A lot of people know about this game. It was a huge deal back in 2008. Granted, its popularity didn't last long because it's a singleplayer campaign game, but most adult gamers would know about it if you brought it up.
To me, Mirror's Edge is a meaning of freedom, pureness, no violence, no fear. The feeling you get is freedom, cuz you're there, running like you were flying like a free bird. Just imagine Faith, and then you're there, staring at that beautiful City with stunning blue sky with the wind blowing in your face. Nothing can't stand in your way, running can be a way to face our fears and enemies, but there will be times that you'll have to stop running and face them using your own hands. That is the best example for a epic game like Mirror's Edge.

In the late 2000s, a studio mostly known for shooters decides to try something different, and makes a short game about a young woman trapped in a white, spotless, suspiciously perfect world. Over the course of the game, the protagonist finds the seams on the edge of this world and ends up tearing it apart. And the song that plays during the credits, "Still Alive", is a banger that I still listen to to this day. Portal was such a good game.
Portal was fun, but the best game ive ever touched till this day is mirrors edge. Only commie authoritarians hate it. Screw the internationalist class, screw the bankers, and screw govt regulations over free men, that's the takeaway. Based AF
I remember my brother getting me this game back when I was in high school. He had walked from his apartment in town and we went to the movie gallery, and he rented this game for me and I just never gave it back cause I loved it so much, paid the overdue fee and eventually just owned it lol. He passed away in May of 2019 and now whenever I think of Mirror's Edge, I remember him and showing him how awesome this parkour game for the 360 was and us playing it together. I haven't played it since then really, but I still listen to this amazing theme song sometimes and it brings tears to my eyes.. Love ya big bro!! Miss you brother man
2023 checking in! It’s crazy how I was at work and the sun shined on me as I walked through the outside buildings and this menu music just started playing in my head… I instantly became nostalgic and remembered a life that was about school, friends, hanging out and just being chill and playing great games! Times have changed for better and for worse but we gotta keep our heads up and push forward… Much Love & Peace, Doc
4:18 the way the singer sings... It's very quiet but listen for it. She's 'oooing' I think. It's angelic. Heavenly. So beautiful. It needs to be louder, but the music is too loud for when she does that.
When playing this game, it feels like playing something from 2013, and I can't believe how old this game already is. Almost over 5 years this game kept beating the shit out of other games. Can't wait for the next Mirror's Edge!
Garik Bayok The Mod is ENB, it is very very popular among Skyrim Modders. On the Site enbdev.com/ there is a generic Version, which happens to also work for ME. You can inject Anisotropy and some effects with it. You could also try SweetFX
If that happens, it gets banned in China, Russia, and most of the West given some time, which would probably make it even *more* popular. You think a lot of the story was written but never published? Like with November and all that, mostly just seems like you see a single billboard describing it and that's it. Would be really curious to read up the rest of it if that was the case.

