A great interview! She's a lovely individual who clearly has the tenacity to exceed as an athlete. I hope this rise to fame doesn't impact her negatively. Can't wait to see how she competes in the SEC moving forward.
The fact that she refuses to take ANY responsibility for being objectified despite ACTIVELY objectifying herself is everything that it just amazing about modern women. Have your cake and eat it.
funny how men are able to post revealing pics and not worry about their safety/image, but as soon as a woman does it she's responsible for men acting like pigs publicly. Also, she's at most sexualizing herself, it's impossible to objectify herself. and men have the ultimate choice in how they choose to interact with her, unless you're saying they can't control themselves and are provoked by women dressing in skimpy clothing.
This girl just loves attention! She complains about receiving so much attention but she's constantly doing everything possible to receive more and more attention.
I think the thing that gets overlooked, particularly about Olivia, is that she is a high level athlete. While some may watch/follow her for her looks, she is a starter at one of the top gymnasts programs in the country
This is a double standard. This is exactly the way a whole crowd of girls acted during the boy band craziness. (also back then, the girls would grab and try to rip off the clothing of the boy band members. (& the media just portrayed them, as “normal” cute little girls hormones going wild over their crushed/heroes) - (I don’t think that’s ever gonna happen here, in the reverse situation)
She's pretty, but in a way where you could find a lot of other girls looking like,- at school. It's crazy how people will mount people up on pedestals and revere their para-social relationship. And Livy is wrong about girls not being responsible for what they post on social media. IF you're posting thirst traps and acting provocatively, then don't be surprised when viewers imagine you sexually.
It is not so common among athletes of her caliber. She got both the pretty face, the toned healthy body, and knows how to act all charming and innocent, plus she knows how to put it out. There is a reason she gets so many viewers, it's not by random chance. I do not myself know anyone female of this caliber, and I know hundreds of women. Of course, I may pass some on the street, still, those are one in a hundred.
Yo props to this young woman, she works hard and takes advantage of the opportunities that opened up for her. But, I have to admit, hearing that someone ten years younger than me is doing WAY better than I can imagine for myself is a perfect example of how social media can make one feel like garbage. I can only imagine what that means for America on a mass scale of social media users of all ages. Comparison is the thief of joy.
@@tanglecash127depends on circumstances actually. If you are beautiful like this young lady, life will be easier. If you are rich, life will be easier. If you live in a country where you have rights your life will be easier. If you are healthy, your life will be easier, etc
Yes Olivia, it is your responsibility on how you portray yourself on social media. Pictures will get mens attention. If you don't like it, stay off of social media. Simple as that.
She's gorgeous and smart enough to leverage that into money and opportunity. If people are so offended or whatever they don't have to look at her content. She's also a talented athlete so it's not like she is just riding on her looks alone but even if she was, there would be nothing wrong with that. People can do whatever they want, it's called freedom. As long as it's not hurting anyone it's okay and should be applauded.
"There are some people, occasionally, that do reach and it is a bit concerning," she said on the "Today" show in January. "As a woman, you’re not responsible for how a man looks at you and objectifies you. That’s not a woman’s responsibility." The reality is she makes millions from people "objectifying" her. If she didn't work out, over ate, had 0 talent, wasn't an attractive female, and didn't post any social media her life would be completely different that's 100% certain.
exactly what you said? if she wasn't attractive she wouldn't get this type of attention. meaning attractive women aren't allowed to exist in the presence of men without you objectifying them.
To be honest, she doesn't need to be in college still because she already has a full time career in being social media influencer. Look how much attention and money she makes. She's financially set. I do think she does need to take accountability for how she uses social media because she knows that it makes her a lot of money and marketable. Her choice in terms of what she does but take responsibility of what comes along with it and the things she has control over.
It amazes me how little one has to do to be famous. She dresses in barely anything, and Now she's becoming concerned with all the male attention she's receiving. This is not the America I grew up in.
Let's be real, she hit the genetic lottery. If she was really famous for her exceptional athletics, then Simone Biles would've been a multi-millionaire, before she even became an Olympian. She knows she is using her looks to get the marketing out there.
As deeply rooted physical attraction is in human nature, you cannot possibly claim that "as a woman you're not responsible for how a man looks at you" - that's merely an attempt to continue what she is doing while dodging and deflecting any and all responsibility for negative consequences. She's also fully aware that she can control how men percieve her because she's been able to amass such a large following and a 7-figure income
@@melissathwaites415 I mean it's a circle. You just go back to every single argument and think you won it. And then the counter comes and then it goes back around to it again. No start and no finish. Just is.

I get your point, that's not all true though. Several Middle Eastern countries, where women dress in very loose clothing and even cover their hair, have been reported to have the highest amount of SA cases. It isn't always about how a woman dresses.
What's wrong with "objectifying"? Let's not pretend it's not part of life. What matters is, how you treat people you interact with, there is nothing wrong with admiring and displaying beauty.
Lots of people blaming a 20-year old for the social media culture. Her content is playful and flirty, but otherwise not in bad taste, and she is probably just as surprised by the response as anyone. With fame comes certain risks and she has obviously chosen to accept that, as is her absolute right. (By the way, if she were an LGBT+ athlete, she would be celebrated as a trailblazer and a role model.)
She is using what she has ,to make money in this time frame ! Years from now , her looks might have changed and no one will care about her Gymnastic Accomplishments 30 years ago ! 200, 000 in a bank account with compounding interest in 30 years will be worth a lot ! There’s no blame haha, but she knows what she’s doing. Built up a massive following which will only continue to grow, then start only fans once she graduates where she’ll make a killing
She is lucky to be very beautiful, I hope that she will continue to improve her skills so that she can be famous for her skillset just as much as her beauty.
She has net worth of over $2 million- if her investments earn 5% per year she can have a $100,000 per year income for the rest of her life if she retires right now- she obviously won't do that, but it is amazing what a person can do with the smart use of social media- obviously being very attractive and charming and likeable is a big part of this- pretty amazing.

