Thank you for this video, I followed your instructions and my pressure washer started up like a charm. Sat for one session without use and carburetor needed to be cleaned
This is the BEST Ryobi/Honda carburetor remove/clean/replace!!!! The filming images are so clear. You did a great job. Very informative. I did all of this yesterday with the exception of the center jet cleaning. I know I'll be doing that today!!! THANKS!
Thank you for the video. My neighbor got rip of one exactly like the one you fixed. It looks like new new but doesn’t run. I cleaned the carburetor and bingo!! It was so satisfied! 🎉
Thanks to you and your how-to, I was able to take the carb out and clean it and my washer fired up instantly. You saved me time and money from having to take it to the repair shop. THANK YOU!!
The engine is supposed to idol down when you let off the trigger. The pressure bypass switch on the bottom of the pump is out of adjustment. It's a bolt with a spring around it and a big and little jam-nut. Back off the little nut to adjust the big one, then lock em back together when you find the right setting. More than likely the pressure will also increase when it is in the correct position. Also, the surging will stop. Being out of adjustment is the number one reason small engine pressure washers surge. Hope this helps you and the other viewers.
Currently having a problem with pressure buildup with mine. I used to be able to operate the surface cleaner attachment but now it barely even spins. Along with other noticeable differences in pressure through normal operation. First I cleaned the carb because it wouldn’t run unless coke on start and wood dies when moving to run. Fixed that then noticed pressure issues. Any recommendations?? Thanks in advance.
Wow, what a great piece of info!! Don't suppose you have any tips for an electric powered air compressor that won't start, do ya? Yes it has oil & yes I drained the water from the plug underneath it. It won't start unless I simultaneously slam the front end of it down as I flip the power switch on. Very annoying. Help?
David, the surge at idle is not from an improperly set unloader valve. I wish it was or mine would be fixed! It runs great loaded and surges like crazy at idle just like this one. New carb didn’t fix it either.
I am a single woman, and always have trouble with cranking engines My exact pressure washer did the exact same thing..thank you so much for this video it taught me a lot on how to troubleshoot shoot it!! I did exactly what you did and got it to turn over!!! And thank you. 😊
Wow! Thank you so much! I now know what they mean when they say old gas turns to varnish! When I emptied the bottom carb. bowl, and poured it into a cup, it smelled like varnish! I cleaned it all out with break cleaner, but the needles wouldn't unscrew, so I left them, sprayed up in there until break cleaner shot completely through, then closed it all up. I then put the choke on, turned on the valve, and ONE PULL, IT STARTED RIGHT UP! Gas won't be sitting in there from now on! Thank you again!!! You also have a new subscriber!
Guys like you are putting my small engine repair shop out of business. Thx!........ JK. Lol. I just got my Ryobi running today thx to you. Appreciate it!
I tried the easy fixes and none worked. I saw this video and decided to take the carburetor apart and clean it. Luckily I have a roll of small piano wire to clean the holes, removed the gum, polished the parts and reassembled it. Bingo! Works now like a champ. Thanks, bunch, partner.😃
Just got a 2700 psi washer for free..the people said it ran for five minutes and died...I got it home turned on the fuel, runs and works perfectly...I have 9 pressure washers, all trash picked...they now run like new...
Thanks for a great video. I did exactly what you showed to do and for the cost of $10 for the "tiny brushes" at Advanced Auto my pressure washer purrs like it was new. It wouldn't even start before. Many thanks!!
I just snagged one of these from the curb. The previous owner had stripped the screws on the carb for a new one. $24 for an OEM Honda carb. I bolted it up and it fired but surged and only ran on choke. Turned out the gaskets I got were shaped wrong. Cut some new ones out from a piece of gasket material and it runs fine.
Man mine does same thing. Sometimes will run for about 20 minutes than shut off and wont start again. Now i pull out now and nothing. Scared to try this once all thise pins started falling out of carb. But ill give it a go. Great vid my man.