I mostly agree to that statement. In those times the games had great storylines, fantastic storylines and etc. Now there are games like Call Of Duty with okay storylines, but nobody that plays it ever plays the game for the storyline, they just like killing people in multiplayer. However, there still are alot of other great games out there that are made in 2013-2015. Like the Assassin's Creed series, and the Grand Theft Auto series.
This song was stuck in my head for literal YEARS without me knowing what it was. Now I finally remember sitting and watching my brother playing this game when I was younger. Good days.
I'm listening to this 5 minutes before Mirrors Edge Catalyst is playable on my PS4. When it finishes, the game will be ready. Holy shitting fuckballs the hype is insane and the nostalgia is a bit much... What? Nah bro I'm not crying, my eyes like being wet
My uncle who passed away was a huge fan of these hidden gem type of games. He introduced me to the metal gear solid series as well as this and many others that remind me of him.
Although I've only played the demo on the Xbox 360 I've played it dozens of times and everytime you beat it this song plays at the end with a trailer of the full game. The song always made me stay and watch the full thing, I just couldn't pass it. Some years later I ended up getting mirror's edge catalyst on the PS4 and loved it.
The editting in the video is superb. It truly captures the mood of the game, and all of the plot twists involved. And for the game itself, i highly recommend it, 9/10.
I can't believe Mirror's Edge is this old! 2008 my gosh time is ballin. That game is so much better than the games being released on PS4 and Xbone right now and its almost Feb 2016!
The feelings I get watching this, thinking about the kid I was back then, thinking about how now I have kids of my own, all the things I've done, seen, felt, makes me think of a classic line from Mad Men: “Nostalgia - its delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek nostalgia literally means “the pain from an old wound.” It’s a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn’t a spaceship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards… it takes us to a place where we ache to go again..." I find that year by year, that distant pang in my heart of the past grows, just a little bit. Much like the bright, pristine city displayed in Mirrors Edge, so do my memories feel surrounded by the bright, warm, haze that only time can provide. I wonder if this feeling will diminish as new memories overtake the old ones, and these memories that I feel so strongly now will cease to garner these feelings. I think I'll have to come back in another ten years to find out.
I don't think I will ever stop playing Mirror's Edge. I cried playing Catalyst the first time and beating the game. I came across a remix of this song and it made me tear up just thinking about Faith and their story.
14 years later i want to say thank you, seeing this old animation lit up smth somewhere in my brain, make me happy these old ps3 games are still a a part of me somewhere deep in my mind :)
People here are writing sad things, that they had a better life before. Solution: first, be grateful for the time you had and have hope for the future that these times will comeback (that you will be having the same fun). THE MOST IMPORT THINGS: be creative minimum 1 or 2 hours a day and spend time outside in nature with physical activities like playing footbal (even better with firends), and other basics of life like 8-10 hours of sleep, relaxation for example focus on breathing (minimum 5 minutes, 3 times a day). This knowledge is from the book of dr. Shimi Kang (or you can watch her ted talk). Creativity is joy, passion, making better decisions easier, coping with difficult emotions, stress, gaining self confidence, dealing with problems easier, life becomes easier, happier. You can also watch Celeste ted talk about more enjoyable converastion (10 tips) and how not to take things personally ted talk (to develop empathy and calm yourself in social situations). Bring basics of life again!!

To the guy claiming Dying Light is better, how can you compare a 2008 game to a Next Gen game? Come back next year when Mirror's Edge 2 comes out on Next Gen with it's open world Parkour and say that ;)
Tommo Thompson I don't know who made that statement, but they must be joking. Yes, Dying Light has a bigger, open world. But, that's it, really. The parkouring element feels tacked on and is in NO WAY as smooth and responsive as ME's free running system.

This is still such an amazing song. I really haven't listened to this piece of perfection in years. Oh how I miss Mirror's Edge.
The first game and catalyst are amazing
Already been 10 years - won’t ever forget the memories of this game ~ 2019
Now this is real nostalgia
SDDLOL 19 😢
i love mirrors edge. it was fun trying to figure out things. and when your all done with the game, it feels good. this game has a good soundtrack, a good ending and a good feeling while your playing it
Can't believe this song makes me cry rn time flies so fast
srs... 16 years ago... we are getting old bro
Ha ....hahaha i like ur funny words magic man
Portal was fun, but the best game ive ever touched till this day is mirrors edge. Only commie authoritarians hate it. Screw the internationalist class, screw the bankers, and screw govt regulations over free men, that's the takeaway. Based AF
Lmfao that got me 😂
@@ALEXGIBSONCMG 😂 👌
@HoodieSticks Haha nice one
Miss you brother man
Tbh this actually looks like an opening sequence you would find in a game. its part of the reason i love this video.
How down bad was I for this game that I still remember all of these levels more than a decade later
The graphics of this game still hold up pretty well after all these years!
I love both portal and mirrors edge
After like 2 years I came back and THE MEMORIES OMG😭
I was just playing this and this song came to mind❤️
4:18 the way the singer sings... It's very quiet but listen for it. She's 'oooing' I think. It's angelic. Heavenly. So beautiful. It needs to be louder, but the music is too loud for when she does that.
When playing this game, it feels like playing something from 2013, and I can't believe how old this game already is. Almost over 5 years this game kept beating the shit out of other games. Can't wait for the next Mirror's Edge!
Really! I installed the Graphics Mod just an hour ago and it's like a Next Gen Game now. Amazing!
zawzero Hell, that's amazing. Could you tell me from what site you got it from?
Garik Bayok The Mod is ENB, it is very very popular among Skyrim Modders. On the Site enbdev.com/ there is a generic Version, which happens to also work for ME. You can inject Anisotropy and some effects with it. You could also try SweetFX
Illegal Memes Dealer 2013 was when TR reboot first reboot game was released. 13-5=8
2013 was the time were the last best games ever released
wow the feels. this song takes me back to when I discoverd parkour. wonderful time
THIS GAME WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART
This song is oddly calming.
This song still runs in my heart
I really hope that wasn’t a pun
Prediction: this game is only just starting to be appreciated. It's a masterpiece.
@@mr.jamster8414 Unlike China, Russia is very good at pirating games, the second biggest game publishing company there was literally a group of pirates which translate games in late 90's/early 00's.
Only if it has a funny meme, Nowadays early 2010 games started getting popular again such as MGR and Portal 2 because of the memes that appears on internet
@@mr.jamster8414 Wha
Why would it
@@dvoika2 Anti-Government messaging throughout the story. Not sure how China/Russia would deal with a squashed antiestablishment protest. The further things go in the west they wouldn't want it either, but for now, it's a stretch.

