You’ll never find a 1989 Cadillac in that kind of condition, , That rides that well, that is still reliable, and that you can easily put 400,000 miles on Like you can on a town car, you basically have the luxury style of a Rolls-Royce, and the mechanical durability /Reliability of a crown Victoria highway patrol car, all the problems that Cadillac had in the 1980s (especially the 4.1 motor) sent alot of the luxury buyers to Lincoln, A real treat to get a tour and take a video test drive,
I agree with you 100%. Thank you very much for watching, and please stay tuned. My parents had a 1985 Signature Series, and it had 348k miles when they sold it still running. And that was still the throttle body injection!

Miles, about the back long reflector, a bodyshop said to change it, it's quite a job, apparently the corner caps have to come off and some other pieces
Beauty, I have an 88 which I am working on . One thing I did was upgrade my dash vents, by swapping in substitutes from a Mercury Grand Marquis, which were wood-toned on the perimeters and that completed the wood effect of the overall dash. My wheels are as yours except very badly corroded.... do you have a set available yet? I replaced the electric motor on the rear driver-side door, and a year later it is not working, so that will be my next project.
Great videos Tony, thank you! One of my all-time favorite cars and I’m going to be in the market for an 89 Signature or Cartier with the options yours has… beautiful cars.
My dad bought new an 88 ltd crown Vic country squire wagon and it’s amazing how similar these cars are. The sticker on the wagon was like 25k in 88. So a little cheaper. I used that wagon to go to college in 89 at NYU and then to move a few times in the mid 90s. Dad wrecked it on an icy 202 outside Philly in like 96. He went from a crown Vic wagon to the last year first gen q45. Which was awesome.
Yeah, they were all great cars. I'm looking all the time for a late 70s Country Squire. I really want light green but would settle for dark green, brown, or yellow.
@@tonyscarcare5657 I too like those 70's Country Squires, esp with that lengthy tail-light set-up. Do have a '89 Mercury Colony Park LS , in Desert sand , 302, panther body, needing a home.. Maroon sumptuous velvet interior, all options except the 3rd seat set-up. I am the 2nd Owner, and need garage space.... don't we all !. It does deserve an appreciative home.

