Not even 5 minutes in and I feel so much better. I've missed all of MCDM and co. so dearly. I just wish my internet was good enough to make it to streams but I'll more than happily settle for a VOD
Is great to see you guys having fun in the middle of all this.
I decided to look at the comments and I think someone needs to say this so I will. Matt has said dozens if not hundreds of times that the chain WILL NOT be played online and that they will only go back to playing it when there is a vaccine and ALL the players feel safe about being in a closed room for some hours.
Please guys, don't be jerks and expect these guys to put a show (that does not really make money for them) as a priority over their lives. The Chain will comeback when they fell safe about it, in the time between, OD is doing a lot of streams with the MCDM crew playing video games and I think they are planning on doing more of these Virtual board games, so enjoy this. We all want the Chain to comeback.
On that note, could you please share OD's twitch/youtube? For the life of me i cant find it. I love watching these folks play stuff, but codenames just doesnt do it for me as a spectator. ^^ Video games would be fun.

I just wish they would upload those streams to UA-cam, for some reason Twitch does not play well with my internet and takes way longer to load than UA-cam.

Just saying to you Americans... Siberia is a huge part of Russia. And yes, while a part of Russia is in Europe, Siberia isn't. And Scandinavia is as close to Siberia as New York is to California.

in game 2, red has an absolutly killer play with "Tremolo, 4" assuming anyone on that team players guitar.
A tremolo is found on a GUITAR and uses SPRINGs to alter the PITCH(ER) of NOTEs. Granted the "pitcher" is a little bit of a stretch, but I could see myself coming to that on 4 or giving it a shot as a bonus on 3

Just wanted to say that I thought "Orbitals 3" was a perfect code. Good job Matt! And also Töm did exactly what I thought he should: hope for OD to hit Force Lightning on his own and leave Palpatine for last just in case. Very well played

It might have been too niche, but Matt had a great Ichabod 4 set up. His name is Ichabod crane, it is a popular story/legend in America. The headless horseman is the other character in the story, and for those that know the story well, the headless horseman was decapitated during the American Revolution. This does run afoul of film, and book though, which are both neutrals.

In that 1st round, when Lindz gave the "Siberia" clue. I so hoped she'll just go "Train 2" and bank on Tom and Ray picking up that Europe and Snow are it.

My favorite way to watch these is to try and come up with my own clues for each team and see how close I get. The biggest difference this time was in the last game, I would have given the red team "Ichabod: 3" going for Crane, Head, and Story. God I missed this series, I hope they do more.
Ray was laughing to himself so much while Matt was going on about how great a clue it was while considering hitting the assassin.

Glad to see you guys back. You might want to explore some options like virtual table top or maptools/Roll20 to get back with D&D. Rough times but there are ways to work around it.
Super late backseat spymastering, but for the last clue for the final game, I would have gone for "Zen - Unlimited". Get them thinking about buddhism, monks, meditation: Bonsai trees, scrolls, (shaved) heads, cranes (paper or martial arts styles potentially). And then they already have the other two Story and Easter. It's a stretch, but that's immediately where my mind went. I wouldn't say "Monks" or "Monastery", as they might go for Christian Monks and pick "Book".
It appears as if staying up until 5 in the morning has finally paid off!

Finally got the internet hooked up today since moving a couple months ago. Great to see a new MCDM video! I was looking forward to rewatching the Chain, Codename, Dune... vids. Hell, even Star Citizen and Rocket League, both of which, I really enjoyed.
Any plans or thoughts on MCDM using Fantasy Grounds or Roll 20 or any kind of emulator for rpg or board games?
Sorry if you've already answered this, as I said I just got internet service back today so I'm a little out of the loop.

Two teams, each has a 'codemaster'. The aim of the game is for your team to select all of the words that are your colour. The catch is, only the codemaster can see which are your colour.
Starting with a specific codemaster, they say only one word and a number. The codemaster is only able to say one. The word is the 'clue', and 'the number' is the number of words the codemaster thinks relates to that clue.
The corresponding team is then able to select that many words on the board plus one extra, not seeing any colours. When the team selects a word, the codemaster displays the colour of the word. If the team gets any wrong (not their colour), play passes to the other team. There is a catch however, if a team selects the 'black' coloured card they instantly lose. The gray cards also count for no team.
Codemasters are not allowed to provide clues which aren't in the spirit of the game as well. Saying 'horseshoe' when a word you want them to select is shoe is illegal. Similarly 'phone' as a clue would not be allowed for 'grown', and 'top-left' would not be allowed for a clue located in the top-left of the board.
