You sir are an absolute legend! I ended up taking mine apart by mistake like an idiot after a nail jammed. At that time I didn't know how to do it correctly. As such I took too much apart. I would never have been able to put it together again and the bit at 15:40 was critical. All put back together and working again. I am so grateful, thank you.
This seems to be a common mistake. This same thing happened to me today for the same reason.
Thank you. You saved me hours of trying to get it working properly 👍
Thanks for your tutorial. You might have saved my sons pasload from the rubbish bin . Cheers, Jim.
Thanks for the great video, Dave. I took my 350 apart a few days ago and LOST the bar/follower lockout SPRING. Thanks to your video, I now know how to insert that spring. I cheated by using a BALL POINT PEN SPRING instead of buying a new one, it works!
Hi Denny, im glad i could be of help, and thats a good idea thanks for shearing that with us
Thanks Dude. I took mine apart and then had to wait 3 weeks for parts. Forgot how it went back together. All better now!
Same as,I live in Ireland, finding it hard to get parts, any recommendations for online sites?
Thanks for the great tutorial David. I bought a 2nd hand Paslode at what I thought was a "bargain" as it was firing intermittently. I figured it just needed a cleaning/oiling service and I confidently stripped it down following another professional you tubers instructions and of course it wouldnt fire at all when I got it back together.
Did this a few times and gave up thinking the electric or some vital part was broken. So my "bargain" proved to be an exensive dud.
However was inspired to try again after watching your detailed procedure and instructions. And voila!!! Its working perfectly. You are a legend !
I got a bit carried away nailing things around the place so I'll need to work out how to separate some stuff. Those nails sure hold well.
This video saved my but! The paslode isn’t mine and I got a nasty mail jam where I had to take the tool apart. Thank you so much for putting this video together. It saved my butt when I had to assemble it. And the tool isn’t mine either. Thank you
Same as Matthew Brulla, I would never have found where the small spring went. Great video thanks
I had my head in my hands when all the bits flew everywhere dismantling after a jam, now all back together, thanks! Great video.
Your welcome Freddie glad to be of some help
Thanks Dave, had a misfiring IM350 for ages, followed all your steps to give it a real deep clean but was gutted when it still continued to misfire. But by watching your video I only realised there was the second o ring, so after replacing both, the gun nail fires perfectly. Thanks very much for posting such a comprehensive video.
Thanks Gary glad it helped, when you say you replaced the two O rings did you mean the piston rings?
No I just replaced the o ring on the outside of the chamber and the one by the fan. Should I replace the piston rings while I’m at it?
Thanks
Gary
@@Edge-ir8tb if you can feel any piston slap then yes, push the piston up to the top and with one finger pressed on top see if it feels loose if not No its £25 to buy them as they are sold individually for some strange reason
@@dmgladden Thanks for the advice. Gary
Thank you so much! I was stopped at the part you told me you would spend hours figuring it out. Really really grateful and thanks so much again for such a informative video.
Loved it all these years later. Thanks
I did the slide like when you copped it for the nail it just helped hold it together I did it a bit earlier I worked out well
You, my friend, are a lifesaver. That spring was bound to be the death of me. Wasn't sure where it actually fit - and the diagram was all but no help. Wish this were in full HD, but even so - hugely appreciate you posting it!
Thank you, if in return you want to buy me a drink or help support my channel click here www.solwayplumbers.co.uk/donate_37.html
You sir are a genius! I hastily stripped mine down to clear a jammed nail, and once separated a load of bits fell out! Good to about the small spring as mine fell out and never noticed. Also for the life of me, do you think that I could work out how to refit the chamber lock bar? Now I know next time it's simply a case of undoing the two screws securing the chamber to the handle.
Excellent tutorial, thank you. The handle reassembly was a nightmare until I found & viewed this!
great video bud many thanks , this convinced me to know a "spares repairs " gun for £50 and a service sorted it and i didn't even need to buy anything . happy days ! Many thanks David.
That's what it's all about David amazing what you can do with a bit of know-how, thanks for watching
1 hour breakdown and service instead of 4 hours after your video, thank you so much.
