I just want to add a few notes to this setup for those too lazy to read the documentation: this is an all-or-nothing transmission medium. Messages sent via Rattlegram will either be delivered perfectly or not at all. E.g. you will never send "hi there" and receive "hy xhere". It will simply fail to send if your audio quality or transmission signal are weak/interfered with. You also do not need cables, you can simply play the audio through your phone's speaker while holding transmit on a radio, and on the receiving end just have the app open. Obviously using cables is quieter for sending and receiving, but it's an option. Your phone's speaker is perfectly capable of sending this without issue. Additionally this is not encrypted, anyone with the app can read your messages. However, nothing is stopping you from using coded language or actual ciphertext if you have a pre-arranged encryption scheme before separating. And yes, it doesn't require internet or anything else, it's just converting text into digital noise in a format rattlegram understands.
riiiiight. But no cables isn't silent, and it's super annoying/ impractical to use. You could just station an old device with a cheap radio somewhere in the shop, this way.

Or you could just set up a Lora network in the unregulated band with end to end encryption using meshtastic or ripple

i doubt it.. Just getting into ATAK... but this uses audio.
I don't think there is a way to use ATAK with this setup but I have seen ATAK used with meshtastic. If I'm remembering correctly you had to use a specific version of ATAK.
