    When I saw this last month, it was the first time I'd seen it for 32 years.
    Great show, with a blistering live performance from T'Pau.
    David Jensen & Pat Sharp are the perfect presenters for the final show. I really think they both should've presented The Roxy from the beginning in June 1987.
    The 1988 set looked really good - rather like a night club. Much better than the cinema / theater set of the previous year. Bits of the old - 1987 - set can be glimpsed around the studio during the program.
    Thanks for uploading!

    I didn't think you'd have any footage of Colin Weston in your collection, Neil, so thanks for leaving that in...
    ...also, the irony of the last ad in the mid-break being for a rival coffee to the then-sponsor of the Network Chart Show.

      CW plugging a repeat showing of _Auf Wiedersehen, Pet_ where Central split each of the 26 episodes into two 25-minute episodes, then cut out all the sex references and swearing (ie. the best bits) in an attempt to compete against EastEnders. It didn't work, and some regions (well, just Thames and TVS) eventually opted out to show the full uncut episodes at a later time on Monday nights.

    Can anybody tell me if the balconies of the 1987 set - that faced the main stage - were still in position when the changed the set in January 1988?
    I can see two sections of the old set, one section on either side of the stage in a few shots. They're painted white, whilst in '87 they were gold coloured.

    The only problem with The Roxy was its time slot - if it had been on Saturday mornings (like CD:UK years later) or even late night (like The Hitman & Her) it would have done just fine. Middle of primetime ITV between regional news and Auf Wiedersehen Pet repeats was just the wrong time.

    • @garethstephenlankshear9379
      @garethstephenlankshear9379 3 роки тому

      @Led Zeppelin Our region HTV did not repeat the final show. I spent years trying to track it down. At the time Tyne Tees said there was nothing they could do

    • @AllenJeremy
      @AllenJeremy 2 роки тому

      What also didn't help was The Roxy was on the same time as Eastenders which was 7:30 on a Tuesday night in some regions.

      If the frontcaps were kept then the final edition of The Roxy would of course have the 1979-1988 Tyne Tees ident before it.

      @@AllenJeremy That never got shown before the Roxy. Early editions had a static symbol flip up and down over the end of the Simon May Roxy theme. Then they introduced the CGI "Tyne Tees Presents" in Univers typeface.

      Neil Barker Thank you for your reply. I'm very interested in The Roxy recently, because I saw Japanese music TV program called MUST BE UKTV. What was the point of Paul Nolan presenting? He adds nothing to the proceedings. You can’t really carve out a successful tv career on the back of doing silly impressions of Brucie on Blind Date. He’d have been better suited to one of the Saturday morning shows, was it Motormouth around this time? Having said that, if Blind Date was on air today, he’d probably get snapped up by This Morning.

    • @AllenJeremy
      @AllenJeremy Рік тому

      Motormouth didn't start until September that year which replaced No 73 which aired it's last ever edition just a few days before the final edition of The Roxy was broadcast.