Thank you so much!!! That lockout spring was confounding me before I found your video. It popped out while I was disassembling to clear a jam and I couldn't figure out where it went. Just in case anyone else is curious, I have the IMCT model (900420) and your instructions worked perfectly for it. Thank you again!!!
Hi Jonathan glad I could and thank you for the Donation
I came here for the exact same reason! Bloody life saver David
Great video. Many thanks. The local tool shop couldn’t repair coz they couldn’t buy new original part. I bought from ebay, followed your video and saved myself about £150. Thanks again. I see others have options to support/tip content producers - you might consider making it easy for us to make a donation. Thanks again 🍻
Hi James thanks for the comment i haven't heard of this option but i do have a link in my comments that is for this perpose its:

Great video, I followed it and it works great. One thing missing - My piston bumper was destroyed and you stopped short of stripping the gun right there. Other than that - Perfect!
Spot on video pal, had an intermittent problem of not firing, it was that tiny spring on the nail stop! Had become misplaced! Nearly lost it on the floor too.
Yes! Finally found this! U are a hero Sir!
Legend, managed to get my gun working again
I went a little further and popped the circlip out of the end of the piston and clean the piston rings along with the rubber buffer. You can use a Torx key to remove the exhaust valve. Must treat with care and not bend any of the valve flaps. I put the valve flap on a very flat surface and ran the edge of a Stanley blade across the top and bottom to scrape the exhaust crud off, with help from some WD40. I think a cruddy exhaust flap was preventing the pressure build up and not getting proper explosion. Worked AMAZINGLY afterwards!!!
I’ve gotta say it’s better than sleeping on the floor
Very helpful. It’s great that you have taken the time and such care to help us all.
You’re right about the spring it’s a real pain had to look for it about four times well I’ll try and put it together and nothing would fall out until I found the best way of doing it very well organise is the only way so after feeling with that for two hours took two hours because I kept losing the spring Flicking out at one point I’ve got a spring from the Hand wash is a little big I think one out of a smaller bottle like a small bottle of sprite to clean your glasses it will probably work but you know what happen I was gonna use that spring was gonna try and then I had to cut it a little bit so short on it and it flipped off right next to the other spoon so I had to go pick it up how lucky is that
Had a bad nail jam the other day, this helped putting it back together. Cheers
Thanks Dave you’re star needed to put my gun back together and I did with your help 👌👍👍🙏
Got an old paslode impulse for parts and dismantled it, whoth out knowing any thing bout it, a few bits left over but thanks to you it's up and going. Thank you very much
Your welcome and thanks for watching
A superb video that has saved me so much time! Thank you
Thanks for saving my nail gun! Such a useful video, thanks!
Brilliant vid mate. Life saver
When my lockout bar and spring fell out when I was servicing my gun I thought I was fucked after seeing this vid. All sorted 👌🏼👌🏼
This is why I post videos to help as best I can as I know what it's like to be stuck and the only way out is a big bill. Thanks for watching.
Great video. It will be helpful when putting together every part, you could zoom in, so that we can have better look.
Had to make a repair and couldn't have done it without this video. Thanks!
That's good I'm glad it helped and thanks for watching
Thank you for the video. Having trouble with my gun, but now feel confident about a complete breakdown clean and troubleshooting. God bless
Your welcome Chris that's what it's all about helping each other, good luck
Thank you. You just saved my paslode.
Awesome almost done I think I need a new slider but I bent it back in place I think you’ll be okay
Brilliant. Solved my problem. Just what the internet is for . Thank you
nice one mate very helpful. all the best
Sincere thanks for such a detailed and straight forward tutorial:>)
That was an awesome video thank you very much. I put everything back together and the thing won't even turn on. I take the 2 pieces apart and put the battery in and it works. I put it back together and it doesn't. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Extreme tear-down. As Uncle Bumblefack says, "Springin' and a sproingin'." I am never afraid of getting something back together but the parts that don't have a obvious orientation or locators are a bit of a worry.
