    There are many UA-camrs to choose from, when it comes to microgreen tutorials. I enjoy several different channels, but I always find myself searching for this channel when it's time for a refresher, or to try a new grow. You have a positive attitude, are to the point, with good explanations and information. Thank you!

    Btw, chemist here: food-grade H2O2 will decompose to H2O pretty quickly; you don’t have to be too paranoid about rinsing the seeds to get the hydrogen peroxide off

      I have used regular drugstore hydrogen peroxide, and I still get lots of fungal/ mildew type death. Is he
      used no a higher concentrate?

    What would be the cause of the sunflower bulls to not come off easily? I had an excellent tray growing looking wonderful but then the hulls weren’t coming off, even with water misting and then brushing.

    so did you simply water it day one and ignore it for the next 4 days? or do you spray it again once a day?

    Do you water the sunflower seeds for those days they are under the weight? Also do you water during the blackout period? Thank you.

      No and no.
      Other UA-cam channels are very wrong pulling crops out during these phases to water them. It’s 100% not needed.
      Imagine having 2-10 racks of microgreens and having to take them out of blackout daily, unstack, wipe down every tray, and water them… daily!? 😰😰😰😰
      Haha. No one would ever grow microgreens commercially ever again! 🥰😘

    I was speaking with someone about the trays and blackout and they said to flip it. I misunderstood and I thought she meant to flip the sprouted seeds into the tray without holes. (Yes dum dum here) and when I realized what she meant after watching this video my question is will my sunflower sprouts still find its way to the top of the soil? I see a few of them have because they weren't fully buried but will they all?

    Have you tried adding a layer of coco on top of the seeds to help knock the shell off the sprout

    I grew a tray of black oil sunflowers and the true leaf is already showing and its only day 8, they are pretty tall and strong. Would you harvest them or let them go to day 10?

      Everyone’s environment will be a touch different. As long as they look ready to go, cut those babies!

    Spin the tray around as you spray the hydrogen peroxide there's different pitch and angles of the leaves and stalk where the prox , needs to get to.

    All of a sudden, I can just not grow spicy salad mix or sunflower without a couple-few patches of that spiderweb mold. So discouraging, but I don't know why is what's most annoying, sanitizing with peroxide, trying to keep good airflow, not over watering. I wondered if maybe the plastic shelf the trays are sitting on are unclean and that could cause it? Cause I've never cleaned the shelf, I just wanna figure it out. Don't like mold!🙃

      Are your hands "clean". So if you touch the seeds as you lay down the seed and work around the environment.. I have a bowl of hydrogen peroxide get my hands into before I touch anything

    What is a good measurement of Hydrogen peroxide to water, when your using the 3% kind found in grocery stores? I'm sure you would need more than 1/2 a tsp.

      Hey Gordon, I have found that the H2O2 does a great job suppressing and eliminating mold on its own. The mold I had recently with a batch of sunflower micros was completely mitigated with two light misting treatments of H2O2.

      @@tullydj2 What measurements would you use to dilute the hydrogen peroxide that is 3% found in grocery stores? I've been using hydrogen peroxide for my sunflower microgreens and it does nothing to prevent the mold. So, I'm thinking I may have diluted it too much.

      @@tullydj2 Did you know the Hydrogen Peroxide he's using in this video is industrial grade High Potency, and not the kind you can buy in grocery stores? Therefor if your using the kind from grocery stores, you don't need to dilute it so much.

      @@cannotbeshaken7889 Good point. I order and use Essential Oxygen HP Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide 3% USP. I recently noticed it is sold at Whole Foods. It really works great. I first saw the product being used on the On the Grow YT channel and it has worked for them as well.

    Do you know what temperature your seeds are in during germination? The temperature of my room went down and the germination process is taking an extra day or two causing the seeds that didn't sprout to mold even after sterilizing the seed.

      We try to aim around 70 F for sunflower

      @@3ddiev that’s too high for sunflower in my experience. It causes too much humidity and mold growth in blackout from what I’ve found.

    you can just put the tray on the shelf without lights and they will stretch anyways. putting that cap on top locks in bacteria and mold.

    When I harvest my sunflowers, after some time the cut area of the stem begins to turn brown. I use scissors with a small amount of serration on the blades. What might be the problem and the solution.

    Your Hydrogen Peroxide mixture has expired and is not effective. Hydrogen Peroxide is VERY sensitive to light (that is why it is in a brown bottle). So, you will have to make that mix fresh every time.

    I see on other channels that was using black oil sunflower bird seed from home depot. Heard that's a no go.
