Such an underrated game. I don't know why some people hate the combat system. I think it's fun and challenging. Too bad they cancelled Mirror's Edge franchise.
It is underrated because EA gave two shits about good development. Everything in this game was half baked and average at best. The combat is not challenging at all, it is just pure button mashing and missing intelligent choices like in the first game. There you were told to isolate the enemies by using the environment wisely and taking down enemy after enemy. And here you have a nasty exploit where kicking enemies in the back will force them into a loop since you can interrupt their animation and trap them in it. Works for every enemy and skips combat completely. Bet they didn't fix that up to this day.
I've played mirrors edge catalyst for so many years and not once have I ever seen a finisher that wasn't part of a cutscene. I've only used chain attacks or normal attacks to knockout KrugerSec. If this isn't a mod, my mind is blown and I'm gonna go play it again.

While the "takedowns in free roam" mod does make combat a lot more cinematic, it does take away certain move sets and finishers (most notably the regular attacks and less frequent chain attacks) from being used on enemies with low heath, to put it simply, where takedowns never happened at all, they now happen all too often meaning while I do love the combat in this game it does get repetitive seeing the same takedowns preformed, when I just wanted to kick a guy over a railing. Personally I think In order for this to work both ways where I get the cinematic takedown that make me feel like a badass, while also not being repetitive, someone should make a mod in which you can set a certain percentage, to limit or enhance the chances of a takedown being performed on an enemy. So if someone who makes mods and has for this game is reading this, already knows a mod like this that has been made... Let me know. pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaseeeeeee🙏

I loved this reboot of the original. Its so good, man. Still worth playing today, the single-player-only stuff is still awesome. The fact that Faith Conners is so damn good at ass-whooping always makes me chuckle.
And some streamers say this game has very bad combat and slow down gameflow and momentum, yet we can do all of this and even while running, so i dont know what streamers are talking about, fights are very smooth and fluid and has momentum within it, and mirror edge would get boring fast without the fights in the game
But how do you do that? I only saw maybe 3-5 types of chain attacks and never seen others from the video. I tried to input a move direction or movr my camera before/during the attack but I always get same chain attacks. Could it be PC exclusively?
Man I've like 50h of playtime and I loved everything. Catalyst and ME are both great. I love ME a bit more but MEC is one of the best looking and most relaxing games I've ever played. And no doubt, Faith in MEC is the best. ME, MEC were incredibly creative and unique, something none of the recent games can hope to be.

How to perform enforcer chain light attack 1?on ps4 the animation starts from where you grab the hand and move it around. Also on the sentinel you can make an attack where he hits his head on a wall and the helmet breaks.
late reply but if you have the vanilla game just dont get the intel upgrades for any of the enemies so you can do more attack animations. For PC, there are mods for “tougher enemies” that make them last longer and you can do more uncommon string attacks you wouldn’t normally see. Hope that helps!
In the 1st chain light attack on the enforcer, how the hell did you lay 5 hits on him? I tried doing that without any upgrades but got only 4, it was the same animation. I did have positional advantage but I dont think that increases overall damage.
I just realized mirrors edge is a beloved series with a strong female protagonist. That has NOTHING to do with feminism yet has done more for feminism than modern feminists.

I bet my ass that up to this day they didn't fix the exploit that you can defeat every enemy by kicking their back and interrupting their animation by kicking them again, forcing them into a loop where they can't get out of it anymore. At least the combat system in the old games used tactics like isolating the enemies and a smart environment to do so.
Imagine throwing a lighting bolt after a heavy 4-5 piece combo as storm.. then switching the camera to third person… (that cover system though) 😮💨🫠marvel..
Looks like I’ll wait until the Father DLC is released so all the new takedowns are included. Also trying to make it in a way that UA-cam wont restrict it.

A finishing animation is ALWAYS shown in the first mission of ME:C. It’s against the first enemy - Which is a guardian/light melee.
None of these are mods… I’ve always had a difficult time triggering them but they do happen

You missed one. When sentinel is doing a running attack on you, you can time "switch places" and counter-attack.

yes, its an Easter egg only worked in a specific spot.
