@@RenaissancePeriodization do current fitness influencers
@@RenaissancePeriodization Joel seedman 😂
“the number of reps in reserve for that exercise seem to be approximately infinity” 🤣 Mike’s jokes are next level
My biggest issue with fitness and education is everyone thinks they’re doing it right. One day binging this channel could put any competent person on the right track, but people want to do partial reps then 30 minutes of intense cardio before drinking a six-pack of craft IPA.
The IPA shouldn't be the problem lol
I don't see how the International Phonetic Alphabet would be a problem or how it could be a 6 pack ... oh, you're talking about alcohol, aren't you?
Do you know how much Protien you need to skip to get smashed on IPAs? i don't either, probably more than a box of nuggets
It's like economics, there is an economist here in Argentina that might be the next president and I remember a tweet replying to one of his that said "how does it feel to spend your entire life studying a topic of which everyone has an opinion on but knows nothing about" lmao. Everyone has an opinion on fitness and nutrition without being informed on the topic.
Oddly specific details… 😏
Seeing Shaq next to regular gym equipment is just hilarious. It's like a guy stepped into a toy gym
It looks like he could do a full stack on any machine with his thumb and index finger
Please make this a regular thing! I need Dr. Mike reviewing fitness influencers at least once a month.
First on the chopping block is Bradley Martyn? Dom would be proud.
This is why I love yah Doc. Your such a straightforward no bs man. If anybody watched your training videos they would think you'd be tearing each of these celebrities apart. Atleast I did. You didn't. You approached every video with respect and honesty. Made sure to point out the positives well before the negative then reiterate the positives. Shows the type of man you are. You go brother.
Dang, I was hoping the infamous Leebron squat video was in this one
Boy I hope there is a round 2, this was quite delightful
I wish more academically trained professors were as funny as you Mike I'm dying
Just found this channel and I already love this guy. He's the perfect blend of hardcore lifting bro and genuinely nice guy whose seems to be incredibly knowledgeable. Subbed for sure.
Yah and he has a Doctorate in this stuff.
This is just the type of content your channel needed to compliment your very educational stuff. A large dose of humor with celebrities pulling clout. Dr Mike we have a winner.
I saw the title and laughed 5 minutes before clicking into it, though I have to say this was much more thoughtful and tasteful than I had anticipated. There was the bit about being with 2 guys at once that I extrapolated into it happening regularly, sometimes in public, so yeah, that's pretty good.
Mate this is a great type of video! I’ve always wanted a trainer like u to review celebs training to see whether it’s worthy or not.
If this is a new video series, I am all in on this!
Dr. Mike cool video. Perhaps another one on bodybuilders present and old. Perhaps their nutrition as well if possible.
This was both entertaining and slightly educational. I would not mind seeing more content of this nature. Thanks Dr. Mike!
Wahlberg also claims to finish workouts with 40 pullups, if I recall correctly.
Between his leg size, dislike of eccentrics, and cocaine consumption, I see no reason to disbelieve him.
@@salvadorromero9712 well he is 130lbs so maybe
Man, I'd love to see the technique on those pullups! - Dr. Mike
@@RenaissancePeriodization just UA-cam it 😂
@@RenaissancePeriodizationIt was actually really sad and he called them clean 😂😂 you gotta look it up on UA-cam for real!
More of this please! I love these videos!
Make this a series Dr.Mike🥂
Do reviews of gym fails. Been watching Brian Shaw review gym fails and it’s been entertaining. Would love to see Dr. Mikes take on ‘em!
Shaq hitting those poses like a pro bodybuilding. Much respect!
1min in, and I officially need a series of this!
Once you’ve seen the truth it cannot be unseen. Less weight, more rom is usually a good place to start. Thank you for teaching us principles Dr. Mike and not arbitrary exercises and rep ranges! Love you 😇
Dropping your compounds back down to 135 to focus on form and full ROM is a humbling but gratifying experience.
@@joe14636 it’ll pay off in a big way down the line
Those if us that started with calisthenics know that form is everything and how to get more out of less
Dr Mike, critiques and sense of humor is great!
Could watch these all day - sense of humor is bang on!
A very smart and fun video, thank you Dr.Mike.
You could legit be a comedian bro lol. Love it Mike
Dude we need more of these videos 💪🏽🍷
6:24 Please post a complete program customized for me based on a single piece of information.
LOLLLL - Dr Mike
I love this channel! It's like watching Mystery Science Theater 3000. I could binge this all day😂
Need more of these!!!!
I'm looking forward to see more of these types of video reactions but applied to fitness influencers, your jokes are the cherry on the top of the cake.
You are the best Dr Mike.
You put cherries on top of your cake?
@@aviana009 yes I do
he is the only Dr. Mike
The world needs more of this!
Love these!!!! More please
I absolutely loved this video!! ❤
Man I need a long form video just absolutely roasting celebrity/influencer workouts
This was great more of these!
