This is why I like Arno having just one blade. It mixes up the animations and seeing him assassinate two enemies at once with only one blade is a thing of a beauty. He gets so crafty with it.
Exactly, he gets so creative, I've started playing unity again recently along with the dead kings Dlc and honestly after playing odyssey and Valhalla it's very satisfying to get back to playing as an actual assassin with a very stealth based gameplay, my favorite weapons to use is the rifle, the most powerful musket, since I'm mostly In stealth, if I get detected, I like to see him beat them up with the rifle instead of shooting at them XD the takedowns with it are so hilarious and stylish. The game truly aged like a fine wine 🍷
@@ifacecamp717 oh no, from what I see in game the phantom blade is on the same wrist as the hidden blade, its a feature of Arno's hidden blade on his left wrist, on double executions he uses his other arm (right) either to incapacitate the enemy while killing the other with his left hand (hidden blade) and then uses his left to kill the right side enemy, and other variations he snaps the neck of the right enemy and stabs the left enemy with his blade. I love the animation of the hidden blades. It just looks like he’s giving them a pat on the back or simply making it look like he’s trying to excuse himself. Haha
Please note that some animations, especially the hidden blade ones will look very similar, but there will be small differences such as if Anno is holding the enemy’s back or shoulder or mouth or neck, and if he is using the blade on their lower back or side or upper back etc, and subtle changes on his body pose and movement. Similar with the main weapons, if he is using his right or left hand and if he is hitting with the front or back end of the weapon etc. I didn’t want to add slow motion but using UA-cam’s slow motion speed would be useful here.
An interesting note is that the double takedowns seem to feature a right-arm hidden blade, yet Arno very commonly only uses the left-arm one. I wonder why that is? Many of the takedowns, even double takedowns still show Arno favouring only his left-arm blade.
@@takoshihitsamaru4675 yeah it's a detail of the game, initially Arno was going to have two blades as their predecessors but ultimately was decided that he would wear just one, and some animations of double blade takedowns were accidentally left in game, unsurprising since the rush in wich this game was released, oh boy, if they have given one more year to develop this game it would have been huge, nevertheless is still a great game and the last pure Assassins Creed game of the franchise
One thing I liked about AC Unity's combat is the integration of various Kick moves especially in Revolution France where Sailors and Swordsmen begun developing the foundation of Savate.

His style is all about finesse and speed.
I dont get that impression at all. It'd be really cool if it were the case, but especially with the sword, Arno brute force bashes or knees his opponent while they both forget what a sword is for 3 seconds. The side and back kicks are great though.
I love that blunt weapons are considered "non-lethal." Especially war hammers, AKA weapons designed to defeat plate armour, which, to the best of my knowledge, is somewhat tougher than skin and bone.
@@hammy9906 I've said this lots of times already but it's called non lethal becuz for a weapon to be "lethal" it has to be more like a sword or spear, sharp and quick. Maces and other heavy weapons are "blunt and non lethal" because yes they are dangerous but they don't belong in the lethal category since they are more like the "heavy" weapons.
Arno is by far the coldest mf in the whole AC series. Man has flawless low profile assassinations. Like tapping on shoulder then quickly slicing the throat or all the double assassination. AC Unity is on a league no sequels was able to reach.

The only thing that was missing in Unity's combat was the multi-strike animations like in 3, 4 and Rogue, where sometimes the protagonist would perform a combo with several enemies at the same time. Because in Unity you always focus on attacking one, and that sometimes takes away from the excitement of combat. For the rest, I think the animations are wonderful, especially the one of Arno throwing kicks, I think no other protagonist performs them and less in that way of a martial arts fighter. For example, I consider that Origins and Odyssey have lowered the quality of the combat animations, they are always the same all the time.
My main concern with most assassination moves with the hidden blade, it targets the abdomen. This means enemies shouldn't die instantly, but rather have time to writhe and grunt until they die from blood loss. And you wouldn't want this because they would make noise and have to suffer. So why don't the hidden blade assassinations for the most part target areas that either directly kill, or make the target unable to scream for help or make a commotion?
@@Medved- if I remember correctly that was a type of hidden blade in ac 2 (and if I'm not mistaken in the entire Ezio saga), The hidden blades in the other Assassin's Creed are normal and are not indicated to have any type of poison, but since the hidden blades with poison do exist, it could be the case
@@FulaxoPishulaxo IIRC, in the first game all hidden blade animations were Altaïr going for the neck, so I guess in the next games devs wanted to add more diverse animations for the cool factor
@@heavenheathern I'm pretty sure that in all the games previous to Unity, the hidden blade stab was in the abdomen/lower back, and only in Unity they added animations of throat cutting and stabs in the neck and chest.
