That's a pretty nice Oklahoma Joe's Grill Tommy. Like how the top shelf was evenly cooked. Bottom wasn't bad. Great review Tommy and great advice. Have a awesome weekend Tommy and CHEERS. 👍
I have had the chargriller 980 for a couple of years and haven't had any major issues. I did the lss mode to move the fan flap away from the ash bin replaced the fan and thermostat . Sometimes, the temperatures get 20 degrees or more over than what it's set at, but I am currently cooking in the winter weather. The meat stick I use doesn't show that the ambient temperature is as high as the grill is displaying .
I always use an outside source to read the temps then I adjust accordingly. Chefstemp is having 25% off right now if interested seeing what I use. LMK!
Great video again, Tommy! I appreciate your attention to detail. Do we know if the grill’s ambient temp probe (mounted inside the cook chamber on the left side) provides the actual temp reading to the PID controller or does the controller apply an algorithmic calculation to that temp reading to estimate the temp in the center of the cook chamber, like with the Gravity 980? So are we seeing actual temps or estimated temps? Thanks!
@@thegalleryBBQ Ah! I see it now. I guess I missed it the first time. lol. Four degrees difference between the controller temp and your separate bbq thermometer isn’t bad. Glad that they’re measuring temp accurately on this one. Also, I vote either brisket or pork butt for your first cook.
Hey Tommy- More great content. My 560 is on its last leg. I've been waiting to see your input on this unit. It's definitely at the top of my list. You're 100% on the decals- seems like static cling film would work better. Thanks!!
Hey Tommy, I guess Mollie will be eating biscuits. Cook something with some fat in it so we can see how it handles the grease. Check out the new GE Profile Smart Indoor Pellet Smoker. What will they think of next? 😃
Great Video! but At 3:18 You say do not set temp but the fan will not kick on when you just simply turn the unit on. Temp has to be set to kick the fan on. If the fan symbol is not on then the fan is not on. Just for anybody wondering I spent a solid 20 minutes checking the fan then metering it. What did you say Los Angeles
Just got mine yesterday and it's awesome. HOWEVER, learned straight from OKJ that you can't completely choke out the fire so whatever charcoal you load, you use. Kind of a bummer considering i have the masterbuilt 1050 and it doesn't force me to measure OR burn an entire 16lbs bag of charcoal for one cook.
Nice grill Tommy I love how those biscuits turned out on the top shelf and you always do an amazing job at explaining everything that’s what I love the most cheers👍🔥🍺
Thanks for the video. I’m very interested in this gravity fed model. I would especially like to see how it does on a low & slow cook to learn how it compares to a pellet grill on smoke flavor in particular.
Top rack cooking for sure, but will Joe make a bigger version? Cheers Tommy, and chicken lollipops but a crazy new twisted version. Think candy apples at the fair, go crazy and have fun.
Dont you ruin your cook but i would like see the hopper full with lump and wood chunks. Want see if theres any bridging in that angled hopper. Or does oklahoma joe recommend briquettes and wood inside the ash bin? Either way looking forward to your cooks on this pit. Glad to see more companies with gravity feed. It only makes them get better 👍
I agree, these darn stickers are a PITA to remove - why can't they find another way of doing this that is easier to remove. Cook a big fat juicy burger!
Nice looking pit Tommy. I heard you say a couple times to add 4 pounds of fuel, is that the hopper capacity or will it hold more than that ? Cheers bro, see ya soon !
Do you want to know how to Assemble your Oklahoma Joe Tahoma 900- ua-cam.com/video/IvjEHaE1oE8/v-deo.html

Look at you with the burn pot fire effects! Very cool to see that top rack with even temps. Not too bad on the bottom either!
You know............

It’s actually in the video. Watch again. 😂😂😂😂

@@coreym3675 did the first cook today. Out Wednesday.

Haha....
Can wood chunks be added to the charcoal bin and if so does it impact the flow of the gravity feature?
As far as I know you can although i'm only guessing. Ill try and get that info from Oklahoma Joe. (I know you can down in the ash bin.)
Very helpful.
Heavily leaning towards a purchase. Gotta figure out how to move it as I cannot leave it in one place.

Id wait on my review video so you can get the pro and cons.... Figure about a week or two.

Thanks bud. This is just the start up procedure as per the manual. Check out Saturdays video as I did a Bison Rib Roast on the 900 that was killer.
Thanks, Tommy. Can you run lump in it?
Id think so. Awesome pit.

Agreed.

Definitely interested in how long a hopperful of fuel will last, can it handle a 225 big full packer brisket cook without refueling?
OKJ says 13 hours.
Awesome stuff Tommy ! I enjoy your brisket videos, so maybe first cook? This looks like a nice unit. Have a fantastic weekend, cheers brother 🍻
Thanks-

First cook is going to be ribs and the smoke flavor was spot on! These gravity feds will out smoke any pellet grill IMHO!
The rib video is out tomorrow.
Id like to see you make some ribs on that unit. also curious about ash management and wanna see how much coal it uses compared to masterbuilt
Ribs have been cooked and the video is out tomorrow!
I'm excited to see you cook on this, no matter what you decide to make first👍😊
Me too!!
Porkbutt for pulled pork is my first cook normally. I have a Chargriller auto kamato and this seems similar to their products. Good luck.
Thanks for the info! I think it's going to be ribs, and its happening today;).... Stay tuned.
Sweet looking , a brisket would do just fine on the top grate
Cheers.
Top rack cooking for sure, but will Joe make a bigger version? Cheers Tommy, and chicken lollipops but a crazy new twisted version. Think candy apples at the fair, go crazy and have fun.
13 hours on one load of charcoal. I think this ones big enough! Maybe a smaller one.
So far so good…..now a cook!
Oh yes!
Party ribs and chicken wings for the Super Bowl! 🤤
Cooking on it today. Monday!
Looks good! I would like to see you do pork belly like a brisket. I think that would be a good test.
Ive got a cook coming soon. I am leaning ribs. Stay tuned.
You northerners crack me up. There are 2 r's in the word drawer. My wife is from new hamshire so... nice video
lol.... Thanks bud. Cheers
Brisket... would love to see a brisket cook on this thing.
First up Ribs!! Video out tomorrow!
NYCE ... good consistency on that top rack
Agreed.
Looks promising Tommy

Cook a big fat juicy burger!
Some companies have started using magnets. First cook, Ribs- out tomorrow!
That top rack looks awfully long. Feels a like a new wrist line will develop soon. Very informative video.
Thanks for watching!
Nice! I gotta get one, Tommy! Are you an affiliate?
They did send me this. Cheers
Brisket and how well it can sear a steak. Would be cool to see the steak reverse seared on the same grill.
All coming soon.
Nice looking pit Tommy. I heard you say a couple times to add 4 pounds of fuel, is that the hopper capacity or will it hold more than that ? Cheers bro, see ya soon !
That's just for the burn off... You've got about the same size as the masterbuilt AKA around 15 hours burn time.
How do those smoked biscuits taste? Pork belly like a brisket...👀 🥩🥩
The taste is good although I can't eat to many😂😂😂😂
4lbs of charcoal seems like a deal breaker when it comes to long cooks. I understand you can always add more but why didn’t they make it larger?
4 LB is all that's needed for the burn off. On a full cook you can load it up for 15 hour burn time(we will test that on a brisket cook)
Butta dem
Biscuits
Hot damn....
If this is a presentation/instructional video... why do you end every damn sentence with a questioning tone? It was frustrating to listen to honestly.
I got no problem with you turning off the show if your not digging it!!
Brisket
It'll happen.
