Beautiful truck!!! I own a 1986 F250 diesel with 55,000 original miles. Same situation as yours mine is in mint condition. You just don’t see trucks that have been around for 37 years look like that still. I bought mine off of my dad who was the second owner and he had it for 7 years. The original owner had it in storage most of its life. Thanks for sharing!
@@tonyscarcare5657 The backstory to that is that he had been kind to me many times over a long friendship. I had purchased the ‘87 from another friend of mine, a WWII veteran, in 1993. And by the way, thank you for your video on replacing the cable assembly on the left rear half door on my 2002. Very nice!

You're welcome and thank you! Yes I agree......to me the 80-86 Ford trucks are the best ones ever made. 87-91 got odd looking and after that they all rusted something terrible.
@@tonyscarcare5657 I like the 80-86 F series trucks. The redesign was a worthy one but I wouldn't say they were the best ones from Ford though. Ford began experimenting with different things at the time that didn't work out too well. The lightened "Swiss cheeze" frames on the F100 and F150 were not the strongest by far, albeit lighter in weight. And the introduction of the 3.8 Essex V6 with hopes to replace the 300 inline 6 was not a popular move. The 80-86 trucks certainly had impressive features and optional equipment making them very attractive and comfortable but sadly, many of these are no longer on the road now. I still see quite a few of the 73-79 models still on the road though and those years are now considered classics and highly sought after. The Camper Specials in the Ranger XLT trim are real beauties.

Nice old truck. I love the bull nose era Fords. My Aunt had an 83/84 model in a two tone metallic brown/bronze color that I used to drive when I was 15 and 16 years old. It was surprising how well the 302/5.0 motors pulled those full sized trucks around even when they had the older 3 speed trans and highway gears. During that same era I drove a few square body Chevys which I also liked. But nothing was better than the bull nose and brick nose fords. They just looked and drove great!
Tony, your truck is beautiful! I have seen your posts in the bullnose group on FB as well. I have a 1980 regular cab 2WD Lariat that I’m restoring this winter. That's got to be the nicest Ford trucks from this era! Well taken care of and well loved. I agree, after 1986 the full sized Fords lost a degree of appeal. Personally, Ford stopped making "real" after 1979 and moved towards cheap plastic appointments. Yes they could be nicely equipped and plush but they were not the same hard wearing trucks they once were.

Hello Mr. Tony - my husband and I love your videos. We recently purchased a 1986 bullnose and need to replace the dash lights and were wondering if we find a NOS tachometer if that if plug and play? Is there a video where you show how to do either of these. Also my husband is looking for an auto meter and his buddy’s recommended Fluke brand. Would that be good one. Thanks and keep up the great outstanding videos!
Thank you again so much for watching! The tachometer is not exactly plug and play but really quite simple to add. I'm hoping to do a video on that really soon, as the weather is really getting nice. The cluster is easy to get out. I would definitely stick with the factory tachometer.
Actually, the trucks became EFI for all 5.0 engines in mid-1985, and most of all the part numbers are 1985 E5TZ numbers. It was only the 5.0. All other engines were still carbureted.
Those trucks are really going up in value, they’re drying up and there’s not as many, less than 1% in that condition, I would guess, A person that has a truck in that condition with the luxury package can pretty much name their price, We’re both 55 years old would not surprise me in our lifetime with that truck exceeds $75k

In 1986 I was looking for a new truck and I drove everything I drove a new Chevy and a new Dodge and a new Ford all single cab long beds, and the Ford was so far superior and ahead of the Dodge and the Chevy it wasn't funny but I couldn't part with $13000 so I bought a used 82' Ford F150 which was the best vehicle I've ever owned... The Dodge was especially bad, it was loaded to the max but the brakes and steering and power were mediocre at best...
You're preaching to the choir buddy! I too have driven them all and there's no comparison. The Chevy power windows would barely go up and down when they were new off the lot.....plus you had to slam the doors to get them shut.
@@tonyscarcare5657 no you do not 😂😂. The doors shut exellent when the striker bushings are still intact. The 80-86 fords were cheaply built. Plastic dashes/ plastic inner fenders/cable tailgate cables Instead of steel etc. I have a 86 F150 but it’s a 300I6 4 speed. It’s a good truck but the quality isn’t there like the other trucks are. @@SteveTheFordGuy985 thank you. I've actually owned it longer than he did now. I bought it in 2002.
Forgot to mention it also was identical in color interior and exterior but it didn't have that big wide molding going back the side but it did have the chrome wheel well molding
Hard to beat a nicely kept old truck - real attention getters at shows! Once they hit 20-25 years in age they really start taking off in value! Square-body Chevrolet’s are off the charts right now……..😮
Yeah, I've turned down some really good offers for it. Thank you!
Beautiful truck Tony. I can’t believe that dash doesn’t have a crack.
Thank you! Keeping them inside is the key to Keeping them new.
