I’ve taken to updating the DCC address from a DCC controller, then checking DCC address in the Hornby app. This works setting the address using Gaugemaster Prodigy Express, Digikeijs DR 5000/ YaMoRC 7010 or JMRI decoder pro via a SPROG3.
Check the CV settings on the CV tab of the loco entry in the HM7000 app (may require the Bluetooth field to be toggled). If CV 17 shows value 192 and CV 18 shows value of 100, then the DCC long address is the default long address of 100.

Great video. Glad you did your homework on the sound (using the Class 50 sound file). Out of interest, because of the Power Bank, could you programme the decoder, before connection the Power Bank, just to save time?

Wow Susannah that's amazing. I couldn't believe how long the journey was on the Cab Ride. Very impressive track layout . You have a very interesting Model Railway layout. The Birds made a lovely background sound. Thank you for letting us all see your super Layout. Take care Best wishes Richard. Canterbury.

Great video Julian I agree with another comment it appears very complex but that could just be me - but glad to see it looks like you have got it cracked and are relatively happy with the product.
I will watch the next episode cheers.

An enjoyable video. Thanks. When it comes to cycling the loco during the set up, have you tried just rocking the loco onto one set of wheels for 5 seconds and then resting back on the track. Its a lot easier than trying to get 12 wheels back on the track cleanly or turning off the controller. Im using the Hornby Elite for power and I have the same issue regarding running the loco on dcc after having it working on bluetooth. I tried turning the app off but it still wouldn't work on the Elite. I then used the Elite to read whatever the address was on the chip and it came back with a totally different number. Even with this new number it wouldn't work with the Elite until I turned the Bluetooth app on and selected DCC. All that said I think the new HM7000 is a great system.
Footnote: The decoder has now strangely started to work correctly. Not sure what the issue was but now seems ok.

Yes, there's some peculiar things going with the decoder programming, like it has a mind of its own.

Hi Julian, if you push DCC and select inactive I find that works on my DCC system! I recently installed one in my Flying Scotsman when just selecting DCC it only worked on address 3 but when I selected inactive the DCC address I assigned worked and I was away!

Yeah, the DP2 loco is a class 50 prototype.

Although tempted by HM7000, I’ve been watching people’s videos such as yours before committing myself. Thanks, Julian, for this which suggests initial bugs are beginning to be sorted.
Despite what’s written on the box, Hornby had said, I thought, that HM7000 should not be used on analogue DC. Yet that’s what you’ve used for programming, with the loco moving plus sounds, seemingly with no problem. So now I’m confused!
What would be useful to see is one or more of these Bluetooth-enabled locos in action via the app on your layout, possibly with another ‘conventional’ DCC loco operating at the same time on a different circuit. Have you tried this yet please? How often do you use the Bluetooth app in practice?

I found that you can programme the number on my programming track as you will find that the decoder is set to 3 like all new decoders.

Another Great Video but programing these chips seems to be a lot of messing around? Or is it me? Bill From WA

      @StationRoadModelRailway  Рік тому

Thanks Bill. There's definitely some mucking around but I'm going on the assumption more development is in progress as the system is still in its infancy.

I had similar issues getting the address to take I’ve got 9 of these decoders now so on my last installation I entered the address then loco settings refreshed the cvs and it took to the decoder, still some bugs to fix blutooth dropping out so I tend to set mine up alter what I want then switch to Dcc mode and they work fine, wait and see what happens once the dongle gets released.

There's certainly something funny going on with the CVs. I refreshed the CVs too but no change. However, if I closed the app, reopened it and refreshed the CVs the values updated correctly.

@@StationRoadModelRailway certainty seems to be a few bugs in their system I got another decoder and just stuck it on the programming track, good budget sound decoders but for now I just use the app for setup and run alll mine Dcc until they sort things out
