I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE HER TWICE, ONCE IN 1990 W/LYLE LOVEIT AND AT THE BISMARK THEATRE IN CHICAGO IN THE 80'S. SHE IS THE MOST FANTASTIC SINGER SONGWRITER I EVER HEARD. I HAVE ALL HER VINAL ALBUMS AND LISTEN TO THEM STILL. VERY OFTEN THEY ARE MY FIRST PICK WHEN I'M GOING THROUGH MY MANY ALBUMS. SHE CAN PLAY ONE HELL OF A PIANO. I WISH SHE WOULD COME IN CONCERT IN DALLAS SOMETIME SO I COULD SEE HER AGAIN. #1 FAN, KAREN CURRAN-GILL
I noticed Rickie Lee Jones first album and my ex-wife 30 years ago for the very first time - Rickie Lee's music is still with me! And I replaced my marriage-picture with a picture of Rickie and me after her Austrian concert! She's the best one!!!!!!!
Old music, old song, beautiful lady, beautiful song. Exceptional voice and deep understanding of musical notes and emotional delivery. Still sounds so good so maybe all this means...timeless!
totally frustrated, because she had never performed in Austria, I requested her tourmanager last year to send her to my homecountry...one day later he replied: "let's see what I can do for you..", one week later I received an e-mail (while I was on a holiday 2000 mles away from my home), informing me that he had organized two concerts - I booked the next flight home and was sitting first row in both concerts - and after the second concert she signed my MFSL vinyl - the greatest moment in my life

Cant wait to see you at Nelson Ledges in Ohio. Awesome tune! Bought the album the week it came out. What was that, mid 80s? You helped me grow up. Years ago......Took me away. And still do. ********* is the s**t too! Love you ****! DONT PLAY WITH YOUR SHOE! PLEASE DO NOT MENTION THE NAME OF THE SHOW OR THE HOST!!!!!!
She is such a powerful musician. You can feel every emotion though her vocals. Grew up this music, and it helps bridge the gaps between the different generations of music lovers.
RLJ remains somewhat underappreciated by the general public, but her music will endure, because she is utterly distinctive and of a caliber far above almost all the rest. I'm glad to find this here.
Totally mesmerizing performance! I've lost count at how many times I've watched this clip. It' so good it's unreal.... This is Rickie in her prime - original, funny, intensely musical and always making the song she singing sort of... her own. Thank you so much for uploading this. Needless to say I''ve added this to my favourites!
So true, so lyrical, so sensitive and strong at the same time. So personal, escaping the usual conventions. It is the fate of the real great artists. Thx so much Rickie
Wow! I cheered when the realization of what song she was actually starting to play hit me. Precise, beautiful, baddass and gentle -- a difficult song to pull off and she nails it. What a treat! Thanks for uploading.
I agree. The first 3 albums are a must!!! She also has a mini album called "A Girl at Her Volcano." It was released between "Pirates" and "Magazine. It has some live performances from a concert at Perkins Palace @ 1980. I might have the year wrong. That was the first time I saw Rickie. I gave her my gold cross. She probably thought I was a Jesus freak......lol.
i`m not sure if i would like this song as much without the video but Rickie`s intensity makes it compelling viewing and a really good song. I also think this was Rickie at her prettiest .
I've seen Rickie live back then during The Magazine Tour and recently and her voice is as strong and soulful and beautiful as it always was. She is magical.
alive - few people as alive as rickie - intensely living each and every word and note that she's singing - and giving so much !... - seen her twice in france - i'm a lucky man !
Your video has been here for 4 years thank God. I just now found it. I am so glad you posted this. I love her and this. Screw the dang record companies. Selfesh people they are.
Why have I been unable to excavate this treasure video of RLJ's from UA-cam ocean so long, even though it was uploaded in 2006? What have I been doing these 13 years? Thanks for sharing this video.
Thank you so much for sharing. Good memories of seeing her live at Humphrey's Half Moon. If any one has her live on the same show -years later- doing Weasel and the White Boys Cool, please upload.
Thank you so much for sharing that. She is the very best and the new album rocks! And I'm an atheist. She can sing anything and no one writes like Rickie.
Thanks for posting this..Everytime she does one of her songs its great to see how she changes or sings the lyrics differently.. thanks, loved this... flag boy let 'em come!
a very beautiful and nervous recluse, on her first tv show after saturday night live two or three years before. love her teeth. that whisper, that vulnerability, and that strength. and sexual. and sooo shy.
So glad you posted this. This was one of those songs that was just so amazing and beautiful that it just stopped me dead in my tracks to listen. The only other song that ever did that to me was "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" off LZ1. Went out and bought both albums the next day. Been a Rickie fan ever since. Amazing voice & lyrics. Wish I knew what the date of this was though... ? ? 84...
Not only can you see what she was to all fans but you see her style copied through out time. I like that because it doesn't seem like a copy but a tribute to a land mark musician. You know when a human being comes in to the world and stands out like a flag waving saying look listen and enjoy.
absolutely spectacular. incredible song. performance is so raw and beautiful. she is one of the best.
One of the most uniquely talented, special artists , that ever will be. This is a beautiful and heartfelt performance. So unique !
She never caught on by the masses just the real people who know talent- like Van Gogh - she will be loved
only time i ever cried at a concert was seeing her sing Company. many years ago. this woman is amazing
Shit, Company makes me cry when I play it on guitar for a practice. I stopped doing that and moved onto AC/DC.. Easier..
It should stay up as long as nobody mentions the name of the show, or the network it was on.
She will always be my loved one-you can't help falling for her.

