Sixty years later. He's still got it. One in a million voice, and sound.

Buddy was an innovator and influenced generations of performers. The Beatles took their name as a nod to Buddy Holly and the Crickets.

Cool fact, Buddy Holly & The Crickets were first Group of White Guys to play in front of an All Black Audience at The Apollo Theatre in New York. No one had ever done that before and Buddy broke the mold. Black Artists usually talk about them being the one's always crossing over and say White Artists never have crossed over to them.., well Buddy did and they the All Black Audience loved it 😁

It's an upright bass and you're right about the greatness of buddy Holly how he was one of rock's originators . And less than a year later he was gone.

great song .... songs poured out of Buddy Holly at an astonishing rate, and he wrote 30 or 40 great songs before his untimely death at the age of 22 in the famous plane crash ... "the day the music died"... he had a huge influence on everyone from the Beatles to the Ramones

There was controversy over this performance. Ed Sullivan didn't want him to play this song, because he found it to sexual. He wanted Buddy to do Peggy Sue again, even though they did that a year earlier and was not a new song. Buddy refused and played OH BOY anyways and that is why the lights went low and guitar was low. In some no edited versions Ed walks over to Buddy at the end and tries to shake his hand, but Buddy storms off.

Also I watched Dion DiMucci who was on the bus that kept breaking down in sub zero weather which is what prompted Buddy Holly to charter the plane. You can watch Dion's version of The Buddy Holly Story on UA-cam. It's really interesting and he also sings a song that he wrote as a tribute to Buddy Holly. Sorry about the multiple entries I just kept thinking of different things I thought you might be interested in knowing since you seem to enjoy doing reaction videos.

Also the coin toss that the movie La Bamba changed didn't happen outside the plane it happened in the back room of The Surf Ball Room. And it was Tommy Allsup. It really amazes why they would change what really happened. I can't see why changing that could possibly make the movie any better.