@@tonyscarcare5657 from what I've heard, the problem, is the plastic industry/technology hadn't evolved very far. They didn't know how to make high quality plastic that would resist sun and last.
@raizt1596 Honestly, the newer trucks are just as bad. Look at the 90s and 2000s Dodge dashes. They're terrible.
@@tonyscarcare5657 is that so? I was told they'd been incorporating UV resistant materials into the plastic by 2000.
@raizt1596 Oh yes, they crumbled!
IMHO it's even more beautiful than the new F150's. I'll take the wing vent windows any day over what we have now.
Me too! Thank you very much. The 86 is my all-time favorite.
Beautiful truck. Been looking for a truck this style several years. Sadly they rusted behind the doors and most are junk now.
Stay tuned for my grey truck video.
My son has a 1985 that looks the same except it has a short bed and the 460 ho engine in it.
Awesome!
Don't know if you know this or not but that under the hood light is also a work light it pulls up out of that and it will go all the way to the very back of the truck
Oh I know and it can stay right in it's place!
Ooh, you wouldn't want to hurt that thing. Whoopi do@@tonyscarcare5657
Amazing truck. Hoping to make mine look as good!
Thank you very much!
Very nice truck. Looking forward to the LTD video.
Thank you! I'm gonna talk about the LTD but it may be disappointing to some.
I might have painted your truck. I was a painter at KCAP in 1986 before they made the switch to automation.
That's awesome!
My truck!!!
Nice truck! I'm surprised its got EFI. Thought they were still carburated back in 86
Actually, the trucks became EFI for all 5.0 engines in mid-1985, and most of all the part numbers are 1985 E5TZ numbers. It was only the 5.0. All other engines were still carbureted.
@tonyscarcare5657 in the 1987 model year, the 300 straight 6 became fuel-injected. The 351W and 460 V8s followed suit in the 1988 model year.
@bobbyheffley4955 thank you. I knew it all happened fairly quickly after the 86 5.0.
Those trucks are really going up in value, they’re drying up and there’s not as many, less than 1% in that condition, I would guess, A person that has a truck in that condition with the luxury package can pretty much name their price, We’re both 55 years old would not surprise me in our lifetime with that truck exceeds $75k
They are bringing crazy prices at those big auction companies. Thanks, Dave!
Seeing how many views these videos got, I would love to see some.videos of you working on them. Mine needs several maintenance items and I was never taught how to do them, so I rely on the internet for these types of things.
I hope to do some. However those trucks don't really need anything right now.
I like that “ your upper middle class garage”😄
1980s upper middle class! 😂
Beautiful truck!!!! Do you happen to know what the trim part name for the plastic corner piece where the seat belt comes out is called??
Thank you! I believe you're talking about the cab "corner interior trim".
beautiful truck, do you sell any of your NOS items, thanks for your time.
Thank you! No, I'm sorry, I do not sell any NOS items.
Tony, Any chance you have the part number on the Ford chime module. I agree
the buzzer is annoying.
I can look, but I'm out of town. You'll have to remind me.
Hey Tony if you're recognize my name on here or if you even look back this far I'm a new subscriber from the unfortunate accident your mom and dad had and I watched this video and we did your mom and dad's car and your car
Thank you very much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it!
Hey you're very welcome Love all your vehicles and your channel too bad I did not find it earlier
You can go back and watch all of them.
I'm doing that very thing
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice Truck. Still like the gray one more though.
Thanks! Me, too.
Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you!
Nice Truck! Just think the 79 Fords and 86 Fords are sharp!
They are definitely my two favorites! Thank you!
In 1986 I was looking for a new truck and I drove everything
I drove a new Chevy and a new Dodge and a new Ford all single cab long beds, and the Ford was so far superior and ahead of the Dodge and the Chevy it wasn't funny but I couldn't part with $13000 so I bought a used 82' Ford F150 which was the best vehicle I've ever owned...
The adjustability of the GM and dodge control arm suspension is so far superior/removable bedsides/etc etc. the ford twin I beam trucks are constantly eating tires because the alignment changes at every point of articulation in the suspension
@@brandonbell3089 👍 okay!
Beautiful truck.
Thank you very much!
That's a cool truck i like it 😊😊
Thank you!
That interior color is called Canyon red and exterior was raven black
Yep I have the dealer brochure.
@@tonyscarcare5657 yeah okay
I need that Lincoln!
Everyone needs a Lincoln! I have a video on it as well.
Hello Tony, I have a 82 F150 Short Bed 4x4 Lariat that I am wanting to restore/modify. Please let me know if you are open to sharing resources for parts and services. I look forward to viewing and learning from your repair videos. I would welcome and appreciate any consideration to discuss what to do and not to do with my Bullnose project. thank you
Honestly the original parts have dried up. You can keep an eye on ebay and then look up LMC truck parts and Dennis Carpenter Ford truck parts. Thank you for watching!
Would your 86 tailgate panel be available?
@@shan442us oh no. Sorry.
gorgeous truck
Thank you!