RLJ knows how to lyricize a story delivered in coos, whispers, rises and shudders.....i will always love her...
This is awesome ... absolutely brilliant.
The song and album are outstanding

ThankYou for posting. Magazine & The Tour are so Pure of Heart, the tour magic performance art. Wish there was more documentation of the tour.
Rickie, you are awesome!
Genius
The influence of Laura Nyro coming through loud and clear.
In every note. Laura was on another level.
I remember playing this for some friends on a fishing trip. One said "that was a powerful performance"
Superb album with superb musicianship and sounds stunning on vinyl.
Beautiful girl, mind, artist. I've been crazy about her forever.
Superb document. What a voice !

Chills down my spine, every time...
Genius woman... An artist's artist!
8 people don't know what it's like to hear a true artist sing without auto tune.
ANOTHER LUCKY PERSON! I'm so jealous of all you guys. I'd sure love to see her.
I feel
as if
I just saw a
very talented
soul
performing, completely
naked... & it was
beautiful.

I can tell you. That got right into my little heart! Stunned.
Glad to make it available, and by doing so, bringing joy to people I've never even met. Few opportunities in life like that.
Thank you for bringing back such vivid memories 🙏
Awesome to enjoy real talent and artistry. LOVE RIcky Lee!
I've seen Rickie live back then during The Magazine Tour and recently and her voice is as strong and soulful and beautiful as it always was. She is magical.

Words just come up short everytime! Either people get it or they don't. Thank you soooo much for the post!!!!
I should say, Perkins Palace was the first time I saw Rickie live. The first time I saw Rickie was in 1979 on Saturday Night Live.
Thank you so much for sharing. Good memories of seeing her live at Humphrey's Half Moon. If any one has her live on the same show -years later- doing Weasel and the White Boys Cool, please upload.

She is great. Please help me find her version of "COOLESVILLE" I love the way she does that song cant find it on here anywhere.
mesmerizing...some much to love here...her West Side Story...
Voice.Passion.Night soul.
What's the problem with some of you people. Dave was fine. Rickie was fine. I swear, people just look for reasons to criticize. Just enjoy it.
Wow. Stunning.
Hi Man, Rickie is a personal Passion !
Perfect 🌟✨
this was a stunning album.
If you ever have an opportunity to see her live.....do!
talent !!!
The Unsigned Painting/The Weird Beast from the Magazine album is my favourite RLJ track... poignant, passion, intimate... just great.
Good match. I could definitely see them covering some of each others songs and doing them justice.
Grazie Rickie

so good to see footage from the earlier days...thanks for posting...i would love to see footage from her first tour. Does anyone know if any exists?
love you rickie
I'd be happier with my interview, a gazillion years later, if I was Rickie rather than David.
Sublime!
And I can't come out and play patty-cake with the 9th precinct boys no more. But you and me baby we'll be lovers again!! Musically Magic

she is the man!!!!
everything's coming alive!
i love her so f'ing much!
i might get her new CD tomorrow
is it as great as so many people are saying?
....closer to the skies
the thing is that she sings with her heart. How many pop singers (not that I would call her one) can you say that about?
NO 1!
she is the best - really