@@OvelhaRosa418 Your good. I would just love another Sequel, cause supposedly she had a Son…If I remember correctly.
@@anthonylaspina9524 I didn't beat the game I didn't have the patience because in the sequel there's that damn time that the character needs to run
gaming was better back then in 2007-2012
1999 to 2006 you mean haha
Jack Ralph in the past game companies were worried about quality and in the present they all look for the profit..
they were used to make a lot from none... poor technology.. poor graphics and sounds.. amazing stories..awesome gameplay.
i remember play some games with poor graphics and sounds but deep immersion.. feeling like inside a book.
***** no not really pretty much all companies making AAA titles are shit I can't think of a single aaa title that I wanted to buy in the past 3-4 years
I mostly agree to that statement.
Jack Ralph What's AAA? Anonymous Alcoholics Association?
This song was stuck in my head for literal YEARS without me knowing what it was. Now I finally remember sitting and watching my brother playing this game when I was younger. Good days.
I'm listening to this 5 minutes before Mirrors Edge Catalyst is playable on my PS4. When it finishes, the game will be ready. Holy shitting fuckballs the hype is insane and the nostalgia is a bit much...
What?
Nah bro I'm not crying, my eyes like being wet
😂👌👊
I hope you liked it!
I didn't.
IKR
dude no need to be shy im pretty sure we all are sad
I HATE IT WHEN GAMES END
My uncle who passed away was a huge fan of these hidden gem type of games. He introduced me to the metal gear solid series as well as this and many others that remind me of him.
Wouldn't say it was a hidden gem just underrated.
12 years in my heart...
13 now 🥺
Although I've only played the demo on the Xbox 360 I've played it dozens of times and everytime you beat it this song plays at the end with a trailer of the full game. The song always made me stay and watch the full thing, I just couldn't pass it. Some years later I ended up getting mirror's edge catalyst on the PS4 and loved it.
This game was ahead of its time good memories
We didn't know that we were living in the very best times of gaming the world has ever seen!
This Track is one of my all time favorites!
2021
All I can say is this game means and meant everything to me for a large portion of my life
Over 15 years and this song is still a masterpiece
I don’t know why I’m here after 15 years , much memories and flashbacks with this song
I cant believe how long its been since i first watched this video, take me back
Take me back to the time when I first heard this beautiful song. Lots of memories are attached to it. 😍
2019 August 28th. I missed the memories of this game!!!! Life was so perfect back then :((
This song brings much nostalgia to me.
Mirror's Edge is a freaking master piece, and this song fits so well with the feeling of the game. Can't believe it's been 15 years already
+Jeremiah P May 2016 now :/
comes Mirror's Edge Catalyst and it is gonna be legendary
+moujib kaaboun You mean February?
No
+Jeremiah P Yeah. When I read 2008-'09 I think like it was yesterday, but it's 8 years! fucking time is passing by lol
When I look back at my childhood this song comes to my mind right away, still loving it
The feelings I get watching this, thinking about the kid I was back then, thinking about how now I have kids of my own, all the things I've done, seen, felt, makes me think of a classic line from Mad Men: “Nostalgia - its delicate, but potent.
I felt a really similar sensation to yourself as I read this comment...
Just started playing this again the other day. Randomly thinking of this song was my motivation.
Wow I'm back again 🤣🤣🤣
And again 😂😂😂😂😂
love this song
i am sure you can find a copy of the game somewhere. I think i got my copy for about £6 at CeX
***** £3 in ASDA
Yeah.... i never buy games from asda. Don't ask why
***** It was on sale for cheap on steam recently
I don't buy games on steam either
I don't think I will ever stop playing Mirror's Edge. I cried playing Catalyst the first time and beating the game. I came across a remix of this song and it made me tear up just thinking about Faith and their story.
14 years later i want to say thank you, seeing this old animation lit up smth somewhere in my brain, make me happy these old ps3 games are still a a part of me somewhere deep in my mind :)
Through all the adversity, through the dangers, she is still alive...