Yes and this tool as a few of them thats why i thought it would be a great help to some people
Thank you sir! Life saver. I can't believe it's the only way to put it back together. I hate that little spring so much! Haha
Good video David. Only missing thing I can't find from any video or text is the piston and drive pin removal inspection and trouble shooting. I believe there is a bumper in front of the piston to keep it from bottoming out. Can you show this piston in a video? Thanks.
Brilliant thanks nailer back up and running!
That was excellent. Done perfect.
Thankyou champion
Thank you for the video, it was very helpful and just what I needed.
I definitely messed up by not pulling all 4 nose guide screws and loosing the spring pin for the nail slide. Now I have to push the slide mech apart to unwind the flat spring,,, without breaking it.
Any suggestions David?
David, firstly thank you for making this video as it gave me the confidence to disassemble my IM350 to look for a fault as it wouldn't fire. fault was found with a damaged follower of which i replaced successfully.
While i had the gun totally stripped down i decided to give it a full service which went well.
When fully reassembled i tested the gun it fired the first three nails fine then appeared to jam, after dissembling and reassembling a few times i noticed that the gas cover lid is rising when the upper and lower probe is depressed, it will fire however the fan will keep running until i press the lid back down.
Have you any idea what is causing this? Found the problem little bit of lubricant required. Working as new now.
Great video David just one thing my follower has broken ordered a new one but can't workout how to get it off the button any idea thanks
Yeah great video mate perfect very clear very easy to understand I’m a chippy to thanks for the video awesome👍
could you please advise where you bought that screwdriver set? thanks
Yeah I haven’t got time to order new parts so where will I get a spring from that’s roughly the right size I’ll tell you where you go to your soap pumps and you take out the pump and you break the pump and there’s a spring inside their difference so pumps will have different side springs for thought I throw away my soap sometimes I break them out and get the springs I’ve paid for that spring
That`s the best of the best tutorials!!! May be you have another video where some diagnostic tips are subjected, please? It would be more that vital to have an idea with what to test in case if any common faults. As an example, how to understand whether the ignition coil is good enough? As you stated, this part is expensive. Is that possible to check it with a multimeter or with any smart tricks before replacement? Thank you
Very thorough and neat.Thanks
Dave excellent video. I have cleaned the gun but it won't fire. checked the spark and the fan running with the main body off, fan runs and spark fires when spring to microswitch engaged. Any ideas?
Fully charge the battery and try again
Cheers mate really helped out!! Top charvey my boy
Great video mate. Thanks for the help
Brilliant video but doesn’t show the bit I’m struggling with ... how do you get the button back together ? I have tried many times and isn’t 100%
Did you know King chrome has a great Alan said they’re like screwdrivers and I’ve gotta say I’ve even use a snap on screwdrivers and they’re good but the king chrome ones take the cake out awesome they fit perfectly the magnet works very well on the end very well no trouble there it’s just a screwdriver set mate right there so fine they’re very nice I think for eight piece roughly about 100 bucks Australian worth every penny he won’t look back
Great video, is it normal for the gas cover to lift slightly when pushing to fire nails
Hi Vincent thanks and yes that's very normal
I mean a better quality camera because like you can’t see what screws what like if you could hold the screw up so you can see the screw make a little bit easier like it’s easy to work out but you know what I think for a couple of minutes
thankyou so much for this video . you have saved us heaps
I was having trouble with my slide bar it was a bit bent and I straightened it out so it slides without grabbing because it was grabbing and I’m pretty sure it’s missing a spring that’s why it wasn’t springing back I’d have to pull it back by hand so annoying especially when you’re doing overhead shots
Great video. No nonsense and wasting time (which we all know isn’t always the case!). I have a 900420 and the o ring near the fan broke in a weird way where (and this happened twice) the o ring broke in two places in exactly the same way - twice! I can’t figure out why. Also the motor works and yet it won’t fire. Maybe that part that actuates the spark? I was hoping you would show something about the small chamber above the fan which is where the gas goes but you can’t cover everything, it’s just my particular issue atm. Anyway, thanks for the helpful info. I’ll be subscribing.
