I legit just sample all my one-shots individually, gives me a ton more control when it comes to deleting/replacing sounds without having to wipe out a whole kit, I love how there's just an infinite number of ways to go about using this little sampler 😂 epic vid
Works the other way round too, you can take a single sample from one of the drum slots and copy it to a melodic slot, get the chromatic scale for like hihats or snares or whatever. Useful if uou want to filter or tweak an individual drum hit from a kit. but I'm sure you know that already... peace..
Awesome workflow! Resampling onto your SP gives it a much more natural sound as well. There's nothing like the vibe of human performance. I've been doing the same thing
@@spvidz as a previous commenter said, if you record directly into a drum slot, it does chop the sample at the transients. It's only when copying from a melodic slot to a drum slot that it chops into equal lengths.
This is the only worthwhile way to use the drum slots on the PO-33 IMO if you're not using the factory samples. Although I will be honest, since the MK2 got the TR-Rec mode, my PO-33 has been gathering dust!
I do still use the drum slots to stack drums and make patterns but im with you…much easier doing that stuff on the mk2. I think I’ll mainly just use the po for sample treatment now
Late reply, but recording to slot 9-16 will run an algorithm to find the transients, whereas doing the copy hack splits the sample evenly into 16 chops without doing anything fancy.
This is the best trick indeed for the ko 33 some editing needed though per chop what sucks is they stopped selling the pocket operators on the teenage engineering website
8 I think. There isn't too much official information about it - www.reddit.com/r/pocketoperators/comments/bftz3m/question_what_is_the_po33_ko_bitdepth_and/
Slight correction - the PO-33 'Drum' pots actually chop 16 samples evenly - not be transient. I'm not sure where I picked that bit of info up 🤔
If u were to play the sample directly in to the drum slots, it will try to chop based on transients
What chords to use for plugins? and what are the names of them?

Always interesting to hear different approaches to the same piece of gear 🙌
This is most straightforward description of chopping/slicing with the PO-33 I've seen on YT.
🙌🙏

Absolutely solid; no frills, all skills. Thanks!
Love you spvidz! I hate to say that Ricky Tinez did it first. PO33 is really popping off again though I’ve noticed and I’m all here for it!
Dibiase showed me
@@spvidz Oh no shit haha I wonder who actually did it first then
Yeah no idea!

Yep! This is the KEY hack!
Got to try that out tonight ~!~ gracias
thanks mate now i know what happened to my sample :D
Yes! Thank you so much! Much love bro. 🙏🏼
🙌🙏
will be doing this later on my PO33!
Nice. Its a game changer!
I’m putting new batteries in mine as we speak! Great video SP!
Nice man! Such a fun little device
@@spvidz absolutely!
Nice video. I use this all the Time.
Yeah it’s my favourite bit when you send a sample to drum and it does it’s thing!
I think moving a melodic to a chopped slot slices on timing dividing into 16 even times, I have the po-133 which might be different
Yeah it does. Not sure why I thought it was transient…

@@Hakucho64 thanks for the clarification, was wondering about this
Just got one of these. It's unreal, thanks for sharing the info. Is there like some cheat sheet documentation for this thing maybe? 👍🏻
Mine came with one. There is info on their website

Love that tip! That mix of Po-33 and MK2 is dangerous!!
By the way how are you liking those V-Modas?
Not as comfy as my monitor headphones but the sound is actually really nice
What is the difference between this method and recording directly onto slot 9-16?

King!

Isn't the PO-33 just amazing?😁
Yes 🙌
woaw! 🔥🥶🔥

It slices in 16ths. Like the OP1 and OPZ. It doesn’t do transient detection. I don’t know why everyone says that.
Yeah you’re right. I’m not sure how I wrongly learned that but makes sense that it’s 16 even chops
Can u solo tracks when tracking out so u can mix later or nah
Righ o govnah! We gonna make chunes like they do in the states then, innit!
8 12 or 16 bit at 26khz?

@@spvidz ahh thx
Why is there a need to copy and paste? Why not just sample directly into 9?
Not chopping on transients. The PO just chops the sample in 16 identical slices.
@@freezerman5871 once I spread all the sample in the 16 pads, how I can play it at all?
Just programma a patter with 16 steps each playing a slice
Guess it’s time to dust off the old po-33
Never a bad time to do that ✨
You were a fool to let it sit long enough to collect dust to begin with