Great content per usual. I can't believe I've missed all these 😂
Love you and your science mate !!
Cailer Woolam does really similar rows to what Bradley Martyn was doing. Given that he deadlifts over 900lbs at 220ish - probably a reasonably useful lift from a powerlifting perspective.
And Dorian Yates also is a big proponent of that exercise. And Bradley seemed to be doing it well to me.
First time I’ve disagreed with the doctor on an exercise before. I think back rows performed as Martin did are fine.
Thank you dr mike. this was gold
Love that you train in bjj bro, got my purple 3 years ago working towards my brown.
I subscribed because of your bubbly personality, keep it up mike, here from your Kunal nanjiani video
I need that T-shirt Dr Mike is wearing
Get it here: teamfullrom.com/ - Dr. Mike
I love this channel!
Mike, please do another!!!!
I fuckin died @ the Marky Mark part... bruh LMAO
I love this guy, he's the Louis Rossmann of weight training reactions. Calling people the heck out lol
More of this please Dr Mike. I vote including Batista next time.
More of these!
Please do one on gym fails just for fun, because those are hilarious. Like one special of a COVID home gym fail compilation would be awesome. Now's the time to do it. Every time I see that one lady lift the dumbbells over her head in her kitchen and smash the light fixture kills me.
Very fun series :D
Your educational background lured me here but your humour kept me.
Question: If the Rock does 4 sets with no rest time in between, is it just one massive set then?
Would he have to then do 4 more sets like that in order to complete the workout? Is he done yet? Will he be done this year?
Wouldn't Scissors be doing abductor exercises until the cows come home?
 it's called super setting, so 4sets of one exercise super setted with 4sets of another. or they're drop sets. one set at one weight, drop weight then do another w/out rest in between.
@@esoteric404 I was being facetious.....
@@MrEsPlace if you say so
@@esoteric404 does that reply make you feel better? You save face there?
I love the Ben Bruno clip, typical instagram ex phys nonsense. Let's take a simple movement, make it look way more complex than it has to so I look like I invented something and know what the fuck I'm doing, but in reality it's less effective than just doing the simple version, but people that don't know any better will follow me and think I'm a genius cuz I tricked a celebrity into letting me "train" them.(Swap in Joel Semen and makes similar sense.)
Tbf Ben Bruno acknowledges repeatedly that most of the flashy stuff is window dressing, and he does spend a lot of time getting his clients strong on the basics like regular split squats.
For what it's worth, stuff like this is massively useful if you have clients who are always asking for variation or to "switch it up". I often give them stuff like this to do between sets of normal heavy compounds, and they feel like they're getting variation, or muscle confusion, or whatever it is that Instagram has told them they need, when they're actually just doing sets of 8 in the squat with some mobility work during the rest periods.
Another joel seedman
@@jontysimson It must be whack to have to trick who are essentially your students with smoke and mirrors. This is not a roast, I really think it's a sad situation created by online 'fitness' where fitness instructors feel they need to do this and I'm sure if you didn't do it then many trainees would miss out on your otherwise excellent instruction
@@mrbouncelol it's just about speaking your clients language, no trickery involved. Most general population clients have fairly limited patience for talking about sport science, but they still want to have an input into the design of the training. I'll say something like "You're actually making great progress with your squats, but as you want to switch things up, let's super set squats with [insert fun looking exercise] and [some core exercise, usually ab wheel] but we'll still keep the load manageable here so we can emphasise our big exercise"
Clients only have a limited amount of time and only a select portion wants to listen to an explanation of why squats have more muscle building potential than [trendy exercise]. Even the ones who understand the ideas behind exercise selection, variation, and the other training variables etc still enjoy variety from a psychological perspective. I train clients in a garage and don't have a huge number of high quality lower body training options compared to training clients in a commercial gym, so doing stuff like this in the rest periods also keeps things feeling fresh, which is actually a really important thing, especially during hard training. I remember reading something in a book I'll have to try and find again about how with their top level teenage athletes, it was actually really useful just to try and change the practice space semi regularly because it decreased psychological fatigue with the training process. That kind of cosmetic change which doesn't really alter the stimulus at all does actually seem to enhance training, and their introduction might be the sort of thing which lets you bring a bit more energy to those difficult final workouts of a meso
I don't feel bad if Chelsea Handler is swindled out of money by her trainer. Most celebrities are stupid as fuck and have way too much money.
I’d love to see your thoughts and possibly explanations of some racing car driver workouts. Particularly F1
07:45 A BROWN BELT!!! WELL DONE BOSS, biggest surprise of the video😅💪
I love you, Dr Mike. In a sort of... stranger and UA-cam PhD kind of way. Tale as old as time, really.
Now the man, the legend that is Terry Crews, regularly replies to random comments online and he’s a G for it
Chelsea Handler's infinite reps in reserve legit made me laugh!