Love how casual the walking assassinations are. Like there's an attempt to look discreet and nonchalant despite messily murdering someone in view of others.
Everything else except for blood animations, blood animations is definitely better in origins because like unity it spreads at the right place while an animation and also the blood looks much better in ac origins, unity's looks like food colour.
I really liked where they were going with Unity in terms of combat, making it less trivial than the previous entries to have players try a stealth approach first while not being too difficult and keeping stylish animations. I had hoped they would have an improved version of this system in the next entries with more enemy variety, different weapons and one or two additional actions (on top of parry/dodge/regular hit) but it's a shame we lost the quality of animations to either get the cartoonish fighting of syndicate or the weird MMO like feel of the last few games. Unity's system even incorporated light RPG elements so it could have worked with their new "vision" of AC, I'm really sad they didn't keep this system since I usually pay a lot of attention to animations, the feel of impact dealt with each blow and how realistic actions look, something I really do not feel with the last entries in the series.
I actually really dig the hidden blade takedowns from this game. They're super quick and low-profile, usually being a quick slash or a fast stab into the chest or back without drawing too much attention.
Compared to origins, I love how these feel more like 'sorry, just passing through' as opposed to being really bombastic. I wish we'd go back to this style
Unity may have been buggy as all hell, but it understood exactly how the Hidden Blade should work. Ubisoft in general have a fantastic track-record of good takedown animations. SC: Blacklist is another example of this.
TBH I do LIKE the animations but I always consider how much easier to do a double assassination if he just had a second gauntlet lol. I cant really find a reason or justification to only have 1 in my mind
It's non lethal because the weapon goes into the category "blunt" so while it is lethal its not lethal in the sense as cutting or slicing weapons. Hence why its called heavy or blunt weapons.
Ill be honest arno's hidden blade animations are my best They just make him look like a professional, and the way how he does only 1 stab and leaves them to die and walks away Somehow only this game gave me actual ac blade vibes (not saying other are bad i like others too i just feel it better with unity)
Wow I never knew there were Ledge Assassinates using separate left- and right-handed animations. Thank you for compiling all this and noticing the subtle differences.
amazing compilation! really impressive that someone actually get all these animations in one video! but still, there are quiet a few is missing lol except the high profile cover & ledge assassinations that a lot people already metioned, there are actually a lot non lethal sword finishers of arno in the prologue! arno's finishers before he met bellec and become an assassin. a lot people forgot about that! and of course the lift kill lol
For people that still play the game: there's also a ledge assassination you can trigger by going forward while pressing the assassinate bind. You basically jump over the edge and take out the enemy while he's laying on the ground.
Fun fact! If your using a high damage sword like the sword you get at the end of the game and you have that heavy attack with swords you can just heavy attack and the heavy attack wont even play you will just instantly execute them (tho this doesent work against lvl5s as well it can easily be done twice)
I played this game much later then when it came out so it was updated and patched so I had no nasty bugs to deal with and the game is a damn masterpiece.

I dont get that impression at all. It'd be really cool if it were the case, but especially with the sword, Arno brute force bashes or knees his opponent while they both forget what a sword is for 3 seconds. The side and back kicks are great though.
I love how creative these kill animations are
I really like how he shows basically every animation, with titles too. Thanks for your effort
1:54 “well done” even the civilians are acknowledging you
lmao that's the training guy, he comoliments you when u go through his programs
I love that blunt weapons are considered "non-lethal." Especially war hammers, AKA weapons designed to defeat plate armour, which, to the best of my knowledge, is somewhat tougher than skin and bone.
Ah yes the non lethalness of bashing someones head into atoms
@@hammy9906 I've said this lots of times already but it's called non lethal becuz for a weapon to be "lethal" it has to be more like a sword or spear, sharp and quick. Maces and other heavy weapons are "blunt and non lethal" because yes they are dangerous but they don't belong in the lethal category since they are more like the "heavy" weapons.
@@MissLatteCyou are clearly talking out your arse
Arno is by far the coldest mf in the whole AC series. Man has flawless low profile assassinations. Like tapping on shoulder then quickly slicing the throat or all the double assassination. AC Unity is on a league no sequels was able to reach.
Thank you for giving us the entertainment and spending time out of your day to share these videos
3:34 I feel like this is the signature hidden blade kill in AC Unity
Why?