Hi Dave. Brilliant video.
Have had one on loan from a friend for a few months. Went to use it today, fully charged battery, gas a bit old but managed to few a handful of nails then it started cycling for ages so I just pulled the battery.
Stripped it and cleaned as per original instructions.
The microswitch doesn't click on his IM350 and I think that is strange. Is this normal? I appreciate the wheel can wear out.
I checked for continuity at the connector on the circuit board behind the fan with the switch pressed but there is no continuity. Should there be? The microswitch presumably creates a circuit for the fan to run when the nose of the gun is pressed against something. The trigger presumably then just discharges the ignition circuit.
Any ideas please?
What allen and hex key set is that you have? Very informative video by the way. I'm still stuck with a broken im350. Press the nose and the fan works, had a full dismantle and clean, but press the trigger and it dies. Can't find any info online for it. Pin is dead straight and slides freely, gun is spotless and oiled correctly, o ring is seated properly and new, battery and gas work in another 350
The set is one from Aldi very usfull bit of kit, as for your gun i have to say i only know what i workout whenbtrying to fix a tool of my own ibtgen pass that nugget on to help others but i cant think what can be wrong with yours sorry i guess just keep trying things till you crack it thats what i do
@@dmgladden I don't give up. I have a spare I can take parts from. Just means full strip and dismantle just to pull the trigger once and try
Thanks heaps for the demo
I found the loading spring was missing
Rgds Ross
I’ll give it another go if not I’ll take it into the shop but thank you so much I know I’m pretty close
I’ve got it all together but you’re not getting that suction sound the green lights on I’m still having the same problem with the front bumper it pulls in but doesn’t pull out the springs are in I’ve just rebuilt it I’m not too sure have to pull it apart again I guess
Very nice vid thanks.. to replace spring the follower button punches out from inside
Thanks so much for these great informative videos. I'm trying to service an old IM350 CT90 and having trouble removing the Retainer Ring Sleve (part 73). It is being fouled by the heads of the Bushing Shear Bush (part 63) which hold the Socket Head Capscrews (part 62). On your videos they seem to just fall out but mine are stuck. I've tried gently to drift them out but don't want to hit them too hard. Should they come out easily or is there another way to slip the Ring Sleeve past them to enable the cylinder mechanism to slide out of the plastic cover?
Hi To be honest im no expert but it seems to me they should just come out easy so i would persevere you will get there
But nothing major great job there’s quite a few videos and I picked yours to learn so thank you so much great job
How to check if the spark is present if the gun won’t fire?
David have you done a tutorial on the 2nd fix one the 16 guage one is it the im65?
Hi Ste, no i haven't but the principle is the same just video yourself when taking it apart and you should have know trouble, but going by what you said I would first replace the piston rings as it sounds like that's the issues and if not it's a good thing to do anyway but give that a try and let me know
Hj Dave just seen vid I have a Hitachi NRG90C2 its had little use probably just fired two boxes of nails at most now it wont fire any nails at all all the sounds are there any advise would be greatly appreciated
Regards Sreve
I bought a 350 from a pawn shop and it is not firing the nails. I can hear the fan and the green light comes on. Watching your video could it be the igniter.
mine does not depress enough to engage the switch that starts the fan. Have taken it apart and cleaned it and checked all settings but nothing changes. The aluminum body does not go high enough to touch the switch. not up to the window where the roller of the switch sticks out of.
I just bought 2 of these guns I've bought 2 service kits they have 2 rubber o rings I know there one goes on cylinder head where does other one go
Hi David what clener do you use is it the gt 85 on the bench
Hi yes gt85 is good I also use paslodes own but it's not as cheep so minimal
Thanks for the video. Sure makes it less intimidating to have a go.
You save my life buddy
Hi, I have purchased a new top O ring but I find that it is very loose fitting. Should it be tight fitting.
Many thank.
I yes I only got one I'm not sure but I guess add a bit of grease should help
Hi Dave, thanks for the video.