Such a beautiful song.
Even thou I never finish the game this song still gets me going throughout the day and reminds me to push forward and don’t stop believing because one wrong step could end up the wrong way
So many memories with Mirror’s Edge, this game was my childhood, the nostalgia ❤ Still Alive beautiful track 🎶🎶🎶🎧🎧🎧
To the guy claiming Dying Light is better, how can you compare a 2008 game to a Next Gen game? Come back next year when Mirror's Edge 2 comes out on Next Gen with it's open world Parkour and say that ;)
Tommo Thompson open world parkour?!
Tommo Thompson I don't know who made that statement, but they must be joking.
Yes, Dying Light has a bigger, open world. But, that's it, really.
The parkouring element feels tacked on and is in NO WAY as smooth and responsive as ME's free running system.
John S Not to mention Mirror's Edge 2 will not let us use guns. Now, some people may not like that...but to me that brings out the TRUE ESSENCE of parkouring and free running.
SavageEclipse Plus its pretty hard to climb while carrying a heavy AR because guns are not particularly light
SCP-049 Agreed Lol. Maybe a pistol if you really want to have a gun. But Nah. Haha.

I'm 33 now 14 years ago I use to have your video on repeat while I ran at night. the video complimented the song. now I pick up the gym once again and this song calls to me. I may not be able to run anymore like I use to but this will help push me to a new world.
Whoever played this on the video is seriously skilled! Awesome job on the video :)
Zoë Na I can do the same and I only got the game a week ago, Its nothing special, you just need to be focused
I finished mirrors edge. And I want to play it again. This song makes me epic
i just can't get over how good this song is

I watched this video in 2010
and now I come back to say
THIS VIDEO IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!
I so wish that there was a free roam mode with no enemies and all the sounds were muted apart from the music. Just listening to this song while running along the rooftops. That would just be amazing
I'm pretty sure that's what Catalyst is gonna be

I hope so.
+VikingPotatoes Turn off the game's sound (in the menu or via the windows sound menu) and put it on yourself ;)
+VikingPotatoes The next ME is free roam.
+VikingPotatoes just go outside with some headphones and this on repeat, learn to freerun by doing it
2023 and I still love this game and this song. It reminds me of when me and my brother had no care in the world just playing this game having fun.
incredible!!!
Lyrics:
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here; "Huge success"
It's hard to overstate
My satisfaction
Aperture Science:
We do what we must
Because we can
For the good of all of us
Except the ones who are dead
But there's no sense crying
Over every mistake
You just keep on trying
Till you run out of cake
And the science gets done
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are
Still alive
I'm not even angry
I'm being so sincere right now
Even though you broke my heart,
And killed me
And tore me to pieces
And threw every piece into a fire
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you
Now, these points of data
Make a beautiful line
And we're out of beta
We're releasing on time
So I'm GLaD I got burned
Think of all the things we learned-
For the people who are
Still alive
Go ahead and leave me
I think I'd prefer to stay inside
Maybe you'll find someone else
To help you?
Maybe Black Mesa?
That was a joke *Haha - Fat Chance*
Anyway this cake is great
It's so delicious and moist
Look at me: still talking
When there's science to do
When I look out there,
It makes me GLaD I'm not you
I've experiments to run
There is research to be done
On the people who are
Still alive
And believe me I am
Still alive
I'm doing science and I'm
Still alive
I feel fantastic and I'm
Still alive
While you're dying I'll be
Still alive
And when you're dead I will be
Still alive
Still alive
The game graphics really held their own. Still looks amazing so many years later