I love how the kick just completely fucks up both the enemy and gravity XD
So ridiculous, yet so good. Like those high-profile ones where he just judo's the dude over his waist as seen in 3:43
@@calebmurphy9406 because it's showed in the trailers and was the one bellec did when escaping the Bastille
those hidden blade animations are peak. exactly what the hidden blade is supposed to be. subtle and precise.
This is why unity has the best gameplay in AC games. No one can beat it
Once again made me depressed that my dream of a game set in 19th- early 20th century saint Petersburg will probably never happen
@@thesnowfox7262 thatd be really cool to see. At least we have vikings yayy
Kids, this is why you don’t do drugs
I dunno man. Black Flag had pretty good combat too
@@insightfulinsight7013 AC black flag, rouge, freedom cry, liberation had the same combat engine they just copy pasted it from AC 3 nothing really special abt it
The only thing that was missing in Unity's combat was the multi-strike animations like in 3, 4 and Rogue, where sometimes the protagonist would perform a combo with several enemies at the same time. Because in Unity you always focus on attacking one, and that sometimes takes away from the excitement of combat.
For the rest, I think the animations are wonderful, especially the one of Arno throwing kicks, I think no other protagonist performs them and less in that way of a martial arts fighter. For example, I consider that Origins and Odyssey have lowered the quality of the combat animations, they are always the same all the time.
someone doesn't pay attention to origins and odysseys finishers
They noticed it and improved the very thing you said in Syndicate. Sadly that game was undersold and you know what happened next.
Because fencing is focused in one on one fights, not for multiple enemies.
III, Unity and Syndicate's combat animations... if it's one thing Ubisoft consistently gets right in their games, it's animations
I could’ve sworn I heard someone say the blades had some type of poison imbued into them that instantly killed people.
@@Medved-
if I remember correctly that was a type of hidden blade in ac 2 (and if I'm not mistaken in the entire Ezio saga), The hidden blades in the other Assassin's Creed are normal and are not indicated to have any type of poison, but since the hidden blades with poison do exist, it could be the case
I wonder the same, like why?
Probably they did it just for the cool moves and all, but they aren't that practical
0:31 love how you've also shown the enemy finishers
1:57 I have over 100 hours in Unity and did not know you could do that
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the beauty of motion capture. Something usbisoft has long forgotten.
6:08, by far my favourite tskedown
8:48 How brutal is this one? Goddamn.
Love how casual the walking assassinations are. Like there's an attempt to look discreet and nonchalant despite messily murdering someone in view of others.
The huge variety in finishers was easily my favorite part about this game.
Finally, I was waiting for this so long, thank you!!!
This AC had the best animations, best weight to the combat and most engaging parkour mechanics.
Also the best blood effects when turned on lol!
Everything else except for blood animations, blood animations is definitely better in origins because like unity it spreads at the right place while an animation and also the blood looks much better in ac origins, unity's looks like food colour.
Sound effect and animation cues dont work half the time even if those animations were great
I really liked where they were going with Unity in terms of combat, making it less trivial than the previous entries to have players try a stealth approach first while not being too difficult and keeping stylish animations.
I love this game! One of the best assassin's Creed games.
Agree
I actually really dig the hidden blade takedowns from this game. They're super quick and low-profile, usually being a quick slash or a fast stab into the chest or back without drawing too much attention.
The animations are pretty neat, when they function properly
Compared to origins, I love how these feel more like 'sorry, just passing through' as opposed to being really bombastic. I wish we'd go back to this style
Guys can we just take a moment to appreciate this man’s work and how beautiful Unity truly is?
This is one of my favorite games! Thanks for doing this!
The animations team behind Unity and syndicate was really something else
Unity may have been buggy as all hell, but it understood exactly how the Hidden Blade should work.
Ubisoft in general have a fantastic track-record of good takedown animations. SC: Blacklist is another example of this.
This game’s always had amazing animations
Finally someone does a compilation I never see unity content
I like the contrast of all these characters
Arno: Fastest kills
Kassandra: More Gorey kills
Connor: Most brutal killers
Non lethal weapons really said: “we don’t kill, but we will crack your skull open”
I believe that arno was the first assassin that didn't need two hidden blades to do a double takedown
TBH I do LIKE the animations but I always consider how much easier to do a double assassination if he just had a second gauntlet lol. I cant really find a reason or justification to only have 1 in my mind
My favourite assassin's creed activity: going around for an hour and killing random guards
This for sure took some days to make, maad respect
*months :)
You've got any idea how much i've been wanting this
'shatters a mans skulls with a morning star' ahhh non lethal
It's non lethal because the weapon goes into the category "blunt" so while it is lethal its not lethal in the sense as cutting or slicing weapons. Hence why its called heavy or blunt weapons.