I have totally stripped the unit, including removal of the piston, and cleaning of the reed valve, and it still occasionally fires. New fuel , charged battery, all cleaned and oiled. Fan works, and spark fires every time when spark plug exposed and micro switch wheel depressed.
What else would cause a failure to operate?
What causes the piston to return to the top position?
You've got me on this one, if the gun is worth it to you I would take it to have it checked out it is possibly compression but can't be sure
Thanks Dave, I just spoke to a technical support mechanic at Paslode. Very helpful. He explained that the Reed valves close after the explosive compression, and the gasses remaining in the combustion chamber cool with the fan running,, and the resulting partial vacuum draws the piston back up.
Also the head piston O ring is supposed to be a bit loose in the groove. This allows the ring to be properly compressed when in the firing position. Important to assemble the head to the body with the small side screws loose, and the combustion chamber and head engaged before tightening the four head bolts to ensure proper alignment.
All makes sense to me.
At some point i span the pistin round, which way would be correct? Theres a slope cut into one side where the hammer part would meet the nail!
Sorry mate I'm no engineer I just show me doing mine i would imagine there will be a logical way but you need to be looking at it to work that out, sorry I can't be more helpful
Mate so helpful that video. Cheers pal
Okay I’m up to there all good I put the battery in the light goes on no problem I flicked the switch up to top the fan turns on when I put it together the front and then I put a battery in it it’s like to trigger seized a little bit and the fan doesn’t turn on I’m just thinking it’s a stopper arms they must be in the wrong place and not tweak the triggering in the We’ll that triggers the fan so it’s just a switch I think I need to replace that I mean I’ve had to straighten it is pretty bent it’s probably copped a couple of drops missing the Nail bag with the Hook
My fan stays on. Any ideas? Checked switch mechanism and replaced moulded circuit board and still have the issue.
Sorry never came accross this one
The spring has snapped that pushes nails through is that easy fixed
Hi yes it's an easy fix but I don't know the cost to buy one sorry
Thanks mate... you saved me hundreds !!
Your welcome Christian, maybe you'd like to help support my channel in return the links on my channel
Hi just watched your video exerlent, just struggling with mine , got it stripped down ,there no gas in .When you put the battery in the fan starts straight away without pressing any buttons,if you put the battery in nothing happens, till you press the switch near the fan body ,then it starts up up again ,can only stop it by pulling battery out , any ideas would be great . Many thanks Dave Hale
Hi Dave thanks for watching my video, unfortunately in this case I can be of any help I have never come across that one before but I would be opening it and checking that the switch inside is not being jammed or shorting or something like that
@@dmgladden Many thanks Dave you was right ,switch jamming, just before I build up this gun ,is there anyway to test if it’s sparking
hello david, friend can you help me i have a gun turn on i grab all its function but it won't throw the nail you know what can be?
I’ve learnt heaps like other videos I went had a rebuild guitars okay to do the Floyd rose and all that I was sick at one stage so I had heaps of time I’m better now so I’m working I’ve gotta start playing guitar and training but I had to stop and sort my investments out it’s important half I’m not financially stable I can’t like guitar I’ll build guitars I’ll train because I need a lot of time
You didn’t clean the exhaust holes under cover plate on side .. it gets real dirty and can also cause misfiring 👍🏼👌
And how much spring would cost
And a bit of lube on the ring I did some on the seal as well for the other part but on the ring it’s not really a sale just giving you some tips because I had to watch it a few times because you said a seal but you didn’t mean to say are you meant to ring
Thanks I’m going to get a service kit and give it ago and sell the old boy as I just got the new Im360 can you tell me if it’s the same steps for the im360 or will have to try and catch another video for it many thanks
Hi and thanks for the comments, to be honest i haven't got the 360 yet as mine is still doing such a great job, but as it so new you shouldn't need to work on it yet.
David Gladden they say every 15000 nails and their is a light that shows up when it’s time moving up in the world 😂😂
Hi, thank you for the video. I have a problem with my gun that the firing pin will not return. I shoots one nail and the I have to push the pin back. Any ideas please.

If it's been fully cleaned then the pin might be distorted