Love what you said about you took your own wheels off went to the shop to have my tires rotated small dent on the driver side of my 98 Mercedes Benz S-Class SOB,S
Wow I cannot believe how immaculate of condition this vehicle is that's a 33-year-old vehicle and it's still beautiful way better looking than any of these other newer vehicles they got going on
Thanks.....the alarm flashes all maker lights and headlights. I use a product called "Super Shine II" that's a shine and protectent and is made by a fairly local company.
Beautiful car, looks just like my 89’ except mine has the blue and white leather interior color combo. Question for you sir, I am trying to get my turbine wheels refinished, but the wheel shop cannot proceed because of the studs for the center cap. Do you have a ford part number for those studs? I need to have a machine shop remove the studs and I am afraid they will get damaged in the process. Need to have he center caps on the turbines or it will all be a waste!
I'm sorry, but I do not have a part number for those. I'm also not sure what's involved in restoring those wheels. I think I'd probably try to find another set in good condition. Thank you very much for watching and the compliment! I appreciate it.
Thank you very much! I just took it to an exhaust shop and told them to make it look stock and keep it quiet. It makes a very slightly different sound than originally, but it's a nice sound. Thank you very much for watching! Please check out some of my other videos. And please be sure to like and subscribe!
Great car, Tony. I have one just like it. Built like tanks. I have one question. In one of your videos, you said that the door lock actuator on 80's Broncos was compatible with the Town Car. I believe you said that the rods needed to be swapped out. I found an 89 Bronco actuator online. Would this one work do you know? Due to the fact that the Broncos only have front doors, do the actuators work all around, on all the Town Car doors (front and back)? Thanks again. Randy
I like your Lincoln , they are the best. Put white wall whitener on it , or white magic marker pin , maybe might solve your problem. Also try Comet cleaser , just a little on that stain. Kevin Phoenix , Illinois
Beautiful car Tony. I own an "89 Signatue Series myself and love it more each passing day. I am the 2nd owner, Adobe Yellow color, in excelent condition. I prefer it to the "97 Cartier I owned. Question: how do the TC's compare to the 1960 Continentals in your opinion? I believe the 80s TC's were the best for a number of reasons, but would like your opinion.
The 60s were awesome but problematic in so many ways. I'm with you. I believe the 86-89 Town Car, Crown Victoria, and Grand Marquis were the best cars ever built.
What are your thoughts on the fit & finish? The purists say the TCs lack the substantial feeling of metal, chrome & wood interiors of the iconic 60s or 70s Continentals. My view is the TC imitation woodgrain veneer is pressed aluminum, which is a metal, so there is not alot of plastic. The door panels and dash are vynil and substantial material (though the elbow rests can crack...but I believe the 60s continentals could do this as well). The TC wood grain doesn't rot or fade over time as can occur with 60's Continentals or peel off like the 70s vehicles. I am more interested in your opinion, but I think the 1980s TC interiors are at least as good as anything mass produced in the 60s or 70s by Lincoln or Cadillac.@arcare5657
You are a guru of land yachts!! Just bought an 89 signature. Flying in to pick her up to drive back 16 hours. Can you please suggest things I should check before hitting the road? It's not a jalopy, she's a 2 owner, babied vehicle but I'm sure you can tell me what the usual suspects can be. Thanks in advance and gorgeous car. Hey, if you still have a set of those wheels I'm a buyer
Of course check all the fluids but by all means make sure the shift cable for the transmission is secure at the throttle body and if it's still a plastic bushings, replace it with the metal or brass replacement asap. Sorry but the wheels aren't for sale.
Hi Tony, I am looking at this 1 year later do you still look at the comments? Or you just look at new comments. I like your Lincoln it is in a very nice nick.👍
Besides several GRAND MARQUIS, RWD FLEETWOODS and others, have been fortunate enough to have had 78 Town Coupe, 89 Signature and currently have beautiful low mileage 2007 Signature Limited. Love the formal look of 89. Only wish plush velvet interior was more available. Believe 89 Town Car (entry level) like base GRAND Marquis had cloth. 🤔. My 89 could get 24 MPG on highway! Will not let my 2007 get away! Best Currently available. A recent article said these last Town Cars were the AMERICAN ROLLS-ROYCE! So sad to see what is now considered a luxury vehicle 😢 🤮.
Beautiful car! Question… Those master window control units… @ 6:49 If you haven’t already, would you consider selling them or give me some info as to where I can find just that one piece? Looked on eBay and all I can find is a whole new set of door controls for all four doors or the little plastic piece that the actual buttons sit on top of. Also, my 86’s door locks don’t actuate. They work, they’re just super stiff. Can’t lock them with the key or with the electronic lock. Any ideas on how to free them up?
I'm sorry. None of that stuff is for sale. Are you needing switches or the woodgrain panel? Also I have a video on my channel explaining how to remove and replace the doorlock actuators. Thank you!
@@tonyscarcare5657 Damn! I was afraid of that. I need the switches. The faceplate on mine is fine. I just need the new switches because supposedly, when that switch board goes out, none of the windows or anything will work. I don’t know if that’s true but I do know that the light switches and lighters and such in the rest of the door switches work just fine except for the window switch. Nothing on the drivers side works except for the mirror adjustment knob.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Ah. So ordering a new pigtail/switch board wouldn’t fix the issue then huh? Well, does that mean that I’ve lost power to all the windows? Cause none of the windows will roll down on any switch panel.
Im surprised that you didnt install the Ford/JBL sound system in to it. That system even comes with a dedicated CD player in its own housing directly underneath the tuner.
If you watched this video, you should see that this car did, in fact, come with the $525 JBL Audio system as stated on the original window sticker. The CD player was a stand-alone option. I do have one, but they were junk from day one.
Had a chance to get an 89 Signature Series in 2015. Eccentric old guy who had it tried telling me the entire neighborhood and everyone from the main road driving by wanted it. It was a "Make Offer" which always means you never offer enough. Only a 2000 car at best. He said some guy offered 3000. I called him the next week offering 3 and he said he had to have 5000 becauss thats what online sales were. Sure for a condition as great as this one but not the one he had.
Oh wow,i'm really impresed with your car,it's just amazing, and i really love hoe You describe things on your videos, that alarm system i didnt know how it works, need to check if it works on My dads Town car,and do You know the wiring For the auto dimming mirror? Because i bought a mirror without the plug and i wanna make it work
Hey Tony I found a 1989 Lincoln town car 15000 orgranial miles dark blue on specialty motor cars it was just posted I mean a beautiful car maybe for your mom and dad how are they doing
Thanks, but look through the comments and see how many people have said that. I appreciate it but we aren't interested in it. I'm gonna have to do a video on that blue car video.
Do you have any thoughts on the fit & finish (trim) of the 80’s TCs? For example, critics point out that the 1980s TC’s lack the substantial feel of the real metal and wood of the 60’s Continentals. I am sure you heard many purists say the interior is full of too much plastic & flimsy material; however, the imitation wood veneer of the 80's TC is pressed onto aluminum (which is a metal) and the 1980's dashboard and door panels are more vinyl than plastic. The real wood in my Premium SUV is cracking, but my 1989 TC wood veneer still looks like it just came of the assembly line. The 1985-89 TC is a marvel of engineering (exterior/interior/mechanically) especially when you consider the Gov’t Regulations & cost constraints the Auto Industry was facing in the 80s. I say with upmost respect that I would have a hard time appreciating a ’67 Continental interior after truly experiencing an ’89 TC. The iconic Continentals of the ‘60’s are deservedly so, however, the 1980’s TC interior is a subject that doesn’t seem to get the attention it deserves. Looking forward to hearing your views. Reply
I did ride all the way home from Clearwater, FL. in a 67 Continental convertible, and they were really unbelievable cars for sure. I have to say that I've never driven or ridden in any car that I feel more comfortable in as the late 80s Town Cars. You do have to train yourself to keep your arms off of the armrests so they don't crack, but it's a trade-off that I'm happy to deal with. I also have never had a complaint about the fit and finish inside or outside of any Ford product. Especially compared to GM and Chrysler. Once again, thank you very much for watching and commenting!