MY FAVORITES:
HIDDEN BLADE: 2:13, 2:20, 2:32, 2:34, 2:39, 3:12, 3:19, 3:24, 3:41, 3:47, 4:02, 4:31, 4:37

ONE HANDED (Non-Lethal): 7:46, 7:49, 7:55, 7:58
LONG: 8:48, 8:53, 9:13, 9:21, 9:29, 9:38, 9:42, 9:53

HEAVY: 11:31, 11:38, 11:58, 12:01, 12:14
RIFLE: 14:11, 14:19
There are actually a few relatively hidden animations, a couple high profile cover assassinations and a super clean sliding rifle shot animation
9:28 without a doubt the most brutal one
OOOOOH DAMN, For sure
Ill be honest arno's hidden blade animations are my best
They just make him look like a professional, and the way how he does only 1 stab and leaves them to die and walks away
Somehow only this game gave me actual ac blade vibes (not saying other are bad i like others too i just feel it better with unity)
What made Ubisoft go from this to godly weapons unicorns and magic attacks
They hate us

Wow I never knew there were Ledge Assassinates using separate left- and right-handed animations. Thank you for compiling all this and noticing the subtle differences.
11:09 what a nice kick
Arno is the coolest assassin, alao Conor and Arno have the best finishers
amazing compilation! really impressive that someone actually get all these animations in one video! but still, there are quiet a few is missing lol except the high profile cover & ledge assassinations that a lot people already metioned, there are actually a lot non lethal sword finishers of arno in the prologue! arno's finishers before he met bellec and become an assassin. a lot people forgot about that! and of course the lift kill lol
For people that still play the game: there's also a ledge assassination you can trigger by going forward while pressing the assassinate bind. You basically jump over the edge and take out the enemy while he's laying on the ground.
3:47 my favourite hidden blade assassination. 😍
assassin’s creed is the embodiment in video game form of “go for the jugular”
10:04 long non lethal weapon. Proceeds to crush skull.
AC peaked here, animations were on another level
Fun fact!
If your using a high damage sword like the sword you get at the end of the game and you have that heavy attack with swords you can just heavy attack and the heavy attack wont even play you will just instantly execute them (tho this doesent work against lvl5s as well it can easily be done twice)
AC unity was the only game that promoted stealth to its peak
I played this game much later then when it came out so it was updated and patched so I had no nasty bugs to deal with and the game is a damn masterpiece.
Played every AC and I love the movement of AC Unity but AC III finishing moves were peak. Very creative and stylistic.
7:03 There's something about stabbing a face that's just so viscerally upsetting.
I enjoyed the fact that you could keep up doing whatever you were doing after doing an assassination, unlike ac mirage, its a minicutscene.
Unity has the best assassinate animation
3 better
unity by far one of the best games in the series on the diversity in combat alone, such a shame they let it launch the way it did but i will still be playing it for many more years
19:33 God I wish we could use a dagger, would be so stylish
Some of these are literally just "BONK" and I love it
Honestly AC unity is the best game in the series hands down. I love the stealth, story line and location. Plus the animations are well ahead of their time
Unity combat was my favorite
And then they turned it into weightless hack and slash
I truly wish they made a version that had dismemberment, as some of the animations would benefit from the impact they show
Assassins creed unity was such an ambitious game. Shame it didnt turn out as good as the developers intended. But it still ended up being one of the best assassins creed games of all time. Its an even bigger shame ubisoft shyed away from this. Now we have games like assassins creed Odyssey.
0:20 that guy is pretty much dead
It's the best assassins creed, and I see no room for debate. You genuinely feel like an assassin whilst playing the game. And for an assassins creed game, I don't know what more you'd want.
When you did a finisher near a wall and Arno used the wall to kill his opponent you felt unstoppable
The last assassin's Creed game with good combat system.
1:32 the ultimate assassination
It's amazing this game came out only about two years after AC3. The graphics are like night and day.
And now I want to play unity again, how dare you
It still aggravates me to hell and back that the blunt weapons don't knock enemies out cold after hitting them that hard
17:31 Arno didn't act properly, so he's standing again to correct his mistake. 😆
