Fun fact: I think I may have discovered the cowboy franchise that inspired Woody's Roundup: Roy Rogers! Prospector seems to be modeled on Gabby Hayes, one of the cast members, and Roy's cowgirl wife Dale Evans may have been inspiration for Jessie. Bullseye's equivalent is Trigger, "The Smartest Horse in The Movies". If anyone's curious, some of the movies and TV stuff from it are actually here on UA-cam!

From what I've heard most of Woody's reactions to the merchandise was Tom Hanks legitimate reactions to the props.

As a kid I remember watching this on VHS and pausing this scene and writing these toys down every year on my Christmas list

Wouldn't doing that cause a whole lot of fuzzy lines that you can't see anything through? That's what our VCR did.

I can see where you’re coming from, but I personally think that they were made as a visual/tactile reference for Tom Hanks, but the crew didn’t tell him so Tom Hanks’ voice lines for Woody during this scene would be authentic. I’m guessing they revealed the box of props to him, but only let him open it and see them during the recording.
I *_REALLY_* hope they make some of this stuff for real when the 20th anniversary of Toy Story 2 rolls around.

I'm a musician who also likes to collect vinyl LP's, so I care about that more than cereal. Owning an actual "Woody's Roundup" LP would be pretty sick. lol.

Now that toy story 4 came out we need Pixar to make Woody's roundup as a real tv series. One that won't be canceled by a space ranger show. Buzz got his own series years ago, why not Woody

Oh my god, I'd die for a Jessie collector's plate, because she's my favorite character from Toy Story 2⃣. In fact, I'll tell you that I silently went nuts over it when the sequel of this movie was released in theaters everywhere 25 years ago.
The theme was catchy too. If Pixar decides to make a real Woody’s Round Up tv show(not a movie like with what they are doing if Lightyear) I am all for it. But it must be a tv show and in color.

Defiantly a reflect on all the old fashioned toys and merch the 50s Hanna Barbera cartoons spawned.

Me too. I made some of the Woody's Roundup merchandise out of cardboard, but presently, I got tired of it laying around my room and put all of it in my recycling bin.

January 12th 1957? But the text says "Sputnik - First Photos Revealed". Sputnik was not launched until October 4th 1957 and the Soviets were extremely secretive when it came to their space programs. Usually the first anyone heard of their space missions was after they launched and were considered "successful". Failed missions were typically denied and covered up behind the iron curtain.
It's just an easter egg. Plus, Toy Story is in a different universe were Sputnik may have been launched earlier.
Then Woody's Roundup is Cancelled becuase of Sputnik, or shall i say...

Fun fact: woodys round Up was an actual show but Disney bought the rights to have that woody, they tried to make their own cowboy doll but they wanted the Woodys round up woody, and they tried to ask but it was declined the only way was to buy it, now the real show was forgotten and impossible to see the real show
