    To help you get i out of the box next time, that’s what the finger holes in the back are for.

    Hi Mark. I'm sorry you have had trouble with the Deltic. I know it's easy to say after the event, but the noise from the Deltic was definitely mechanical and I wouldn't have continued running it making that noise. If/when you return it, I don't think I would admit to continuing to run it. Let the retailer work out the problem (which obviously is a fault on arrival). Hopefully, they will just replace it.

      Thanks Paul, I am a novice at this so I just thought running it in would improve it. The retailer has agreed to take it back. Thanks for watching

    Very interesting video...just doing my baseboards at the moment, after a 35+ year break. Was put off by the cost of DCC, but it really is the future. I have nothing at all against DC, but I just know that i will hanker to convert to DCC it if I go the route of DC...LOL

      Yes that happened to me. DCC is so much better not just the sound but also the realistic control of the locos. Try to see DCC in action at a show, model railway club or shop. It is so much easier to wire for DCC when you build your layout instead of trying to retrofit a bus wire as I have had to do. Good luck with your layout and thanks for watching

    Your mistake was buying something with "Hornby" printed on the box and expecting it to work.

    Looks like your Deltic was just a dud. Motor sounded terrible and chip blew.. didn't see you try it with blanking plate on dc to confirm it was blown decoder tho. I got 4 locos on hm7000, they sound and run great. Track is powered by a 2nd hand Hornby select and no blown chips for me. This system really is a change changer for home users like myself.. we all like to grumble about Hornby but personally i think this is a great system

    Fascinating stuff. It’s actually really good to see the unpacking ‘as it happened’. Pretty disturbing to see the problems with the Deltic. When spending that amount of money you really should expect the item to work properly out of the box. I hope you get a replacement quickly. (If not, we need to know which retailer to avoid!)

      Thanks, I am not quite up to Sam’s Trains unboxing videos 😂 Yes I am very disappointed that I ran so poorly. Thanks for watching

    The purple wire from the decoder is a function output (F4). I hope you can get a replacement Deltic, I've just got my first txs decoder working in my Deltic and it runs brilliantly even at low speed.

    I think your back scene is looking really good. It blends well with your scenery and I think you a great depth of field. I think you have a made a good call on the deltic. It’s brand new and you have issues so it’s best to send it back. I am exclusively DCC and I think a great test is to see how well a loco runs at slow speed- perhaps the slowest. I noticed that your deltic when moving off 😢showed signs of losing power and it was very noisy mechanically, which made me think you have some issues with the gears, perhaps a physical fault. On the other hand could be back emf setting on the decoder- in any case out of the box these shouldn’t be of your concern! Best of luck!

      Hi, thanks for the kind comments and advice. Yes it was a noisy runner to start with, which was very disappointing. I do like the HM7000 app and blue tooth control, so I think I will try to get a replacement. Thanks for watching

      @@chappelstation the purple wire is Aux 2. White and yellow are front and rear lights. Green and purple are Aux 1&2. Typically I use them for fitting an interior cab light and /or firebox or general interior light - assuming that the decoder manufacturers have followed the standard NMRA colours- which they should!

    The Accurascale Class 55 is way ahead of hornby, you made a mistake.

    A lot of DC controllers are not compatable with this chip, dispite them claiming it would, theres been a lot reporting failures and a list on there own info on dc controllers that don`t work well, general consensus don`t use them on dc, but there seems to be glitches with it meaning purchasing a stay alive and running them on DCC. I was considering getting a couple as a cheap sound option, but as Al at dragon junc just had one blow in his new loco. I`ll leave it, I had hoped they`d ironed out issues in the first batch but clearly not.

      You are way behind the curve with this. Recommendation now is not to currently use these chips with DC.

      @chappelstation  10 місяців тому

      Hi, thanks, I think I mention DC controller on the video by mistake but I meant DCC. I used my Bachmann EZ DCC controller to start the Deltic. This has been fine with TTS loco so I assumed it would be ok with TXS but evidently not. Thanks for watching

      @@Haymarket47 I think the recommendation is to not use the hm7000 with certain 'dc' controllers, that are actually not even 'dc' controllers but 'pwm' controllers
