Wow, I’m am so impressed with your knowledge, but even more so on your effort to create a weed free lawn for a customer. My yard company seems satisfied if its all green. I have to tell them each weed I see.
No kidding. I'm here in the Dallas area, just moved in, and I don't think this lawn has been cared for in at least 10 years. Tons of weeds, half the front lawn is St Aug, half is Bermuda...right down the middle. First home for me so I'm trying to learn.
it’s crazy how the lawncare rabbit hole is never discussed for new homeowners it gets lost in the shuffle of info but it becomes an obsession which is why Lawnfluencers exist and your stuff is top thanks!
Love to see someone on UA-cam who actually has really good knowledge for lawns and goes into detail like you do! I ALWAYS bag our clippings (inherited a weed garden) and it’s made a WORLD of difference curbing the amount of weeds that spread. I also agree pulling weeds by hand can help the lawn so much faster. I have one patch of something in my lawn that I’ve yet to 100% identify, my suspicion is that they could be clumping fescue.🥴 I might have to shoot you an email with some pics of it and the roots to get your opinion if that’s cool?
Your video dropped in my feed. So glad it did. I live in Jacksonville and my new sod of St Augustine was laid in late March. It is brown in some areas due to the drought. I bought some sand and black cow...hope it comes back green and fill in. Thanks
Very hard and I want to just rip it out right now because of weeds 😂😂😂 J/K because it's soooo beautiful when it's healthy, but it takes time and a lot of patience to get there 😢
Thank you for the video. I am in SE GA. St. Augustine is planted in our front yard. Due to years of neglect and not treating for the weeds, the yard is covered. I would love to see only St Augustine growing there.
You can use some granular pre emergent herbicide that will kill and prevent weeds. Just be sure you look for a product that is for st Augustine. Read the inside of the label amd be sure it says can be used on floratam st Augustine
BEST CAMERA & VIDEO ON WEEDS IV SEEN ater hours o searching!!!! thankyousir!!! except what chemicals & how to treat ST AUGISTINE LAWN,,do you hv a viseo on this
Any product with atrazine in it is safe for st Augustine grass. That will wipe out weeds. And then you’ll need a pre emergent herbicide to keep weeds out.
Great video with tons of great info! About to go out here in Ponte Vedra and pull some of our St Augustine overgrown with yellow woodsorrel. Much respect
Hey Jville! I love our city. Im in the Argyle area. Im learning lawn care as well. Ive been using Sunnyland purple bag weed and feed. Only done one season of the pre. But I believe it has post emergent in it as well. I also throw down milorganite for the nitrogen boost. I still have some weeds but its a lot better. I try to pull as much as possible. But some areas I know ill just be wasting my time. Ive also used Ortho weed be gone for the damn dollar weeds. That stuff worked like a champ. I gotta do one more treatment of that (can only do it twice a yr). Should stop by sometime. I have some lawn leveling to do where I had trees cut down and the roots died and left divots. Keep it up. I just subscribed!
More to lawn than some may think. I decided to work five hours less per week to take care of my lawn. Apparently, my previous systems didn't work for this breed of grasses.
Can you do the video on how to fix the hot spots in the st augustine grass? This video was really helpful! I live in st aug with st augustine grass and have some of those bare spots and not sure how to fix them.
In the gulf coast area, Bermuda grass turns too wirey in the extreme heat and is no longer soft so St Augustine is best. Crabgrass has taken over parts of my lawn and I have to uproot by hand bc the soil temp is never below 50. So it just keeps growing perineally.
@@AdvancedLawn - no actually. I am just getting on the learning curve of this whole lawn care thing out of necessity. My lawn looks like a salad. But now I know that I plan to apply dithiopyr or prodiamine on my south Louisiana lawn in November and then again in late January. I’ve spent hundreds of hours resurrecting my lawn after the freeze. My neighbors must be calling me the crazy lawn lady.
I live in San Antonio, and I have wild Bermuda taking over parts of my St Augustine lawn. Everything I read online says that the best and only way to control it is to have very healthy St Aug, and that there is nothing selective to put on it to control it. Is this all true?
Great video, love the passion for lawncare. My lawn is a 6 out of ten with most of the issues you mention. What is the best way to get rid of Dollar weed growing in St Aug. What product do you recommend for that?
Hey bud. Thanks for watching. Before adding any chemical I recommend becoming positive of your st aug type. If it’s floratam I recommend using image nutsedge killer concentration. At Lowe’s. And then use a granular pre emergent to stop weeds from coming back. Like bayer advanced 3 in one. Blue and silver bag at Lowe’s. It’s great. Make sure you read the whole label and follow closely. If you have many weeds you’ll need a double application of both split up over a month. Control weeds and then use some Sunni land professional granular fertilizer from Lowe’s. Make sure it has a high last number on the bag to make sure you’re getting potassium
@@AdvancedLawn Thanks for that. Yes its Floratam according to the "Home Owners book" (House was built about 6 years ago by the previous owner) I see there is a Sunniland Turf Fert 24-0-11 or a Turf Fert & Insect Control 15-0-15, which would be better?
True. 24d is great for crabgrass but can hurt floratam st Aug. But if you apply it carefully it works. Especially if u tie a rag to a stick and dip it in it then rub in weeds.
Great videos with a lot of knowledge and passion. Just subscribed. I live in southeast Ga and have a weed-infested yard in St Augustine grass. This video felt personal. I’m over my head but would like to learn how to get a handle on my lawn. What are some resources to help me get started?
Can you show us the actual products you use for the nutsedge and how to mix them as well as applying them. This time of the year I have a big nutsedge problem and have tried a product by Bonide called sedgeender which really did not work that well.
Hey Nate! Nice video. In Australia, St Augustine is called Palmetto Buffalo. We just hit spring and I’ve spent plenty of time on my hands and knees pulling out Winter Grass, crab grass and broadleaf weeds. Including some Nutsedge and the odd creeping oxalis. With a windy and wet lead up to spring, I missed my ideal application window of pre-emergent called ‘Embargo’ that has since been discontinued. Which granular pre-emergent do you recommend for St Augustine?
Watched this video twice now. Hands on approach and basics...just what I needed to brush up on. Messed around and got complacent...weeds sneaking me left and right. Backyard is zoysia...not even faded by the neglect. Liked/subscribed from Pcola.
Thank you for this info - I'm afraid I've been pulling out St Aug stolons as 'weeds'! I did not know how to tell the difference between crabgrass and St. Thanks again. Subscribed.
I just purchased my first home in the Jacksonville area in December. Since the first time the lawn was mowed in April my lawn has been infested with at least 5-10 different weeds. I hired someone to take care of it and he did a terrible job. I don’t know what to do. 😤
It’s hard this time of year to eradicate weeds totally but with realistic expectations and the right things applied at the right time, it can me done. Advancedlawnllc@gmail.com shoot us an email. We can schedule a visit. And maybe we can video it for the channel?
There’s some weed that visibly looks dark purple on the toll stem that has become my st Augustine lawn enemy (another Texas). It just popped up out of nowhere; not sure how to rid my lawn of them. Help!

That is poa annua can be prevented with a fall pre emergent , also thick stand of turf is the best weed control on the planet so everytime you apply weed control you should also apply fertilizer to help promote healthy turf , also aeration helps as well and plugging , for pre emergent princep and simazine in fall , in spring we use prodiamine and monument manor

Pre emergent granular herbicide and a good liquid herbicide labeled for at aug grass.
