  • Cross stitch technique - Knotless Loop method: Cut the stranded cotton roughly twice the length you would normally need and separate one strand. Double this strand and then thread your needle with the two ends. Pierce your fabric from the wrong side where you intend to place your first stitch, leaving the looped end at the back of the work. Return your needle to the wrong side after forming a half cross stitch and pass the needle through the waiting loop. The stitch is now anchored and you may begin to stitch. This method avoids knots and will keep your back neat. I hope you find this cross stitch tip useful.

I'm crosstitching on a prequilted quilt. how can I keep from stitches showing on the quilt backing? i know i can go through the top two layers to do the stitches, but how do I secure the ends of the floss?

You can do a loop start from the front of the fabric.

That's what I do. So much easier and you can't tell once you finish the X.

How does this work with a three-strand 11 CT project? If I follow these directions, I end up with six strands on my needle.