Mine has sat over the winter and won’t run except starting for a few seconds with starter fluid. I assumed I was going to have to pop the carb but was curious what other people have run into and the magic required to get these finicky engines running. My gut told me to go with the Briggs motor but splurged for the Honda. I’ve never had major issues with a Briggs so lesson learned. Yours is a nice detailed video of carb disassembly if I need it!
Thank for the video, took it off just like you but i used some carb cleaner instead of the brushes.I aimed the small tube of the carb cleaner into each cavity of until it would squirt out with pressure. After that it fired right up.
I have a RYOBI Power Washer and on idle it runs ruff too the same as the one you are showing, but apparently, its a normal idle for them, but once you the trigger, it's blast off time !
Thank you, it is a great video I have a same pressure whaser that doesnt start, will check it on monday, maybe I going to put large studs and thight whith nuts, I think it is a good opcion
Mama bear going to try to repair her power washer because all these guys I take my machines to seem to be ripping me off telling me that never end up working look here it is.. I'm going to try it myself wish me good luck
I have the same washer. I didn't know about the switch on the bottom. However there is a fuel filter inside of the fuel hose. It is the hose end connected to the gas tank. Believe it or not it is there. Go figure.
To make life much better simply go to the hardware store and buy two, CHEAP 10mm, bolts 2, 3 or even more inches longer than the usual carb mounting bolts. To remove the carb pull just ONE of the carb bolts and hand screw one of the new, long bolts in it's place. Repeat with the other bolt. The carb slips off with all it's gaskets in order so that it's easy to see how they are arranged. When finished cleaning the carb 'build' the carb assembly on the new, long bolts. With the carb assembly on the long bolts put the carb back where it came from on the block and JUST start the too long bolt into the block - and after it's just started STOP. Holding the carb assembly to the block remove one long bolt and replace it with the original (short) bolt and hand tighten. Then, pull the second long bolt and replace it with the regular mounting bolt. Everything is a lot easier and the long bolts go into the tool box as a reusable tool for the future. That has worked for me for years. The governor anti surge spring is probably looser than it should be - that is probably the reason for the hunting with a clean carb. Be a little slow on advising to BORE out a brass metering part in a Honda carb since it takes days to order and receive / replace that part so it'll run like a new machine. Too much fuel carbons up the head, the valves, the spark plug and all the other exhaust areas mighty quickly
That's a pretty good idea, Joe....the extra long bolts. I'm going to have to try that! I have another trick for these honda carbs....using M6x1.0 threaded rod instead of the factory bolts. I plan to demo this in an upcoming video. So, are you in AK or ID?
I'm a single mother as well and trying to fix this exact pressure washer. I wish you put it back together step by step. I'm worried I might put it back together wrong :-(
Mines doesnt do anything at all wont even try and start and I tried to shoot carb cleaner in the airintake just to see but just wont turn over ? You think if I take whole carb apart snd clean that will help or should I just buy new carb for it ?
Fuel, spark, compression are the three essentials. Are you getting spark? Is the "off/run" switch in the "run" position? Get a cheap inline spark tester from Harbor Freight Tools to verify spark. Use Starting Fluid, not carb cleaner, because not all carb cleaners are flammable; like the carb cleaner spray from Walmart will not work as it does not ignite. Try those things, and let me know what you discover!
Got the same exact Pressure washer from a lady who couldnt get it running so she was getting rid of it. Took My carb apart and cleaned out, so it'll start, but i have to hold the throttle open with my hand in order to actually get it to run. Im pretty sure its the Spark plug is either fouled out, or gapped to wide. Still troubleshooting.
Welders torch tip cleaners work great for cleaning those small hole. It usually comes as a set with a number of different sizes. Great video, thanks! 👍👍. Also, have you tried using K100 fuel stabilizer, works fantastic, use in all my equipment.
Mine has the same issue, I already cleaned the carburator and it was super nice and clean. What I am thinking is that is does not have any sparks in the spark plug. I just ordered a spark plug tester, I will see what it does. Is there a way to change the spark plug cable? I am thinking that's the problem. Mine is almost brand new...