I love how all his commentary is some variation of "bad form but love you, bro!"
This is my favorite video he has done
More of this !
Love it! Absolutely hilarious 😂
We need episode 2 of story time with dr mike please 🥺
this is my fav video of all time
Please make this a weekly special
“Michael Jackson workout “ LMAOO!😂 GOTTA LOVEEEEEEE DR. Mike!
I rolled when Doc was like “I’ve been with 2 guys before…but I wouldn’t call what we were doing fighting.”😂😂😂 subscribed immediately
Is there a reason why you would recommend always doing full range of motion. I can definitely see that if you only do partial/ small range of motions that might not be ideal. But are there short range of motion exercises that can be good as accessory to other lifts. What about rehab?
Dr. O'neal is overall impressive. There's no way to underestimate this fellow
RIR approximately Infinity hahahahah got me there!
2 more youtubers to critique, big daddy dom mazzeti from bro science and ryan humiston who is so fucking under rated! Love your work Dr mike
I'm agreeing with almost everyone that this needs to be a regular segment by Dr. Mike.
I've wanted this for a loooooong time
I would call a power row more explosive pendlay row. I have seen it used for deadlift improving deads.
Dr. Mike is my favourite celebrity, however, I suspect his daily (nightly?) unilateral forearm training might occur too often without sufficient recovery time. Can you comment on the benefits of high volume, high rep forearm program like his?
Please do more
You have humour very rare in the fitness community
Dr Mike could you do a Wes Watson review? Would love to see that thanks man 👊
Due to the Steve Segal video Im will forever be a fan. Thank you
love this! please make more of this "entertainment" focused content
I actually love this channel, you know why, because it is devoid of unnecessary BS!!!
Back in 2013 I tried to start Working out, misinformation, not enough knowledge, lots of men's health😂, got me nowhere
Flash forward today, I have read more, and one thing I have concluded is that in order to be "fit and healthy" simplicity is key, the more you complicate things, the further away you are from making any real progress!!
Now I stick to a simple routine, do progressive overload, track my nutrition and stick to básic weightlifting moves, no complex, alien movement patterns endorsed by people like Magnus, seedman, etc
Keep it simple, be constant and stick to basics, that's my humble opinión
1:46 this is why I love Dr. Mike, his tangents are so oddly specific yet on point or hilarious. How the fuck did he get that surfer brah movie cliché accent down? The fuck? Hahahahha
The way Dr Mike said "hey everybody" with the music like he was about to spit some bars on an 80s hip hop beat
Plz analysis the vid of Alexandrer skarsgårds workout for the Northman, his traps are insane in that film, great vids!!!
Sorry doc.... im new here... are you always this fucking hilarious? Ive only recently began my journey with weight training... i tell ya. You and shredded sports be having me caring about shit idc about just so i can laugh more while watching yall vids 😂😂😂
Mike eu sei que você é um doutor em musculação e seu conhecimento na área é inestimável, mas por favor faça mais alguns vídeos como esse. Simplesmente maravilhoso hahahahahahh
Mucho hijo quanto quaso elvish rings lord nacho of da.
Kkkkkkkkk
What class do you teach? I want to register for it if I haven't taken it already
01:08 George Leeman did them like this too, at least comparable, as an deadlift accessory exercise
Love this dude.
Only thing I think could be addressed is older ex athletes.
I use to love dips, but after surgery on both shoulders I just can not go deep anymore. I still do them and get some workout, but I know it is not as useful as it use to be.
Second is bench. When I did my max at 405 I went all the way touching my chest, but I could not work out that way. It would hurt my shoulder too much and just did not feel stable. I did this at age 48/49 and a couple years after shoulder surgery.
What I am saying after 2 Achilles ruptures, Both shoulder surgery, for rotator cuff and reconnect my bicep I had to modify allot of my exercises.
I do not lift as much as I enjoy playing Basketball (3rd Achilles rupture), on the flip side I have great blood pressure, runners heart rate and leaning out.
All that to say, do you recommend people with old issues to modify their lifts where they fill comfortable and stable?
I know you will not answer.
Words full of wisdom and knowledge, thank you.
A useful addition to these videos would be demonstrating the proper technique or a better alternative to the exercise that is being critiqued.
He does give at least one better alternative during the video.
This is a great ideo Dr. Mike, keep it up!
Your dry humor and commentary makes me laugh. Love how u breakdown all of these people’s workout routines
The opening line got me 😂
I don't know what Bradley's doing, 'cause I don't follow him, but I do know that exercise was, at one time, credited by Cailer Woolam as adding pounds to his already impressive deadlift. I think he called them deadlift rows, and performed them in a more sports specific way than Bradley's doing here.
Man, you should play Benjamin Grimm/the Thing in the next Fantastic Four movie. You’d be perfect!
I would absolutely love you watch eric bugenhagen training 😂😂❤