Great video. I just bought one. What size lift is on that? Thanks in advanced
Do you mean the grey truck? It's a 6" lift with 33 10 50s. Thank you, and thank you for watching!
Dang man you should bring it back to the Ford nationals some year I guarantee it would win again
I'd like to but it's a minimum of 12 hours for me out there.
This is a beautiful ride! I just bought an 86 F-150 Lariat myself, not nearly as nice as this lol. It's sat for about 7 years but also only has around 42k original miles. Same interior as that with all the bells and whistles, but i have a question. This truck i just got (it's the 5.0 EFI with the AOD transmission, it will start and run perfectly fine but as soon as you try and put it into any gear it stalls. If you would happen to know it would be much appreciated, again beautiful rig!
My first thought is to clean the throttle body.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Thank you, I'll definitely do that
@@That_5.4Lariat you're welcome. Let me know.
@@tonyscarcare5657Well after looking further into it, I’ve found two vacuum leaks, it didn’t come with a radiator cap so I’ve picked one up for it. Hopefully it’s just gonna be those vacuum lines.
Loss of vacuum can definitely cause running issues, especially on these EFI trucks.
Where did you buy this original ford tac and speedometer from? And how long ago did you buy them?
Ebay 20 years ago.
Does the engine temp gauge not work? It should be on cold when you're first starting it right? Mine has the opposite problem where it's stuck on "C" all the time and won't heat up.
It works fine. It had already been ran and was a little warm.
Do you know anything about the oil gauge. I noticed your gauge ran in the middle. Mine always runs low on the gauge. Even after I have a oil change. Not sure why. Mine was a 86 f250 351 HO
They all run low after they get around 100k miles on them. How many miles do you have?
What part of Illinois you live in? Beautiful truck.
Vandalia. Thank you!
Hey Tony. hope all is well.. I just purchases a 1986 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat 4x4 302 v8 Reg cab short bed. I came across a question that was ask to me. "how can you prove its a XLT Lariat".. and i explained all the options the XLT Lariat had (which my truck has). Is there a way to match the VIN to the Trim level? Thank you for your time. -Freddy.
If it's a Lariat, It should have the Lariat emblems on the cab corners and XLT on the front fenders. It should also have the plush seat.
@@tonyscarcare5657 yeah I have all that. But nothing that would indicate on the vin?
If it has all of that, it's a Lariat. Nothing in the vin that I know of.
Hello from France !
I own a 1985 f150 XLT Lariat too.
How did you do to replace the stupid buzzer ?
Thank you! You can simply unplug it and plug one in from a Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis from the 80s.
Thank you .
Do you have some partnumbers ?
Easiest way to search something here …
No, I'm sorry, I don't. You probably need to find one in a junkyard. Maybe I'll try to do a video on it this summer.
Beautiful
Thank you very much!
Very nice truck
Thank you very much!
I have a 1995 Ford F-150 the cluster is not working well seeing what you have where did you find the cluster can you message me and let me know please thank you
I'm sorry I don't have anything for a 95.
What’s the size tire you have on the truck?
They are 275 R 15. Thanks!
Sir I have a right side door panel FOR A 95 ford f150 gray can use it or know one who dose it is for sale
I don't need one that color, but there's always someone looking for door panels on the Facebook Ford truck groups.
I have a 84 I bought the same wood grain and I can’t figure out what it is called
I believe the 85-86 woodgrain was called burl walnut.
COOL TRUCK!! BAD ASS !!!! I HATE THOSE DAMN KEY IN IGNITION CHIME!!!
I change them from the buzzer to the chime. It is nice to know if you leave your lights on. Thank you for watching!
@@tonyscarcare5657 THAT'S TRUE...UR WELCOME!!
I can tell by looking at some of the components under the hood that your garage is very damp
That was from the previous owner. It was like that when I bought it over 20 years ago.
His truck payment must have only been about 70 bucks a month
Probably something like that. Maybe around $100.
Awesome
Thank you very much!
Does the ac work
Yes it does. It does need an O-ring though.
@tonyscarcare5657 does it still have R12, or has it been converted to R134a?
It's been converted. Years ago.
I had a black 1986 ford bronco
I bet you wish you'd kept it!
Man forget all the new stuff today, give me a low mileage Crown Vic 84-91 and a F-150 80-96.
I agree with you!
That's kool truck it really nice.. I have a couple of Ford trucks if you like check out my videos..
Sure thing! Thank you!
What is the name of your channel?
AOD transmission
Yes it is.
The tailgate is wrong
How is the tailgate wrong? I have the dealer brochure from 1986 that clearly shows it. I've probably had more 1986 F150s than any other single person. That was the XLT Lariat only panel used for 1985 & 1986 only. I have three of them NOS in the box. I've had to prove so many people wrong about this. I don't understand where you get your information from. Now I'm gonna have to do a video on the 85-85 Ford tailgate and dealer brochure. Stay tuned!
What size are those tires ?
235 70 R 15