Shoot some starting fluid directly into the throat of the carburetor and see if it will run briefly on that. If so, then you know you've got spark and that the issue is fuel related. It's possible for a spark plug to go bad, but that happens only rarely. It's easy enough to swap it out for a new one. Good luck.
Hey Buck! I think mine is not getting any gas going through the lines. I already cleaned the carburator and sprayed fluid starter and it seems that when I spray the fluid it all goes down. I think I didn't install the carburator correctly and is sucking air.
I have the exact same power washer and it won’t start after sitting with fuel over the winter. Going to order the cleaning parts and give this a try. But first I’m going to replace the spark plug. Mine starts for a second when I spray some in it then shuts right off. Thanks. Do you know if you put the gasket back on correctly.
You don't need a new spark plug. If it starts and runs briefly on starting fluid, then you need to clean out the carburetor, as I did in this video. Good luck.
Followed your directions …. started right up with one pull. But now it only runs when the choke is on. Could this be a gas problem? Maybe too much ethanol?
Hi, I received a 3100PSI 2.5 gmp that was not started. I clean the carburetor and change the spark. Now started and smooth, but as long as i trigger the gun my exhaust start smoking, and when i left it engine on not pressure no smoke. Do have any idea? thanks!
Me too, mine passed & left me with all kinds of great equipment that he could no longer maintain so now I’m trying to get things running so I can use them. I take pictures of how the parts are supposed to go so I can get them back together thru my tears from missing him. I’m so grateful for videos like this.
I cleaned everything and mine still doesn’t run. I have a ryobi 3300 with idle down. Anyway, every time I press the lever it works but when I let it go it shuts off. I cleaned the y loader valve and still no success. It shuts off only when I press the lever. Any ideas what it could be?
Hi Michael, I don't put a lot of confidence in fuel-stabilizer products, although some people swear by them. I think the best bet is to empty old fuel and store the machine without fuel, especially without fuel in the carburetor bowl. These Honda engines have a fuel shut-off valve, which is helpful. Shut off the fuel and run the engine till it uses up the fuel in the carburetor and stops running on its own. Then you know the fuel bowl is empty and dry. (Of course, don't run a pressure washer engine without the water line connected to the pump.)
I did the same, and I even replaced the carburetor. But when I start the power washer(with starter fluid only) it will start and stop right away. Any suggestions?
You're not getting fuel flow through the carburetor. Don't overlook the obvious. Is the fuel shut-off valve in the open position? Is there fuel in the carburetor bowl?
@@talalfoz Running on choke only means you're still not getting proper fuel flow through the carburetor main jet. By closing the choke plate, the engine can pull more fuel and less air. When you open the choke plate, you're getting too much air and not enough fuel. It could be a faulty carburetor (especially if you bought a cheap aftermarket made in China carburetor). Or, if the carburetor is not seated properly to the engine block with a good gasket, it could be sucking air that way instead of through the carburetor throat. I recommend cleaning the original carburetor thoroughly, especially the main jet, and reinstalling it. You're simply not getting enough fuel.
Working on mine the last couple days Water comes through the pump Drained old gas and put new gas in Choke/gas on Carb/main jet cleaned it had a lot of gunk Getting spark Still no luck, only things I haven’t tried are some starter fluid and cleaning the top secondary jet.

Ebay!

disconnect the fuel line 8:02 , the line running to the fuel flow knob.
Does it have a fuel filter?

Some very good tips but the whole reason for watching this video was to solve my surging problem and when it was finished yours was still surging.
It’s starting when I start it with the choke and as soon as I slowly switch it to the run option it shuts off. I was holding the trigger too
Must clean main jet better if it only runs on choke.

One simple suggestion....make sure the oil is not over-filled. Too much oil can cause smoking like that.
Whats the issue with the throttle with these , are they supposed to have a spring on cable?
Yes
😢😢😢I wish my husband could do something like this.
