I'm legit a harsh-ass judge, and I wouldn't deduct on the first pass...at least not the landing. Mostly because the bounce-back of the sting mat looks like it is more responsible for any foot movement. You can also tell that she landed basically without momentum carrying her upper body back, so she wasn't trying to regain balance. Her lunge leg was only about a foot. There was a similar movement made by Trinity when she got her 10 a couple weeks ago. She landed the double pike and lunged far back and her plant leg moved slightly. The difference there was you could tell her upper body was traveling backwards and so the step back was fast and long(about 3 feet). Here she did not appear to be saving anything. That being said, I probably wouldn't have gone 10 because of some foot form. I can't take a flat foot in mid air.
I totally agree! Great performance from Kiya! It is ok to give a 10 for such a routine. Landings looked clean to me. All in all pretty close to perfection. The problem is that judges give a 10 for a nearly perfect routine to some gymnasts (like Trinity, Kiya...) but other gymnasts always get a 9.95 or 9.975 for (nearly) perfect routines (like Derrian, Alyssa Bauman, or Sydney Soloski). It looks just unfair to me and that makes me angry.
maybe i’m blind but i don’t see the foot slid that everyone on twitter is talking about on her first pass. like she moves her foot after her lunge but is it not to step into her dance? (genuine question because i don’t actually see the slide back)
i think it an illusion. Obviosly her two feet weren't together when she landed and she just moved her front feet back while her back feet were in place.
the judges only get to see it once, that slide on the first pass was so tiny, they probably couldn't see it, and they were much farther away then the camera, so maybe if they were watching this video they would see it, but i can imagine it would be very hard to if it was the first time.
In other routines she’s had that issue of feet sliding on landings where she got 10s, but this time after her routine ended she didn’t salute the judge.
lsu definitely isnt my fav, but thats not really a valid reason to hate kiya. if you feel the need to or want to hate someone, hate the judges, they gave the score.
@@gymnastnaima Yes very true, it's not that I hate her, she's amazing, but that the scores attached to her name frustrate me. All the respect to her, and yes you're absolutely right, it's the judges that need to do some work.
I just find it amazing that all the online judges here who can stop action and slomo everything do such a wonderful job of scoring while the paid judges don’t. The judges are not from LSU. They are NCAA judges. Kira is an All American on floor. She earned that because judges from all areas of the geographic NCAA scored her. People who think they know more than the judges need to just sign up to judge.
@@fgdh2460 The gymnasts don’t make their own choreography 🤡 blame the person that came up with it; not Kiya. I don’t know if you have a hard time reading and comprehending but the OP clearly said that Kiya’s CHOREOGRAPHY was terrible; not her performance (hence the “10” scoring).
there’s actually a foot slide for her first pass which is just a bit, but you probably wouldn’t see it real time because it took me a few times to spot it. it was a really good routine but she didn’t salute the judges at the end 😭
instead of hating on the judges and getting bent out of shape about “over-scoring”….lets just all appreciate the sport. commenting about the scores is such a waste of time like, it is what it is. just watch the routine and appreciate it for what it is instead of ripping it apart because her score was “undeserved”

Does anyone know her floor music? The more I watch it the more catchy it gets

i love kiya johnson and her gymnastics, but this was not a 10. Sorry
Well she didn’t salute the judge when she finished tho……

She is so good on this event but the judges don't need to make us fans hate her by giving her too many undeserved 10s...

STFU. We deserve our scores. LSU always rocks floor. So sweet to beat Auburn with their precious little Olympian. Suck on mat.
Don't hate on Kiya b/c she is a superstar gymnast who has poise, grace, talent and flawless technique. Welcome back, Kiya!!!!
Nobody is hating on her. Shes great. But that doesn't change the fact that she once again got a ten that wasn't a ten. Not her fault

How did they give this a ten when her foot clearly slid on the first pass but didn’t give Suni a ten when her landings were all perfect?
This is home judging yall... What do you expect?? :(
They were there along with 13,500 other people. At least I saw people sitting at the judges table.

Awesome job! Geaux Tigers!
Way to go Kiya Johnson & way to stick the landing on the floor routine!
That lunge on the second pass seemed odd to me not the first.
