This is the fourth and final part of the Belkits MG Metro 6R4 build. This car was built by the Austin Rover group (British Leyland) to meet the Group B specifications in the World Rally championship. The model was made in 1/24 scale by Belkits - this is the Computervision 1986 Monte Carlo Rallye version.
Created for the short lived Group B rally category, the 4WD mid engined MG Metro 6R4 of 1984 (standing for 6-cylinder, Rear engine, 4-wheel-drive) was a world away from the best selling city car to which it bore only a superficial cosmetic resemblance. The competition car effectively only shared the name of the production Metro as it featured a mid-mounted engine with four wheel drive transmission enclosed within a semi-monocoque seam-welded tubular chassis. The development of this vehicle had been entrusted to Williams Grand Prix Engineering.

Great build, doing the same one myself. The thing on the roll cage is a map reading light.

As I've already said, a great looking car. Well built! And superb details in that kit. Almost as a real car! And I can understand how it feels to build a car you've seen in action or in a museum.

@@BOABModels mentioned RS200 should be epic if they make it as detailed as MG.
Definitely - I had a Matchbox one when I was young and I always thought it was such a crazy looking car.

Great conclusion to this build Thomas. Well executed and a cracking kit, lots of good detail. Totally agree lifes too short, makes me realise perhaps i try too hard sometimes to get the "perfect" build, which of course i never will! Glad you are over your cold pal, oh and good job with timing on the info boards you put up! Looking forward to your next project.
Cheers Paul - I'm glad I slowed the captions enough 😅 I tried doing one of the photo etch screws but it was so small! As you say, it has a tonne of detail even without that.

Thank you for this build series. I have been looking at this kit to add to my collection of model rally cars but, was undecided if to get it or not. Your build has made that decision easy to go out and get it.

Congratulations Thomas, Nice kit and great build. Maybe your best yet ? No criticism but the PE-parts you glued to the rear mudflaps : it's sort of a support for the mudflap, the top of it should be attached to the rear bumper. At least that's how it is on my 1:18 Lancia Delta S4 models. Not in the instructions so I won't hold it against you ! Did you see the teaser/trailer for the new Car S.O.S. tv-series with a modelkit of the Metro 6R4 ? Very funny and very well done. And did you know that Didier Auriol did win the French Tarmac Championship with the Metro 6R4 after turning down driving a factory Renault 5 Maxi Turbo in the French Gravel Ch'ship ? He then did a deal with Austin Rover France and ordered a Metro 6R4. Maybe they received a Clubman Rally version ? The first few rally's he was not very happy: this is not a proper rallycar. Then the official works team came to France to test (I think for that years Tour de Corse), and Didier asked them if he could drive their car. That was a proper rallycar ! Thank you very much Ed. Yeah, about the mudflaps I had seen someone else use them like that but the instructions didn't use them at all. To be honest, finding pictures of the back of the car from 1986 aren't easy.
I didn't know about that tv show doing a Metro - I'll definitely look it up.

I could get pedantic and say that the Metro was designed to compete in the small car market not the 'hot' hatch :)

What was the pencil that you used to place the photo etch?
It's a wax pencil - they are used by jewelers to move stones. I got mine on eBay
