wanting to get into Synths and making electronic music in general. I have had such a hard time figuring what to get, and getting confused in general with how equipment is explained.
This was a great tutorial, and I can't wait to get my device to play with and try to learn!
If you have any other recommendations please make more videos on them. I need to learn, and I want equipment you trust!
9:11 no seriously
OMG IM OBSESSED WITH POCKET OPERATORS AND HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO MAKE A VIDEO ON THESE! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

>using vocal synthesis to reproduce a vocal sample
That's a cool idea.
That was a great video! Those two look like a lot of fun :)
This is something that can pretty much do a daft punk
how much is this ? oh never mind....too much
It's dirt cheap at about 90 usd.
