yes, the instructions say to ligh it with briquettes then add lump or wood. I did lump with the salmon but it burned faster than I expected, and hotter. I like to mix wood chuncks in with charcoal briquettes.
@@pioneersmokehouseschannel I have a Masterbuilt Gravity Series 800. Hate using Briquettes! They don’t burn like lump and clog the grate to the Ash Pan. Then impossible to lite and keep getting Error messages. Thanks for the information
@@user-sl9sz2bm7e I have the 800 and don't have never had it clog or error in 2 years. I have been using a mix of splits and briquettes for a while now. I did do the Klotes firebox mod recently which I really think it needed. Love the pit and the flavor.