A "former" ex-gymnast I follow is "Jetting Julia" Ross. She was NCAA Div 1 at University of Denver. Now she is a flight attendant for American Airlines and a travel vlogger. Why not get paid for your NCAA experience?
The Bible talks about a woman dressing modestly. As a woman we have a responsibility to be aware and respectful of others' potential areas of weakness. We've been blessed with beautiful bodies as a gender, but it comes with responsibility.
So she's relying on her looks to get her through life at 20. I guess going to college is just a way for her to focus on that versus some who wants to go, for free, and get an education.
2:31, "As a woman, you are not responsible for how a man looks at you and objectifies you, that's not a woman's responsibility". I don't fully agree with that view, everyone is responsible for how they are viewed by society to a certain extent, and by that I mean that they have a certain level of control over it. In her case, she clearly isn't just posting pictures of herself in gymnastics outfits, she has pictures of herself in bikinis, swimsuits, and other outfits that are very revealing. She clearly could have not posted such pictures, but she chose to, which I would think it's safe to assume that that's one of the main reasons for her rise in fame and objectification.
If the lady with the glasses and black hair all of a sudden transformed into that gymnastic girl, and someone offered her seven figures and all she had to do was make silly videos on the internet, I bet she'd take it. :D
I think Dunne was doing her thing, got famous (mostly for her looks and talent), and simply played into it to further her passion and become as successful as she can with the exposure. While I'm sure she's enjoying the attention to an extent I'm also sure there's days where she would rather be invisible.
She has made Gymnastics much more interesting and vastly increased attendance at the meets she is in! . . . The NCAA should love that!!!! Have you ever wondered why the women are required to wear the uniforms they wear. Hhhhhhhmmmmmm!!!!!
Yup female privilege. Then she will cry about it one day how she doesn’t like how men treat her as a object. Women have ZERO accountability with their decisions.
The most liked comments on this video are ridiculous. She’s a hot young girl who is also a top gymnast. She’s posting cute photos and people love that stuff so she makes big money. Don’t be jealous.
"Your not responsible for how a man looks at you and objectifies you" don't act dumb, if you dress provacatively and post pictures of yourself on social media for attention then expect to be treated like that kind of woman.
Nice interview. I knew nothing of this girl beforehand, thus girl is very talented and I'm happy to see an 'influencer' actually doing smthng to earn it, rather than just taking setxty pics!! Good on her!!
What backwards way to look at it for her. If you put yourself out there on social media you have to take the good with the bad. They are all consequences of her decisions. If you can't handle all the hate and unwanted attention, don't post half naked selfies and tik toks.
Why do you also have to take the bad? She obviously knows it’s common for famous attractive people to be harassed, but that doesn’t mean she has to be. I think it is exactly how she says. She posts her stuff and is not responsible for the way people respond to it. The people who can’t behave are the problem here, even if she could have foreseen it. And to be honest, for me this has nothing to do with her. She is just another person who found succes by using what she has. I just hate it when people (especially my fellow men) try to justify harassment.
I disagree with the girl. A beautiful young girl like her especially in the public is responsible for how she looks, dresses and how she portrays herself. Her attitude falls short of all the women that parade around in the gym half naked while getting upset at men for looking at them. A large portion of her Fortune comes from how she looks and how she displays herself online. Some people on here have considered, and called anyone who is drawn to her to be a "creep". You cannot prejudge a person who is drawn to, temporarily or otherwise, an attractive person and not judge them as well. She brings a strong sexuality to her product in which affords her a power that she is indeed responsible for. This is the way it has been since the beginning. This is not hate. This is fact.

funny how men are able to post revealing pics and not worry about their safety/image, but as soon as a woman does it she's responsible for men acting like pigs publicly. Also, she's at most sexualizing herself, it's impossible to objectify herself. and men have the ultimate choice in how they choose to interact with her, unless you're saying they can't control themselves and are provoked by women dressing in skimpy clothing.

It is not so common among athletes of her caliber. She got both the pretty face, the toned healthy body, and knows how to act all charming and innocent, plus she knows how to put it out.

All of her fans are men of culture for sure
As deeply rooted physical attraction is in human nature, you cannot possibly claim that "as a woman you're not responsible for how a man looks at you" - that's merely an attempt to continue what she is doing while dodging and deflecting any and all responsibility for negative consequences. She's also fully aware that she can control how men percieve her because she's been able to amass such a large following and a 7-figure income

What's wrong with "objectifying"? Let's not pretend it's not part of life. What matters is, how you treat people you interact with, there is nothing wrong with admiring and displaying beauty.

A "former" ex-gymnast I follow is "Jetting Julia" Ross. She was NCAA Div 1 at University of Denver.
Now she is a flight attendant for American Airlines and a travel vlogger. Why not get paid for your NCAA experience?
"Flight attendant"? You mean "stewardess." Stewardesses need to be attractive again, so hiring a gymnast is a good idea.
20 is when you have it. Those women who rely on looks at 30 or even worse, 40+ are the pathetic

Its great to hear her speak.