I did find the Light Jade Green 77 Country Squire I've been searching for and bought it. You can see it in my other videos. Thanks for letting me know, though.
@@tonyscarcare5657 look forward to seeing your Jade Green Country Squire....they are certainly head-turners and put the newish foreign-badged models to shame.. Kids love them as they see them in some great comedic movies, of days past.
I have a lot of videos already out there on the Country Squire. If you got to my channel and look down the video list, you are sure to see all of them.
Love what you said about you took your own wheels off went to the shop to have my tires rotated small dent on the driver side of my 98 Mercedes Benz S-Class SOB,S
Yep, that's why. I was so busy that day and didn't have time to be in there at all but I stayed and removed all that, and put it all back on myself.
Cool car!
Beautiful car. That and next to a mid 80s cutlass smoothest ride still to this day.
So true......so true!
WHAT A BEAUTY!!🤍
Wow I cannot believe how immaculate of condition this vehicle is that's a 33-year-old vehicle and it's still beautiful way better looking than any of these other newer vehicles they got going on
Thank you!
I liked the coach lamps (pillar light) flashes with the alarm and what do you use for protection on your vinyl to ?
Beautiful car. Watched this 3 times - you did a great job - what exhaust did you put on the car ?
Thank you very much! I just took it to an exhaust shop and told them to make it look stock and keep it quiet. It makes a very slightly different sound than originally, but it's a nice sound. Thank you very much for watching! Please check out some of my other videos. And please be sure to like and subscribe!
Used to have a Crown Victoria LX of the same year. But nothing beats Panther luxury than the Town Car.
I agree!
Randy
Yes they're all the same and all you have to do is swap out the rod like I show in the video. Thanks!
@@tonyscarcare5657 Great. I appreciate it. Keep the Town Car repair videos coming. Thanks again

Absolutely beautiful
Thank you!
Beautiful. How does the 5.0 compare to the Marquis with the 400?
Thank you! As far as power, they are probably equal. As far as fuel mileage, the Town Car smokes the Marquis.
Beautiful car and great color combination.
Thank you very much!
Beautiful car. Reminds me of my dads car. Always wanted to own one. Please let me know if you ever want to sell it.
Thank you! I don't know that I'll ever sell it unless I'm forced to. A lot of people have tried to buy it.
How is the car in terms of reliability?
What are the mechanical/electrical common issues and problems?
Really nice car I love it ❤
They were one of the most dependable cars ever built. I have quite a few videos on here about them. Thanks for watching!

Hay Tony How strong r the motor in that year because I'm getting a town car soon love your car!

Hi Tony, I am looking at this 1 year later do you still look at the comments? Or you just look at new comments. I like your Lincoln it is in a very nice nick.👍
I try to look at all of them. I will be doing some more videos on my own vehicles. Thank you!
Yeah the last Town Cars are really going up in price if you find a nice low mile one.
@@zekeworst9193 you've lost power or ground. It doesn't all quit working at the same time.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Ah. So ordering a new pigtail/switch board wouldn’t fix the issue then huh? Well, does that mean that I’ve lost power to all the windows? Cause none of the windows will roll down on any switch panel.
@zekeworst9193 Yes, you've lost power or ground to the master switch somehow.
When did they change the back up lites there was one big one in the center correct from 85 to 1987 ?
88-89.
Nice car!!!
Thanks mom! 😂 we have to do yours too!
I had an 88, wish I never sold it. Think I counted 73 light bulbs for the whole car lol
You probably did! Thank you very much for watching!
I did remember hearing that. I didn't know the CD player was a stand-alone option
It sure was.
Yeah I'm looking at another one now but can't pull the trigger on it.
Of course you added options to it that’s what you do! Lol

The Interior is the same color in my 88 town car. So that's not a one-year color
It is definitely a one year color. 88 was called Cinnabar, and 89 was called Currant Red. Get yourself the dealer brochures off of Ebay. I thought they were the same thing, too, until I tried to use an 88 part in an 89. They are a lot different than you know.

The price of those options are ridiculous.
Nothing like the 1970 s Lincoln they could tow 10 thousand pounds and carry 6 adults
These 80s town cars were so much more dependable and economical, though. I've had many of both.
